Marquez does brilliantly in the international football, for Mexico he plays like a sweeper, defending deep and linking up with the midfield. He also played a similar role when he first broke in to the Barca but has faded in the last couple of season.
Na, you need to be crazy. Why compare them? Vidic has been the best defender in the world and Messi the best attacker. Attacking players tend to be better footballers than defenders. WHich player would be worth more? which player has done things no other can do?

Didnt do much apart from the header, wasn't that impressed. Rooney did so much hard work against Maicon that he deserves the mention. Giggs was great, Vidic was good, thought him and Rio struggled with Ibrahimovic too much for a guy up front on his own.
Well put it this way when teams can't score vs Vidic and he keeps scoring important goals he is doing both the attack and the defence.
I think you are wrong to claim that Messi is that much better than Vidic this season. I generally think that if Utd win the CL and Vidic shuts out Messi on the way he will have a strong claim for WPOTY.

I think your being harsh on Ronaldo, Inter shat themselves everytime he attacked with the ball. Theres not many players in the world who can have that effect on another team. I felt he played well last night - was always a threat, good goal and good movement, not too mention the constant threat he was.

Now United were lucky to keep a clean sheet, not blaming vidic for that but he isn't flawless. He should have been red carded last weekend if i remember correctly.

Well considering one of my favourite players of all time is Maldini and in my footballing youth i played left back or in central defence i actually have an awful lot of time for a good defender. When Cannavaro won it i didnt think he was the best player in the world. When Nesta was outstanding i still thought Ronaldo was a better player. WHen Maldini was at his very best at left back i still think the other attacking players, Van Basten, Baggio, Ronaldo again were all better players.
Defending is an art but it's not what football is all about and that is why it is so rare for a defender to win it. Vidic is good, he's damn good. He's the best center half in the world, but that doesn't make him the best player in the world.

But Messi can beat his man, ride over tackles, better in one touch football and moving the ball brilliantly and not losing his creativity in due course not always the case with Ronaldo.

Cannot figure out this Ronaldo love in, he is nowhere near his 06/07 form when he was unplayable, or last season when he rarely dominated but found the net consistently. This season he is on par with Gerrard, running around, passes lacking penetration yet scoring some goals.

Every other creative player would get double marked it generally opens up space for the other attackers, not the case with Ronaldo alone. Its the ability to dominate against an organized defending consistenly when the stakes are high, cuts the greats from the rest. Messi has done that cosistently ever since he broke through.

If he needs to catch up with Messi from now on, he must step in to the next level.

Liverpool are mediocre but Madrid were worse, Benetiz was better than Ramos there is nothing more to read in to that.
