Lionel Messi

 Indeed

He's Ronaldo's mum though.

Juventus won it before him and will win it after him. They look as unimpressive as ever with him. People look for reasons to big up players they have a hard on for. Hence this "multiple leagues" and "systems" rubbish to make excuses for that player being inferior. As if Messi wouldn't have won the PL had he moved there.

Preach. And credit to Ronaldo, he’s done well considering (like Barca) the poor team structure and coaching. But even emre can
Goes to Italy and wins serie a. It’s nothing to write home when you’ve won 8 straight.

I mean I'd like give Ronaldo credit. It's a weaker league but still among the better ones, and he's doing really well for a player of his age. But his fans are especially laughable with their absurd claims and constant agendas.

Enters the final year of his contract. Interesting times ahead

He must be considering getting out. How many years can he waste surrounded by such incompetence?

If he ends up at City you can basically just hand them the league right now. Imagine him and De Bruyne pulling the strings.

Doesn't bear thinking about.

Oh come on, just stop the winding up games, Ronaldo did win 2 league titles in past 2 years, Madrid only won one, and Messi didn't win anything even from his comfort zone this year, even losing to Madrid, so is he even worst then? In terms of trophies count in past 2 years, Ronaldo>Madrid/Messi/Barca, is that how you want to put it?

To be fair Juve had won the league title 7 years in a row before Ronaldo arrived, so Ronaldo winning it twice is decent but not some amazing achievement and definitely not the reason Juve bought him. They bought him to win the CL.

He did his job in the knock-outs during his time there so far, so whats even your point?

De Bruyne couldn't play the way he currently does with Messi in the team. In the offense, their roles are pretty similar. I also don't think he could play as risky as he likes to since a possession system can't really have two players who lose the ball as often as both KdB and Messi do.

Imagine finding a way to think De Bruyne and Messi couldn't succeed in the same team. Only on the cafe

That's not what I said. But de Bruyne currently operates in Messi's areas and he's too wasteful in possession cureently. He'd have to play a more conservative interpretation of the CM role and attempt less shots/through balls/crosses etc.

I love the idea of Messi going to City by the way. Would definitely freshen things up.

Think of the havoc they would cause though. Imagine them linking up. Fcking hell.

He did his job by getting to 1 quarter final and 1 last 16 finish?

Ronaldo fan boys are sinking to all kinds of new lows. The CL is meant to be his bread and butter. Juve are far too concentrated on getting goals through Ronaldo that they are sacrificing balance and better team unison.

Yes, would be one hell of a combination. Playing in a team that's so good in the build up would also allow Messi to play further upfront and not drop back as often as he does.

Barca needs a rebuild and he's 34 years of age. Fair enough he's one of the greatest of all time but can you realistically factor a 34 year old into a rebuild?

I don't think it's Messi who needs to ask himself questions, it's Barcelona.

They need to move on so many over the hill players.

He turned 33 in June. He's not 34 years old.

If Messi leaves I can only see him going to PSG maybe for a year or two, then back to Argentina for a final hurrah. His wages are astronomical for a start. Hes on £500k a week, surely he would demand more to come to the Premier. This would have a knock on effect for every other player at the club he joins. Saying that, City maybe Chelsea would be the only 2 clubs maybe able to pay his transfer and wages.

Imagine him and Griezmann/Coutinho in the same side, oh wait. :smirk:

Most people would have said something similar regarding Messi and Coutinho/Griezmann...

Clubs would pay it for Messi, imagine the commercial revenue you could command from his signing alone. Shirt sales would rocket through the roof.

You guys really have unrealistic views regarding what PSG can afford. It was the same for Ronaldo. PSG can't affort CR7's salary and even less Messi's ridiculous 100M/year, or even 50M.

Since we recruited Neymar and Mbappé, our transfer balance pretty much has to be at 0. We just can't pay that kind of money (unless we sell Neymar/Mbappé) and even if we could, we don't need Messi, we need 1 or 2 top level full backs, 1 or 2 top level midfielder and a center back.

Messi, Cristiano, Mbappe and Neymar in the same team. Make it happen, sheikh :D

Messi is the best player in their league by miles. Maybe get rid a few of the other first?

Stop it would ya. Different types of players.

I hope you're opinions have evolved a bit over the years regarding Messi. It was ridiculous for a long time.

He'd score 40+ with the types of chances they create.

He could, but FFP won't let us ^^ (and it's a good thing, i'm actually pretty happy that PSG had to actually build a sustainable business plan instead of taking money from the owners because had they left, we'd have been fecked, thank you UEFA).

How is it ridiculous to think he's the 2nd best player ever?

I'm not even sure why they weren't remotely receptive to this.... and look at shipping Suarez. Those two are more fluid than Suarez is nowadays, he's still a great goalscorer and has smart movement, but I doubt you'll see many teams winning a CL with that anymore.

I think it's more likely Suarez, Pique and possibly Busquets go in the summer than still Messi ever leaving. Decide a system that isn't a forced 442, allow some youth a bit of breathing space and time and run with it - the bar has been set so high that time is barely even allowed, thus the reliance of drifting back to the same core of players - but if they're gone, how can you rely on them.... same as Pep ditching Ronaldinho, Deco and attempting to lose Eto'o.

Dembele's clearly an issue, the board is an issue.... Braithwaite 18m for basically a few months is absolutely bonkers on top of the 3 wild £100m+ transfers.

Cristiano has dominated him in the CL year after year, it's not even debatable. I think these messi fanboys here are full of delusion if you think he's the best ever. Not even the best player in World Cup History,(Pele), not the best in Champions League history(Cristiano). The two biggest competitions in Football. He'd be on 3 CL if it weren't for Ronaldinho and Eto'o in 06. He's certainly the Pep Guardiola of players.

Klose is the top wc scorer so he's pretty much the goat.

Really? You love the idea of Man City winning the next two PL titles.

I'm a neutral and seeing Pep and Messi reunited is exciting. You probably would've liked the thought of Messi joining Bayern 5 years ago when Pep was their coach, too, and it would've been an absolute nightmare for me ;)

Im not a Ronaldo fanboy, i have no problem saying he has his flaws, but scoring in just about every knockout game is not one of them.
Sure, you can make the argument that they could have invested the money on other players to create a more balanced team, but thats not the fault of Ronaldo the player.

So, can you give me the specifics, what exactly do you want Ronaldo to do?
