All the Barca tier 1's are running with City as his likeliest destination...
Well Messi’s people could be feeding them to get what they want: board out, new manager in, Suarez stays, etc. You insist that you are serious about leaving to put pressure on everyone. Not saying that’s the only story but it wouldn’t be unrealistic either. If they were BS journalists it wouldn't be so bad but they aren't
"Messi at Juve? Adidas leaders like the idea"
Are the cnuts at Adidas aware that we are a far bigger brand than Juve?!

Wait, some fans here actually want him to sign for City?
Wow. Just wow. I’ve seen it mentioned a lot how far we’ve fallen as a fan base, and have fundamentally disagreed every time. But reading that some of you would actually prefer it if he went to City rather than PSG or the other petroclubs “just to see him in the PL” is outrageous. I can’t even believe it, and hope it’s either a WUM or a diagnose involved.
If he goes to City, it’s the biggest, most spectacular transfer the world has ever seen. And it changes the entire league in regards to politics, power, fans, money. Everything, really. City would suddenly have a legitimate claim to being one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it would send their revenue through the roof.
It can’t be understated how good it will be for them, and how bad it will be for us, if he goes to City.
I will be absolutely devastated if it happens. I realize it’s probably the only realistic scenario right now, but that doesn’t change anything. It’ll be a fecking tragedy.
And to you lot who say you would actually prefer it if he signed for City if we can’t get him, feck off. Feck right off.
Quite literally the worst possible timeline for UnitedWait, some fans here actually want him to sign for City?

You aren't nearly as bad yet as we were at our lowest point, you've still won cups recently and can still attract top players because of your wealth, therefore you'll eventually be title contenders again but it's not gonna be right away imo, no.We are right now what Liverpool were, dreaming of the old days and how great we were and how big of a club we were. We are getting better but it might be another 2-3 years without losing focus to challenge City and Liverpool which is tough.
Yeah it's our worst nightmare but unfortunately there is not a damn thing we can do about it
Ye it's nuts to think of any positive for us as fans. If he ifnally comes to England to our direct city rivals, it can't be overstated how monumental of a blow that would be on just about all fronts.Glad someone can see this as well
It's not just the case of the name; it's the fact Messi was never supposed to leave Barcelona, so much so, enquiring about him was seen as risible. For him to then go anywhere else in Europe, it's something that would have had your thread closed by the mods if even placed as a simple talking point.Yeah actually your right it could be the biggest transfer ever even surpassing the likes of Zidane & Ronaldo moving to Real & Inter Milan respectively in their prime

That's the last possible destination I'd want to see him at honestly
I'm more than happy to swerve the type of fan who would ditch the club over a rival signing, as they were clearly never an a genuine supporter to begin with. And therein lies an existential threat to United. We'd immediately stop acquiring new fans, and would lose many existing ones too. Messi succeeding at City would establish them at the premier club in the region for an entire generation. They would sell out their stadium and become the most watched team on TV in UK/world.
Thats not my point. At all. I even mentioned that I realize it’s probably what will happen. But the fact that some “fans” actually prefer him going there, rather than feck off to MLS is doing my head in. I get proper angry reading that. Just feck right off!!

No they wouldn't, they have 13 fans which is 3 more than last year.Wait, some fans here actually want him to sign for City?

Ed's asking him if he has Zorc's mobile number.
Are you living in 2007?No they wouldn't, they have 13 fans which is 3 more than last year.
Messi still probably doesn't know who they are and thinks he's coming to the Red Devils.
I don't think some process the reverberations Messi going to City will cause - buying football's jewel in the crown is the greatest statement there is and would change the landscape emphatically. It's absolutely not something anyone who supports United should want to see happen in any capacity.Wait, some fans here actually want him to sign for City?

The fallout from this is also how many players who didn't consider City the premier destination in football will now think differently, simply for the chance to play with Messi. The shifts in power would be seismic and felt long after he left the club.
Problem is, the stories from major sources are picking up steam and it doesn't sound like hot air anymore, worse still, him going there makes sense on every level except relocating his family to Manchester after living in Barcelona his entire adult life. That's a brutal adjustment period not only for him but his family one would think - a decision you'd like to think will keep him where he is when all is said and done.

Top 10 reasons why I hope City can get him.
10) Would get to see one of the greatest players of my generation play every week in the PL, albeit his feigning years. I don't watch Spanish football except for the occasional el Classico.
9) Could put pressure on the board to obtain Ole's targets as it would mean increasing the gap further between City and United if they don't.
8) Would narrow the gap between City and Liverpool. More wishful thinking but there is a chance.
7) Would possibly destabilize the City squad due to his wages. Then again, City got around that by secretly paying their players from outside sources so this probably won't happen.
6) FFP - see #7.
5) Messi vs the best RB in the league. Am I right?
4) Ed Woodward will stop chasing him and move on to more obtainable targets.
3) Messi would tear Spurs apart resulting in Jose sticking his finger in Juan Manuel Lillo's eye.
2) We may finally get an answer to the age old question of whether Messi can do it on a cold wet night at Stoke. Okay, maybe not unless Stoke are promoted next season or City get them in one of the cups.
1) Would be Ole's first real test vs City.
Steady - if it was done when he was 25 maybe. Not at the end part of his career it won't be.
Obviously it'd be dangerous for everyone if he went to City, and we could kiss any chance of catching them up for 2 years though. But we needed a big window to do that anyway.
No they wouldn't, they have 13 fans which is 3 more than last year.
Messi still probably doesn't know who they are and thinks he's coming to the Red Devils.
Pretty sure he'd play for any club looking in shape to give him his first CL since 2015, AND able to pay something close to his gigantic Barca wages. That makes it a very short list of candidates.I like the romantic fans that think Messi only wants to play for a "Proper" old traditional noble club.
It'll be another rod to beat them with if they don't win the PL or CL.Signing Pep was already absolutely massive for them, signing Lionel fecking Messi would be on a whole other stratosphere unfortunately
With Messi at City and Neymar and Mbappe in Paris, the decade long consolidation of power and influence at the top of world football by the Gulf oil clubs would be complete.
We already got a taste of that power when they challenged and defeated UEFA in court decisively
