Thought he was really good today, although has a habit of getting too aggressive towards the end of games when trying to win the ball back.

Last 3 games he has been excellent, has his sharpness on the ground back and the confidence that comes with it.

If not for Mazraoui who's been superb I would've probably went with him as my MotM. Very good tonight.

Thought he played very well today.

But he’s added these boaderline Rojo-esque challenges to his game now. Needs to cut them out. Leave that to Cuti Romero, Licha!

More of 22/23 Martinez today. Don't like his tackles though and feels like red card is inevitable at some point.

Almost always happens right at the end of games when we're chasing a winner I've noticed. Hopefully if we actually start scoring more goals these incidents won't happen. It still is his fault, i'm not excusing him, but in a more settled team it might not be as frequent an issue.

Played well but that's two red cards he has gotten away with this season.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays in 3-4-3 system. As LCB, he should be able to aid our build up quite well but it will also require him to cover a lot of area with wing backs bombing forward.

Could he work as a ball-winning, sh*thouse central midfielder?

No.

Why does the caf have an obsession with shoehorning players into positions they don’t play.

Because top footballers adapt and always have. What's this obsesion with treating a footballer's current position as immovable and permanent?

Footballers often shift around based on circumstances, need, etc. Endless lists of players have dropped deeper, moved foward, come into the centre or gone out wide as their position shifts as circumstances and abilities and tactical need changes.

Fine if you don't think that suits him, but don't act like a player's current position is like a face tattoo never to be changed. He also HAS played CM before, I'm not sticking him in goal or asking him to start chipping in with the plastering

Its actually the position he did play before Ten Haag moved him to defence at Ajax.
That just isn't true though. ETH was the first and barring one game for Argentina is the only manager to play him in a CDM.

ETH suggests he's only ever done this when player availablity has given him no other choice.

He's clearly a CB and a pretty good one at that. He's finding his form again after a tough return from injury. Let's stick with playing him in the position he's best.

Man Utd 3:0 Leicester New
Very comfortable and played a lot of passes against Leicester. Better

Good. More please. Players need as much time with Amorim as possible.

Yep - not sure who else skipped but I hope De Ligt and Zirkzee at a bare minimum too given they're rotation fodder in the dutch team and deal with plenty of toxicity from the media for their international form.

I was a bit surprised he wasn’t subbed after that back injury. And after the game Amad jumped up on his back and you could see that was painful for him. Hope Amad didn’t make it worse.

Still think he’s class and will do well under Amorim. He’s so good on the ball and I don’t worry about his pace. — he’s quick, even if he’s not Ivan Cordoba (how much would he be worth today?).

I hope it's not an injury, just as his form was starting to pick up.

According to D Sports, Martinez underwent scans on a hip problem once he arrived in Argentina. Team medics opted not to risk the defender for the World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

Though he managed to play all 90 minutes against Leicester, the scans have realed a bigger problem. Martinez complained of 'discomfort' and has been unable to ‘function normally’ since picking up the injury.

Feck.

A hip injury? At least it's not a recurring one, but I really do worry his body isn't keeping up with his physically.

We may need to look for another centre back in the summer if he keeps getting injured. If I remember correctly, he didn't struggle with this at all for Ajax?

Scaloni said his injury is significant. We are fecked. What happens to our back 3 now? I’m not counting on shaw at all.

Will be a big miss for the busy festive period - hopefully it's weeks rather than months.

Especially with Shaw and Yoro still a few weeks away, and Malacia at least 6-8 weeks.

I think it’s more bad luck than him being injury prone- his last couple of injuries have been through contact rather than recurring problems.

He has such an aggressive pitbull style and combine that with his tiny frame and he is just going to get injured constantly isn't he? Not someone we can rely on long term.

Where are you pulling this from? Shaw is back in training, Yoro should be in the squad for the Ipswich game and Malacia played for the U21’s the other night.
