Yes, so far he has been. He is more talented and is supported in attack by far superior players. It would have been surprising only if he didn't have a phenomenal season if he remained injury free.

Nah, it's probably because he's a better player playing to his potential.

That said, they'll get beaten by Chelsea.

Karma, you do realise on the two occasions we've actually met recently, your so called 'superior side' didn't win either, losing one game and the contest over two legs, yes?

Your a muppet of the worst proportions. For one you claim to support a side which you clearly do not, which is WUMmery. But you also criminally underrate the ability and quality of many United players. We're not champions of, well, everything for nothing you know. And we haven't done it by having 10 players sit on deck chairs while Ronaldo carried us there either

Barca this, Barca that. feck them.

Having a laugh in a fecking shit league where the closest one is the shit Real Madrid.

Lets see how they do on the semis where they will finaly will see a good team, nobody seems to mention Bayern had a makeshift defence and didnt even had a shot on target. They were beaten even before getting into that field.

Messi has been far more dominant this season certainly compared to Ronaldo last season but -

1) He has 4 of the world's best attacking players in great form alongside him. The attacking play of Xavi, Iniesta, Henry, Eto'o and Alves gets Messi clean through on goal or in so many one on one situations inside the box. How often did Ronaldo have that luxury last season ? At his best, even Alves is probably a better dribbler and can go past more players than anyone else at our club last season bar Ronaldo.

Can Messi carry a weaker attack with some aging class players who play at half the pace they used to at their best, some average players with really just one other top class attacking talent alongside him who wasn't in great form either ?

2) Have Barca won anything yet ?

Player to Player United's attack is very much comparable to Barca and a superior backline and the GK - United in full flow are a more balanced team than Barcelona. Also Ronaldo didn't carry the team last season, Fergie played the attack around him and he scored goals, but was never dominating an opposition as much as a Messi did ever since he broke through. Whatsover you might brag about his allround skills, Ronaldo was never a superior footballer than Messi. if there is a one attacker in the United side this season comparable with the best in business its Rooney not Ronaldo.

Roma clearly are better than Bayern. Bayern have more of a European pedigree but Roma are the better team.

They're not even top of the Bundesliga. Imagine the Premiership without Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and United coming fifth. The gulf between United and the rest of the teams in terms of resources is about the same as the gulf between Bayern and other German teams.

Its no more.. Few years back after they bought Ballack and Ze Roberto followed it up with more humiliations in Europe every season, Beckenbauer and his cronies realized, landing the best players in Bundesliga, counts feck all out side their league and these days it counts for less even in their own league. Ironically a decade has passed and there were only one or two world class footballers who are Germans. Current Bayern are on par with Roma if not worse, and United 7-1 thrashing was a much clinical performance than Barca thumping the Germans, although the scoreline could have easily been 7-0.

Messi's performance in 2006 against a relatively strong Bayern under Hitzfeld was far more impressive than he did this week.

Must be why SAF will even drop Rooney to the bench starting Berba/Ronaldo or play him in the Dirk Kuyt role rather than allow him to dominate. Must also be why 'best in business' Rooney struggles to even be voted in among the top 10 in business by fellow players and managers.

Cannot see that happening!

Their interpassing and movement are at a different level, and even if they hit their top gear for 50 or 60 minutes, Chelsea are finished. Rent boys dont have a defence like us to hold them out for 180 minutes nor their front line superior enough to trouble their defence. Chelsea's only hope is to put men behind the ball and try nicking goals on breaks, but they lack United's confidence or class to sit back and soak up the pressure over two legs.

Only Essien and Drogba can trouble them to some extent or Cech stepping in twatting them off. Barca shouldn't have problems in dealing with Fat Frank, Ballack, and their inflated defence.

:wenger:

Any one who had watched 50 % United this season can tell you he has been our best attacking player. The only baggage for Rooney is the international football, often landing him in the receiving end as the team was managed by clowns and also his temperament and injury problems didnt help him either. One more injury free season and a good world cup he would probably be rated as high as Gazza.

IK hates United, he despises Rooney, there's no point arguing it with him.

Not overrating our players and pointing out facts that show that they are being overrated is hatred ? :wenger:

Rooney isnt overrated as much as Scousers and the Spanish media overrate Torres and your fanboy brigade overrate Ronaldo. Nonetheless, he is a fantastic footballer, some of you lot are unable to accept.

He wanks all over Stevie Me wishing he was in Alonso's position and calls Rooney overrated:lol:

Real Madrid are rubbish shouldn't have been in the second place if not for refs, almost every other team they have played after Ramos took charge moaned about them to the media but it doesnt work that way in Europe.

Villareal, Atletcio, Seville can put up with a better fight with the English teams than Real Madrid.

Unbelievable.

Is the Premiership the only league on this planet that isn't shit?

Indeed. It's a bit tiresome people constantly devaluing any achievement which doesn't take place in the Premiership as it happens to currently be the strongest league in the world. What about the period from 1990-2004 when the English league was nowhere near the best in Europe? Does that mean much of what was achieved in that time doesn't count for shit?

If liverpool go out in the CL, Messi will win the awards without any competition. I thought the hype Gerrard is getting in the press might influence the general opinion, but Messi will walk all the awards whether cal? likes it or not

I think Rooney should win it though...at his best he is as talented as Messi. He has been single handedly carrying us this season in our quintuple hunt. He will score a hat trick at Porto and will destroy Barca/Chelsea in the final.....

you heard it here first.

Heheh not many posts since Messi missed his penalty. He was very average tonight.

Your point being . Dont think any footballer in the history of the world has turned up every other week. Great footballers only play 60% or 70% of their potential and can still win games whilst in big matches they are always in their own league. Its their lower cut off levels and ability to dominate big matches when the stakes are high cuts them apart from the rest.

Messi at least in terms of reputation has already overtaken all footballers of the post Maradona era barring Romario, Ronaldo, Laudrup and Zidane. One more injury free season and a great world cup, it shouldn't take much for him to surpass these four.

Based on what do you measure this reputation ?

He hasnt even overtaken the achievement of Ronaldinho yet. There is quite a way to go even for that before you can start talking about fat Ronaldo or Zidane.

Great peno by Messi today too, something very Mardonna esque

Fair enough poor effort though, Ronaldo wouldnt have heard the end of it on here if he did that. Yeah I know he has missed a few but he at least puts power on them.
