So by Cal and the Chief's logic Davies is a better player than Van Persie, Torres and Rooney.

They are idiots. Thus says life.

Unless we watch every game that Davies has played, it wouldn't be fair to answer that question, would it ?

Are you suggesting that Davies is so shite that its impossible for him to have two-thirds of a better season than Rooney ? If so, the goal scoring charts are useless and the better talent can always be considered as the better player in any season ?

Yes, it would. People do it all the time. If you asked a Bolton fan who'd had a better season, I bet they'd say Rooney.

Davies can definitely have a better season than Rooney.

He hasn't this season though.

Rooney had more goals and assists than Messi last season while playing less games. So, Kevin Davies is playing better than Messi did last season.

Well Rooney does look like Shrek. Not that it's relevant either.

If any stat should be looked at its Nose size and perhaps nasal passage distribution. Only then can we truly gauge footballing talent. If, and I stress if Davies has the biggest nose of the two then he is by far better at football than Rooney. Stands to reason.

You have made some fair points here.

But one must also consider the nose-to-tissue usage figures. Very underrated stat, that.

Its true that people do it all the time but doesn't mean its necessarily fair.

If your comment that he hasnt had a better season is based on watching a significant number of his games, then fair enough. If its purely based on who is more talented, then its perhaps not fair that his performance over one season is judged on his talent (or lack of it) rather than his contributions on the pitch.

Our system, which is both logical, fair and stat-accurate suggests that FIFA's next Ballon' d'Or winner should be: Robbie Savage.

I've watched enough football to realise that IK was probably wrong. Savage as great as he was, never quite had Keano's talent.

Opinions, I guess.

I think you're really underrating Fellaini here:

Fellaini has quite a nose however does he seem to break it every game? I've never seen The Savage without some sort of Nose injury. Nose-Breakage is equivalent to 1 goal per game, Nose-Bleed is an assist. Fellaini really has to up his Nose stats to be consistently better than Savage.

Who Knose what might happen in the future?

I don't think anyone ever bases who's had a better season on who's more talented.

Is Davies having a better season than Torres and Van Persie too?

Davies is having a very good season by his standards.

Top strikers in the Premiership - Torres, Van Persie, Rooney, Drogba are having mediocre seasons in front of goal by 'world class' standards. That much should be obvious from the goal charts that was posted earlier by Vulgar. Thats partly because of injuries though.

Strangely though, Vulgar's argument is that even though defences in Laliga are worse, Spanish attacking players are better based on comparing the goal stats of the two leagues. But the same stats and logic shouldnt be used to compare players playing the same league against different opposition because goal scoring charts are meaningless.

That might well be true, but overall they've all had good-very good seasons performances-wise.

Lets get rid of this 'his standards' crap and discuss in a straight forward manner. Since you clearly stated that Davies is having a better season than Rooney, Is he also having a better season than Torres and Van Persie?

I don't think he actually said that.

You may want to read my posts earlier in this thread. I haven't stated that, let alone clearly.

You clearly implied, but anyway let me rephrase the question,

Lets get rid of this 'his standards' crap and discuss in a straight forward manner. Is Davies also having a better season than Torres and Van Persie?

It would be better if you actually read my posts before jumping to a conclusion.....i am not going to post the same answers over again.....read some my earlier posts and you may understand. I cant explain it anymore that I already have.

Are you suggesting that Davies is so shite that its impossible for him to have two-thirds of a better season than Torres?

Try this one

this thread possibly has the most fail of all on the caf.

To be fair, you're a bit of a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime.

that was better than discussing whether Rooney is better than Davies or not.

'christ... kewell could never have grown into the tier below the best in the world'

or

'christ... giggs was obviously the best in the world.'

as for the latter, only mancs will assent to that.

Unlike giggs, Gerrard has actually been talked about as a top 3 player in the world beyond the club's own fanbase.

Except that he isnt even close to being amongst the best 3 footballers in the world. Better off trying to make the top 10. And to be fair, this year the attacking talent has been pretty poor alll round compared to previous years.
