Just read a fascinating stat. Messi fouled Real Madrid players 6 times in the match. More than any other on the pitch

He should have got a yellow card for a deliberate handball but seconds earlier I thought he should have gotten the free kick so I forgive him for that. But 5 other fouls? Easy to miss the number seeing as they weren't very harsh.

Is this as many fouls as he has conceded in the last 6 games?

And another stat. Or more of a question that I haven't got the answer to. Apparently there are 3 players who have scored 10 goals or more in the PL with a better goal per minute ratio than Messi:eek:

I reckon its Hernandez, RvP and Carroll.

That can't be true, wtf? Source?

Messi has more goals than appearances, surely the last part can't be true?

Just some clarification about the fouls:

OptaJoe Opta Sports
5 - L Messi conceded more fouls than any other Barcelona player v R Madrid yesterday & 2nd most in game behind L Diarra (6). Hatchet.

Didn't Rio do the same thing at the stretford end a few seasons ago:confused:
No that time Rio just lashed out at the ball which ended up hitting some woman ( a United fan ). Messi knew what he was doing when he hit that ball.

It was definitely wrong of Ferdinand.

Ronaldo passes to Ferdi, who is on his way to the box. Somebody obstructs Ronaldo. Referee blows to give a free kick to United. If advantage had been played, it could have ended up in a goal. That is frustration.

Please correct me if I am wrong, because I did not see that particular match, and am drawing conclusions from the vid.

Was Messi in a similar situation?

It depends how you look at it,

both situations came out of frustration resulting with lashing out with the ball.

Rio with what you described and Messi who didn't have enough pace/ball was overhit to keep it in play.

The Ferdinand and Messi incidents are identical. I don't think footballers even think about the ball hitting fans when they belt it off the pitch. If they did worry about that, how could they fire the ball at the goal?

Both incidents were players kicking the ball in frustration, without thinking about who or what it might hit.

I don't know about that, Messi could clearly see who he was going to hit before he kicked it, Rio was never really looking up.

Generally speaking yes.

Don't know what it is but I must be the only person in the world who can't take to the little fella.

He's a fantastic dribbler of the ball but that's it for me.

He's clearly the best around. Can't say I'm a fan of him though. He just doesn't entertain me that much. I guess some players you find it easier to warm to than others.

If we're talking about entertainment, I think Rooney right now is one of the best around of late. He's just fantastic to watch when he plays in the role he is. In fact his partnership with Hernandez is right now I think the most exciting thing around.

The incidents appear very similar, other than Rio's obvious anger was paused to apologise straight away whereas Messi looked confused as to why there was an issue.

God knows really. Very hard to know the players intention so it's unfair to call it either way.

That's probably because Rio almost sparked a middle aged woman but Messi did no obvious damage.

Is it wrong to find the Rio clip kind of funny? I always love it when you see someone get caught unawares in the crowd and smacked in the head with the ball.

Thread stats?

Is there anyway to get the stats on who's posted the most and how many times in this thread? I've seen people provide stats like that before but I'm not sure how they did it. It'd be good to see who's the most obsessed with a non United player. It'd be even more interesting to see if they have more posts on Messi than on United players.

He may be the best player in the world but he's not a united player, why the hell people feel the need to spend so much time analysing a non united player is beyond me (Marcos maybe forgiven, seeing as Messi's his fellow countryman).

Just hover your mouse over the number of replies ("Replies"column to the right) until you get the little hand and then click on it.

EDIT: got it.

1)FV (self confessed Messi fan boy): 894 posts
2)Cal? (self confessed Ronaldo fan boy): 651 posts
3)Boss (Oh no he's no fan boy): 485 posts

Two of those three are so called United "supporters".

Do you mean where it has the hashtag followed by the number of the reply? If so, when I click on it, it takes me to just that post. If not, could you please expand?

Thanks again.
There is a number in the replies column.....8,024 at the moment...on the page of the football forum showing all the threads. Forgot that bit before, sorry. Hover your mouse over that number and then click on it.

EDIT: I've see you've already done it, good. :)

I can pay respect to the greatest footballer no matter where he plays, I feel not even the slightest shame in doing so.

What a hypocrite

My thread was aimed at a certain type of fan boi that starts tp support Real because their player is there and accuse people of being Barca fans because they don't jump on the pro cr69/Mourinho/Madrid. Bandwagon.

That is why only a select few posters were on the wall of shame despite there being many fan Bois as I don't have a problem with them in general.

That's who the wall did not contain no cal? and no Lailiani .

I can nor break it down further than this, of you still don't get or you were deservedly on the wall.

Well you did receive critical acclaim for your wonderful thread. Let's not go down this road again Boss, your reputation on here has been shattered enough as it is. I wish that thread wasn't deleted.

Uh, what reputation did I have before?!

I'll love for that thread to be re-opened because the op is 100% true and it certainly struck a nerve with you.

I'm deciding whether to carry the wall of Shame on my location in honor of a lad not scared to expose you guys.

It did? I thought it was hilarious, but alas I had to sleep and unfortunately it was gone by morning.

I was hoping that you'd find posts I made to back up your claim :(

EDIT: And I actually thought you were a good poster Boss, the only thing that you let me down on was your constant Barca wank fest..

There's paying respect (not that Messi's dead), then there's posting around 500 times in a single thread about the player, behind only in numbers to a huge self confessed Messi fan boy and a Ronaldo fan boy, who no doubt racked up a lot of posts just arguing about who was better. How you then can claim not to be a fan boy and have the cheek to even type up a post like the one below, is beyond me:

Err KM posted several of his posts whereby you can see he quite clearly dislikes both Real and Barca.

Nope I've only paid respect to a great team. I've never once in my disgustingly high posts said I like this team but you Ronaldo/sudden Madrid fans would imagine it all you want.

I paid respect to Real when they won the Copa del Rey and I was called a real fan.

When Madrid play well I congratulating them for it but you Ronaldo fans can't stand it any sort of kudos that goes Barca's way. All since the 80 million transfer right?
