Liverpool 2014/15 | WARNING: Contains strong amounts of Scouse nonsense

January is still a long way away and if Liverpool continue the same form without Sturridge (which is possible), top 4 could be out of reach.
Don't be ridiculous. Better give some more thought to your comments there. January is not a long way away at all and there are not too many matches left to Xmas.

8 games to go..if Liverpool get 8 points..it's 22 points in 19 games..i don't think thats near top 4..

And if Hemil still thinks we will be out of range of touching distance of Top 4 before January these are our PL fixtures in that period :
Palace (A), Sunderland (H), United (A), Arsenal (H), Burnley (A), Swansea (H), Leicester (H)

Men in white coats are coming for you mate - run !

Liverpool played 8 games without Sturridge..got 8 points..that's reality. They might continue the run and get 8 from another 8 then.

Wouldn't like to be a Liverpool fan and have to pin my hopes on Sturridge. He seems to get better each game he doesn't play.

We made some poor signings, for sure. But firstly, we were in a position where we had nothing to lose and little reason to be shrewd with our signings. Secondly, there were some gems among our earlier signings such as Kompany, Zabaleta and De Jong. Given and Bellamy did well too.
True, I did think that as I posted, Liverpool have certainly been more consistent absolutely no doubt.
As for weird signings your up there though, Owen no knees was extremely odd, I wouldn't bet against Gerrard in City blue either.

January is still a long way away and if Liverpool continue the same form without Sturridge (which is possible), top 4 could be out of reach. In such a situation, I don't think the owners will give Rodgers 30-40mn to spend to find a quality striker needed. Infact, I think what's more needed is a DM worth 10-15mn.

Give Can a run in Gerrard's position and he might just surprise people.

I don't think buying in January is in Liverpool's best interests. Less options, more money needed, with clubs knowing their desperation. The crucial thing for them to do here is to get their manager to actually manage the situation. Get Sturridge fit, get that defence sorted out, changw up a few things tactically and personnel wise etc.

That's true. Which is exactly why I hope they do the opposite, ie spend a lot of money again.

I dunno how good Can is as a pure defensive midfielder what Gerrard is doing right now. Can appears as a good box-to-box midfielder and he played well against Chelsea. He has been compared to German mids like Ballack and Schweinsteiger who are themselves box-to-box. I think Liverpool supporters will be able to elaborate more about him though.

Can is a powerful utility player who, at just 20 yrs old, has hardly been able to identify his strongest position yet (CM, LM, LB, he's even played at CB). he's not overly gifted in the pace dept. but his strong runs, shrugging off players a la Toure, is a feature of his game. His passing is generally good and he has a good eye, though he also gives it away a tad too much at present. His stamina needs improvement too. I'm not sure he's mobile enough to play DM (but would do in a pinch) but a strong CM for sure if paired with a more mobile partner, though that said DiDi wasn't exactly fast either ! If he ended up with his vision I'd be ecstatic. Really looking forward to his progression over the next few seasons.

Seems spot on to me but he hasn't played much for us yet so that's just my opinion from limited viewing. I think his future is to compete for a midfield role ahead of the holding player.

He was already very fecking good before his injury.

He had a good season granted much like Henderson (who has been posted missing this year and Sterling who although a kid seems to be suffering from second season syndrome). Much easier when you have Suarez causing mayhem around you.

I don't think Hargreaves was an odd signing to be honest. We had nothing to lose in taking him on, and potentially a very good central midfielder to gain. It didn't work out for him in the end but there was no risk involved.

You're right about Gerrard as well, I can see him ending up at City if he doesn't sign a new contract.

He will. There is no way he wants to play anywhere else and Rodgers has already said they want to give him a new deal .. so as usual it's all down to the lawyers/agents now.

Provisional team: Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Can, Sterling, Balotelli, Lambert *Echo*

Happy enough with that team, but not sure what Lallana has to do to get a game. At least Sterling is central. I'd probably go Mignolet, Manquillo, Toure, Sakho, Moreno; Can, Henderson; Lallana, Sterling, Coutinho; Balotelli in a 4-2-3-1. I'd like to see Markovic get minutes too.

Did you know that eight different books have been released to commemorate the story of Liverpool’s second-placed finish in the Premier League and how close they came to re-establishing themselves as the champions last season?

Only one was brought out about the champions, Manchester City, and it is certainly a strange set of events that there was a full summer’s worth of reading about the club where Bill Shankly’s old prophecy about first being first, and second being nowhere, is almost as much a part of the history as the Anfield gates.

Hallmarks of a small club mentality..

After comments from BR on Henderson's availability and Lambert going to feature heavily in the upcoming games, I can see something like this as Balo is out :

---------------------------Mignolet

Manquillo ----- Skrtel ------ Lovren ---- Moreno

-----------------------------Gerrard
---------------- Henderson

Sterling -------------Coutinho ----------- Lallana

------------------------ Lambert

Jones, Johnson, Toure, Can, Lucas, Markovic, Borini

Top Chance Makers - this season :

Sterling - 26
Gerrard - 25
Henderson - 19
Moreno - 11
Balotelli - 7
Lallana - 6
Coutinho - 6
Can - 4
Allen - 4
Markovic 3

I can't wait for their game. It would be perfect week if they would lose against Palace and i can see that happening.

Should be neither. We have no good strikers so may as well play none - Sterling, Lallana and Coutinho front three.

They've got some winnable games coming up. Could string some results together before they come to us. But if they don't - would be worrying for them.

tbf, they could say the same about Utd but we are (surprisingly) picking up some decent points here and there. draw v Chelsea, win at Arsenal is 4pts more than I was expecting 3wks ago anyway.

Mario had a hamstring injury that forced his international withdrawal, right?

Reckon Lambert would have played if Balotelli was available?
