Probably the fact they have scored like 20+ more goals and the most entertaining team in world football? Real Madrid last season were more machine whereas this Barca team is just incredible to watch. Like KingEric7 has pointed out as well unbelievable quality within the squad as well

I already said I agreed with most of KingEric7's post.

Whoop-tee-doo... on form means shit without trophies. United are presently the undisputed CHAMPIONS OF EVERYTHING.

minus the UEFA Super Cup of course

So what?

We talk about United more than any other team.

We probably talk about Spurs even more than Barcelona.

Some people need to get over the fact Barcelona and Messi deserve a lot of praise and are a joy to watch.

fair enough, they are incredible to watch

but i'm curious what would happen to cafers on this thread if barca don't even make it to the CL final, which i'm predicting they won't

Don't talk rubbish.

West Brom, Newcastle and Hull and are the three teams with the most goals conceded this season - 44, 40 and 46 respectively.

On the other hand the three teams with the most goals conceded in La Liga are Numancia, Sporting Gijon and Mallorca with 43, 44 and 39 goals conceded respectively.

You clearly no feck all about La Liga.

know

fixed

And why do you care?

Why put people down because of it?

Live and let live, and all that jizz.

Perhaps because I'm on a United forum and support the club and only this club but seems so many on here want to prop up Messi and/or Barcelona yet call themselves United fans. FFS, all this non-sense over Messi being the greatest player ever. Barcelona playing the best football in recent memory. Fine to enjoy the show but to constantly masturbate over it all, puh-lease. And Barca happen to be the one club in Spain I've always had a soft spot for but this non-sense is putting me off.

Who did I put down?

Oh no, some people are football fans as well as United fans. For shame, eh?

Like I said, live and let live. Don't see why you take it upon yourself to tell people to stop ***ping over Messi, or why it bothers you at all.

Anyone who compliments Messi, with your sarcastic comments.

Why does it bother you so much?

As I stated, enjoy the show but the constant masturbating is ridiculous. I'm sure you were overly joyed by the constant media rant over Arsenal's "sublime football" while United were winning trophies as well as the creaming of Arsenal's "youngsters."

It doesn't, which is why I've come out with 'live and let live' and you've come out with 'FFS', seems to be two completely different tones here.

I did quite like watching Arsenal's sublime football actually, and what the media said about their youngsters doesn't mean anything to me.

The media are run by idiots.

The same media which is creaming over Messi.

They're idiots only when you don't agree with them and geniuses when you do?

It's not really though, is it?

The British media don't really talk about him all that often.

The media are just always idiots.

The same media who cream over anyone fancy doing well. Ronaldo was creamed over more than anyone in recent memory last season. In the papers, in commentary and anywhere else there was to cream over him. So what? who cares? You read the news and you take it in whichever way you like, always with a pinch of salt.

I don't think the news or whatever is the reason Barca and Messi are coming in for praise on a United Forum, of which this is the general football forum section of the site, not the Manchester United forum which is dedicated to all things United related for your enjoyment.

Basically if you watch football and enjoy the beautiful game then at this moment in time you'll probably find Barca the most enjoyable to watch outside of the team you support. I think if a team in any of the big leagues was dominating the way Barca have or had a player doing what Messi is doing they would be a hot topic in a forum full of genuine fans of the sport. I would imagine so at least.

Messi looks as good as nearly anyone I can remember.

Haha... Jesus... the level of animosity towards those who dare place a Barca player over a United player is ridiculous. You can still be objective, despite being a supporter, y'know.

Are the people who complain the same sort of people who wouldn't care to see a game unless it's United or a national team with United players on it?

Just curious

That said, I'm glad the comparisons to Maradona have died down... that was an affront to el Diego.

Another wankfest over Messi.

Can we at least wait till the CL resumes?

then, this goal will be old news :smirk:

I think its fair to say Ronaldo has never been this good, in a single game or over a period of few months.

You just expect that sort of goal now. He's something else.

It's funny how the defenders all ran towards Messi, despite the open man on the edge of the box. It's just as amusing that Messi ignored him, and went for goal himself.

When given a more central role,he's more devastating than when he starts on the wing and cuts inside.

Who were the 'defenders' in that clip? Who lined up for you last night?

Is there a longer gif of the goal than the one marcos put up? Messi only beats one man in the gif.

It's a good goal, but doesn't seen particularly amazing unless something happens earlier in the play that the gif doesn't show?

I'm proud to be a Messi masturbator. If you don't get excited by the most thrilling sight in world football then you may be blinded by some misplaced bitterness.

I just feel 'catch it while you can' with Messi. I'm not saying he's better than Maradonna but there's nothing around quite like the Messi show, you'd be foolish to miss it. Maybe it's the Youtube generation that are happy to 'watch it later' wrapped in pop music and flashy effects. But for me, with the game in such an ugly state I feel that any moments of beauty need to be savoured.

Not so much Barca. They've been excellent but I still think that in Europe they will be heavily tested.

*** *** ***.

can definitely agree with that. Messi and the way he plays is a breath of fresh air.

Back four were Sanga, Mexes, Gallas, Abidal.

France actually were the better team for large parts of the match, only when Argentina went up 2-0 did they start to knock it around with a swagger.

Here is some Messi magic for those who missed it.

I hope you're joking.

I can't believe anyone made a youtube video of that, he had two meaningful pieces of play on the ball and that was it.

He had a good game against a strong team. What's to argue about the kid is a fantastic player end of. I'd have no problems welcoming him at OT.

Nice to see Tevez involved in the break away for Messi's goal. Had lots to do and done it well, Messi. Wasnt his best game, but the opposition doesnt get too much tougher and he scored a very good solo goal.

surely you were watching Ireland or England Brwned ;)

People make videos for Messi after every game. If you don't watch him live it's not a bad way to see his impact.

Watched both actually. :D

Ireland match was definitely better I thought.

Just from that youtube video though, he seemed well defended in it.
