Lionel Messi

Alright, let me put this another way, who would we leave out to accommodate Messi? Who would need to play in order to feed him opportunities?
I don’t think he’s worth the risk. He will have huge adjustment issues which may never be resolved. And it will require OGS to totally change all our plans too. He’ll demand that our entire team strategy, formations and playing style is calibrated to make him thrive. And again, after all that, it might never happen.

and we’d have to give up on Sancho this summer or next as no way we can bank roll both of them.

let him go to PSG: that’s is only likely destination.

Having said that, Woodward has dreamed of such a signing ever since he became the boss. Am sure he’ll waste many hours dreaming of making it happen.

Alright, where does that leave Bruno and Pogba ? The 2 players who will be feeding Messi the most.

Henderson

AWB - Maguire - Shaw
Matic
Messi - Bruno - Pogba
Greenwood - Martial - Rashford

Win most games 11-5.

I wouldn’t bother speculating over the formation, Messi will be the one picking the team when he signs

Can he play the deep lying playmaker role?

Messi
Pogba - Bruno
Sancho - Martial - Rashy/Mason

Only issue I have with this setup is that it will stagnate TFM's development at DM.

Are you joking with that line-up?

Seriously people asking where Messi will play ?
The guy is just the best player ever. I will take him ahead of Sancho in a heartbeat.

He is old but doesn't need speed. He can pass and dribble like no one and you just can't take the ball from him. In my eyes he is still the best player in the world by far. His problem at Barcelona is that he doesn't have someone to run ahead of him . He will have plenty of speed here.

I think he still has at least 3 years ahead of him as the best in the world. And lets be honest, he doesn't need to adapt the Prem, the Prem will have to adapt to him.

He is a wet dream but I don't think it will happen anyway.

If it happens and he leaves Barcelona, I can see him choosing us instead of PSG or city based on the fact we are a big club and some players still care about that.

You literally said this a week ago in the Sancho and Messi thread

Messi.
Then buy Sancho next summer.

Make your mind up.

Its so obvious he's coming. We've been purposely stalling the Sancho deal. Ed has quite clearly tapped Messi up.

We'll be hearing rumours soon that Ed Woodward is on a flight mid air to Spain, on urgent transfer business.

"We can do things other clubs can only dream about" Ed Woodward 2014.

If he’s leaving Barca cause they’re not winning trophies, why would he come to United? So obvious why our name is involved, wise up. And yeah he’ll probably end up at City.

How badly does this hurt Barcelona? Seems like they'll be losing Suarez and Messi in the same window, and without the latter especially they suddenly look quite ordinary.

They will be right royally fecked.....they’re already in an awful state right now and he hasn’t even gone yet!

If he does move then PSG as a false 9 with Neymar and Mbappe around him, naughty.

Messi to come in and play just behind Martial and Rashord/Greenwood. In a 4-3-1-2 System. Free role. Need AWB and Shaw to improve getting forward. Matic, Pogba, Fernandes in midfield.

2nd place suddenly turns into 4th without Messi and Suarez even in La Liga. I doubt they got the money to replace their goals. One injury to Dembele and all they got is Griezmann.

I wouldn't say that Brady is the biggest star in American Football today. That would be Mahomes.
Mahomes is one of the the future stars of the NFL but their biggest star by far up is Tom Brady. Not even a debate. When Brady will announce his retirement it will be on prime time in every news station in the whole North America.

Kansas has won one SB in with one of the best offensive lines in memory. Their QB is great but let’s not forget they probably had one of the leagues best TE and WR, not to forget that their whole rooster was stacked with talents.

Messi will end up in PSG or maybe Italy. Imagine Messi in Napoli...

Even if they keep Suarez, if/when Messi alone leaves it'll hurt them more than Sir Alex leaving United. Yeah they have some excellent players, but don't underestimate his impact. They'll drop out of the top 4 without him, if only for a year until they figure out life without him. With him they compete for every title and make it pretty far in the CL regularly. And that'll be the case for whatever team has Messi basically.

Anyone saying no to a potential deal with Messi is surely on a wind up.
Yeah we have pressing issues elsewhere, but to turn down the chance of getting the greatest player alive right now is insane.
On a free potentially too.
