Barca are a great team but the defending in Spain is ridiculously bad. There's no discipline at all. United would've a field day in Spain as well.

Spanish teams need to watch the likes of Sunderland, Boro, Wigan and Bolton defending against a big team.

Scored 50 goals in the first half of the reason... A new record in the Liga

More reason to worry, if we run in to them.

They are favorites right now, but if our defence can keep up he current form and Rio and Brown return, we can easily win.

Xavi was top notch again; Iniesta excellent when he came on. Alves was MoM. Messi was Messi. Henry getting better. Eto'o looks hungrier and more interested this year. Puyol solid. Pique looks to have settled very well. Abidal looks to be regaining the form he displayed a couple of years ago. Keita and Yaya, well they're DMs.

The CL KO rounds are a bit away. They're bound to take a bit of a dip sometime ... you'd think!

Messi fan boy club

Mainoldo is a Ronaldo fan boy and an utter tosspot. He gets techincally ruled out and Dipper gets the wild card.

The potential in that Barcelona team has been there for a while now, but I don't think anyone envisaged this sort of domination.

Special team; I'd love to see us play them again.

I can put my post count in this thread entirely down to folk arguing Messi isn't all that, when he's the best player in the game today, and in my opinion by some distance

Not sure that's fanboyism. I'd call it anti-blindbastardism

messi's having a good season he is ... 21 goals in 24 games ...
BTW kouroux = feckhead ... needs to feck off to paris

Aye, this for example:

I'd rather have Ronaldo

Ronaldo >>>> Messi

Yeah he's having a good season. 21 in 24 goals is amazing but you have to think about what league they're playing in. I bet Emile Heskey would average 20 goals a season in La Liga. Every team defends like Derby County last season.

You lot make it sound like Altrincham could acclimatise to La Liga. It's a very strong league, and the standard of opposition can't be blamed for Barcelona's domination, just as it wasn't in England when Arsenal went the whole season unbeaten.

Marvellous, I get to do some myth busting

Last season, 1021 goals were scored in La Liga. 1002 were scored in the Premier League. The difference is less than the number of goals you reckon Heskey would score in La Liga

So basically, what you're saying is absolute bollocks :)

But not as much bollocks it seems as Ripley, who's about to find himself canned I suspect

That's just complete nonsense mate, Spanish teams are very well organised. There's a much higher standard of organization in Spain, very good at dealing with the ball on the floor. It's why Henry struggled a lot last season, defenders read clever inside balls and one-twos much better than the likes of Bolton or Wigan's bruisers. Just accept Barcelona are an awesome side, the best team on current form in the world by far. Messi may be good but it's hardly coincidence he looks amazing playing for a side as incredible as this one. I mean if these Spanish sides are so crap at defending then why do they have such fantastic records in the Uefa cup and why in the uefa cup do Premier League sides consistantly get beat by them? It's a river in Egypt.

I'd consider telling someone to go back to where they came from racist, or if not that, total arseholeist

Surpised some bothered to try and defend him, given he'd done it several times
