so in order to be better than Ronaldo he has to stop playing well, but continue scoring goals? or be kind of injured and continue to score goals? Welcome back Chief.

Yes i quite clearly do.

"To put it plainly Frankly Vulgar, until Messi passes through a season with a truly bad patch of form and reproduces the stats Ronaldo has this season, or better yet, plays half a season through the pain barrier and wins world, European and domestic player of the year on top of the European golden boot ( or in a Messi's case make a record number of assists as awesome as a 42 goal season), then and only then would he have earned the right to be considered better than Ronaldo."

The first bit in bold is the first part of my statement.

The second bit in bold is the second part of my statement.

The last bit in bold is where i lol'd.

Are you going to say i've misquoted you now? or am i a "damned liar" as you so often love to say.

I don't think anyone can judge on raw talent because neither player is fully developed and neither player has actually peaked when the other one has.

But what we can happily say is that Messi is best player in the world right now, hands down.

The Chief at his supreme best.

What an immature, idiotic, childish, deluded dullard.

Thus says the caf.

Oh you're a wicked insolent fool!

Counting my winning for predicting Barca to trash Bayern.

Wolfsburg put 5 past them just a few days ago...

Awesome.

And yet they're still far better than Porto. So by your logic.........

What makes you think they're far better than Porto?

I've already pointed out in the "Who do you want in the QF" thread that I think they're no stronger than Porto.

Well if you've already pointed it out...

BTW, Messi's already knocked off one of Red Indian's checklist achievement points.

Messi in the CL, this season: 8 games, 8 goals, 4 assists.
Ronaldo in the CL, last season: 11 games, 8 goals, ? on assists.

Will you recognise him now as the best player in the World? He's sure to take out the award, no matter how much posturing you lot try to do.

Diving twat

I hope you weren't referring to the card he wrongly recieved, the number 30 Bayern player clearly caught Messi's leg.

Or the incident where he got elbowed in the face. The kicking on the ground/psuedo-worm dance move was fecking soft, but it would've hurt regardless.

He is the best player in the world right now, obviously, and he has also the right team behind him (like Ronaldo last season). But that Messi creaming is pissing me off as well, whatever he does, people have jizz in their pants even if his move or dribbling led to feck all. IMHO, Ronaldo on top form is still the better player, and why? Because he's more complete, he has got everything while Messi plays more one-dimensional, Ronaldo has more variaty.

But then again, Messi is much more humble and in the interviews he doesnt come across as narcisstic as Ronaldo, and thats why people probably like him more from the start.

The fame and honors got to ronaldo's head imo, and thats why he isnt performing as well as he should. Once that is sorted, he'll be back at his best

I think Ronaldo's the most effective player.

Even when he's having horrible games he'll still get his name up on the scoreboard, sometimes even twice.

I think what Messi does is better than Ronaldo, their comparable skills I mean - dribbling, shooting and intelligence in their play. Ronaldo does have more avenues to goal though, like you said.

Messi's not one dimensional.

Your statement was "he needs to stop playing well and continue scoring goals'.

Which is not remotely the same thing as saying a player must show he can be effective when he has a bad patch of form. Like Ronaldo has done thus far this season. Which is what I was clearly talking about. No where in that sentence do I mention the scoring of goals only. Or Messi "stopping to play well"

The second bit in bold is the second part of my statement.
Lord have Mercy:lol:

Your statement was continued thus:

"..or be kind of injured and continue to score goals"

Which is not the same as a player playing through the pain barrier and still finishing that season with all the individual awards and records for that year. Like Ronaldo did last season. Which I'm suggesting Messi should also do for there to be no doubt he is the better player. In that sentence it is clear there is no mention of goal scoring while being kind of injured.

The last bit in bold is where i lol'd.
 You need more English lessons pal:lol:

Are you going to say i've misquoted you now? or am i a "damned liar" as you so often love to say.
No. I'm simply going to say go and learn English again. Because you clearly don't understand it very well.

I love how the Chief claims others need English lessons.

Amusing, every single time.

Spot on.

He is a clown for all to see, all but Cal? but he's a clown for all to see as well.

Other people are even picking apart posts he wrote in reply to me yet he still has no idea of the error of his ways.

Messi is just a better player than anyone else right now, typically it's bayern that are shite, it's lyon that are shite. Both lyon and Bayern are better than Porto. Messi was the main man again with 2 goals and an assists, although the 4th was all his good work as well. Only denied a hat-trick by his own player at the end.

He also got booked for diving which i'm sure cal chief and co will think was the correct decision

Messi came off the bench twice there too. SO it's really 6 games (2 off bench), 8 goals and 4 assists? (which doesnt tell you all because the 4th was all Messi as well).

The boy is good.

To be fair to the Chief he's usually got some good insight into things, and I've defended him on more than one occasion when others were ripping into him.

But when he comes out and says things like - and bear in mind this is in a thread that's now been turned into a "Messi v Ronaldo, who's the best player in the World?" thread:

until Messi passes through a season with a truly bad patch of form and reproduces the stats Ronaldo has this season

It kind of makes it hard to take him seriously.

I mean, where's the 'how about he just have an awesome season/year/extended period of time with no massive drop in form? Then there's the idea that he's not the type of player that will have a massive drop in form, he'll always have an impact regularly, it's just the way he plays.

I will respect Messi as the best in the world hands down if he wins the CL and scores a goal in it or leads Argentina to the WC. Is he the most talented in the world, feck yeah, but he hasnt produced when it mattered(yeah I am being an asshole, but this is mainly in response to Ronnie getting shit last year)

IMO you dont need to win trophies to be the best player as on the contrary, players get voted the best just because they won a trophy, a la Cannavaro, but were obviously not the best player.

I'm sure he wont care a jot but i actually think the same way, he's wrong this time though and has done himself no favours, although i'm sure he'll call me retarded or something and claim i'm the one who is in the wrong and need my head checked but really anyone can make there mind up.

He actually claimed that i was the one who claimed Messi had to have better stats when he was the one who said

"until Messi passes through a season with a truly bad patch of form and reproduces the stats Ronaldo has this season, or better yet, plays half a season through the pain barrier and wins world, European and domestic player of the year on top of the European golden boot ( or in a Messi's case make a record number of assists as awesome as a 42 goal season), then and only then would he have earned the right to be considered better than Ronaldo."

I mean really....

uae summed it up brilliantly before. But then again apparently he needs to learn english.

You're just so childish Chief.

And sometimes they can be the best player without winning any major trophies.

And sometimes they can be the best player without winning any major trophies.

It's an individual award, you get trophies and medals for winning titles. But sometimes you will fail but you cannot blame the individual who gave his all.

Individual awards shouldn't be based on team, although of course it plays a factor as the more successful the team is the more exposure the players get.

Point is it's an individual award which means it should go to the best player, regardless of his team and as you said sometimes the best player will be in a team that fail to win the trophies but that doesn't mean the individual wasn't the best player.
