I was for shutting him down for the season after his last injury, feared the worst for him today, but played like a proper leader, not far off legendary stuff.

The club wanted Pau torres instead of him.

But nah Ten Hag's fault.

The only player who was very unlikable was Di Maria.
Romero, Veron, Rojo, even Tevez were and are still likable. I believe Tevez talks highly about us. Not too sure about Heinze. He was a bit thick thinking we would let him leave for Liverpool.

Tévez decided it was time to sulk during the on-pitch interview after we had just secured the league title.

He's a fecking warrior, and up there with the best defenders we've had at the club in the last 30 years.

It's a shame varane is off/always injured. He needs a proper partner. Not Maguire, not lindelof. A proper wanker of a defender next to him. And with dalot there too - it's a proper old school defense, but with proper modern football ability.

Him next to somebody with the pace and power to make up for the physicality that's the only thing he doesn't have would a brilliant partnership. Especially if they can play a little bit themselves as well.

Supposedly Barca are ready to listen to offers for Araujo who I'd absolutely love alongside Martinez... though it's very much a muppet signing and he apparently has injury issues himself. A cheaper, more under the radar option with anything like that kind of profile would be immense.

A genuinely transformative presence

Hope he gets the summer off and we put everything into establishing a solid fitness base for him. Who knows what could be if he's ever present

How can you not love this guy?! Truly amazing and God only knows how we'd have got on if he was fit the majority of the season. What a guy!

What a player and character. We’ve missed him so much. Love how he grabbed hold of Garnacho after the opener and told him to get back as the job wasn’t done.

Find a way to keep him fit for the entirety of next season at all costs. Give him an aerially dominant partner to replace Varane.

How can you not love this man? Not only is he a fecking great player but also a great character. Absolute warrior.

We have missed this guy so much. Exudes confidence. Fast and hard great on the ball, great passer.
ETH best signing.

Licha the red warrior

We need him fit. He is our fire

I absolutely love him, how we've missed him

My only worry is he now falls into the "injury prone" category, I'd really rather he didn't go to the Copa America and had a proper summer to fully get over any niggles

His attitude and passion are

If they did we’d have signed Pau Torres. After all, ‘the club’ signed Martinez. Been a unanimously great signing, which is rare.

Just having him fit all season would have made such a difference. We don't have another CB that can break the lines with his passing and is aggressive to boot. Absolute warrior.

Phenomenal performance considering where his sharpness and fitness must be. Thankfully the season is over because I think he got through on adrenaline there. Get a good preseason under him.

Imagine him being a CM? I think he would do a lot of good in there and maybe get two CBs behind him. I know he is great at CB, but he could be better at CDM imo

Didn't they try this at Ajax and it wasn't overly impressive? I have recollection of it being mooted when we were linked to him.

I'm not convinced, not sure mobility is his strong point to be in a PL midfield. It's his reading of the game, competitive ability and passing that are exceptional for a CB but for a midfielder less so, it's always about relative to the position. You play the game ahead of you as a CB and he's very good at that with passing but midfield you suddenly take the ball on much more competitive situations.

He wouldn’t be. He’s better at CB because he has the whole pitch in front of him.

It is weird how he's a centre half, considering he his range of passing and his awareness around him and ball retention is better than most midfielders you'll see. He's one of those players you could stick in goal and he'd be tremendous.

Brilliant player but surely he can't be injured again. If he can't stay fit for more than a month at a time then we need to look elsewhere.

Give him some rope. He has just come back from injury and did a job for a good chunk of the match. He's exactly what we need, what we should be building around.
