I was surprised to be honest, the performance certainly didn't help.
I said Liverpool would struggle in the CL and I stand by that despite their win.

It's a neat headline. It's in the Daily Mirror. Not too serious. Why always Steve G ? Was this a breath taking one man perormance that dragged the lowly liverpool to victory against some mighty european giants? no he scored a penalty (feck sake)
Nonsense, there's more than enough evidence to write off the new signings, Liverpool's season and that charlatan Rodgers.I can't definitively say that you have.
Settling into a back four consisting of three new signings. He's not looked a £20m player so far, but he's played five games.
He didn't have a preseason because he was injured. Going to the world cup and not getting a kick hardly constitutes a preseason.
Moreno has looked superb since his mistake against City. Manquillo has looked very good when he's played. The rest have been okay, but again, haven't played anywhere near enough to make a proper judgement on them. We've played much harder opposition than you thus far and are in an ok position.
Easy there, now your in danger of sounding like a scouser talking about United one game ago.Nonsense, there's more than enough evidence to write off the new signings, Liverpool's season and that charlatan Rodgers.
Is that Rooney behind him on the right ?
Nice throwback pic of Liverpool's new vice-captain.
Saurez galvanized them more than people realize.
This.
Can't believe how poor they look right now. Lallala inparticular looks awful. £25m you say?
In Lallana's defense it's his 2nd game back. I don't rate him that highly (not what they paid for him anyway) but I think he will be decent eventually.
Rooney would be a bit older I think. Is that Rooney behind him on the right ?
True it's early days yet but he didn't just look rusty to me last night, he looked a level below what you expect from a CL side.
What's the difference?
There's been a lot of talk about Liverpool adding "depth" in the summer, I can't see it myself looking at the starting eleven and the bench last night. That was, barring Sturridge their best 11 that Rodgers fielded last night and they looked awful against the team in their group they should've trounced at home, god help them away to Real.

Don't think that means we haven't added depth though. I think we have, though clearly our starting 11 is weaker.
Don't get me wrong I don't think we're extremely strong depth wise but last season with everyone fit our attacking bench options would be Allen/Coutinho, Aspas, Victor Moses or Luis Alberto. This year we've the likes of Lallana and Marković to call upon instead. Not a huge improvement but still better.
Lallana and Markovic are massive improvements on Moses and Aspas. I don't know how you can say they're not. Lallana was one of the better players in the premier league last season whereas Aspas and Moses were jokes.
We were missing Skrtel, Flanagan, Johnson, Allen, Markovic, Can and Sturridge from our squad...

Barney Sturridge yes but the rest the jury is out
5 or 6 of them would have been in our 18 man squad if we had them available. It doesn't matter whether the jury is out on them or not. They'd still get in our squad.
Was there any doubt. Costa injured, it is all falling in to place. Let the conspiracy startUh oh, spaghettio, Chelsea only drew at home. Against a poor Schalke. Seems like they're just a one man team and this guarantees Man Utd to be crowned champions of England in May.*
gasmanc and thegreggs probably warming up their DVD players.
*tongue in cheek

There you go living in the past again, we have hard drives and media players these days. Old skool.Uh oh, spaghettio, Chelsea only drew at home. Against a poor Schalke. Seems like they're just a one man team and this guarantees Man Utd to be crowned champions of England in May.*

What's the best bit here is that your exactly right5 or 6 of them would have been in our 18 man squad if we had them available. It doesn't matter whether the jury is out on them or not. They'd still get in our squad.
Some good news before I go to bed... Maddock is reporting that Sturridge has returned to trainjng and he could feature against West Ham.
With scrawpy penalty returning to action midweek your attack might be at full strength.
Missed a sitter for his hattrick, if I recall. Scored against us already in pre-season too. One to watch definitely. He does pop up whenever they need him, that lad. Still astonished at his brace against us at OT last season.
Good point. He's like the field goal kicker from gridiron special play team.... Does he only come on the pitch now for penalties, not seen him do anything else.Missed a sitter for his hattrick, if I recall. Scored against us already in pre-season too. One to watch definitely.
