But he didnt score, it was only in the last game he did trouble the defenders - his all around game had an impact. In his previous games Ronaldo was nothing extra apart from the goals he scored. Zlatan has scored as many goals in the same league and his all round game has been brilliant, Xavi has also been immense since the league started.

In the PL Rooney is carrying our attack, it gets as simple as that, so does Torres for Liverpool...Ronaldo should beat all these players before warranting a comparison with the holy one.

Against Villareal he was terrorising them with his dribbling all game, from start to finish. I really don't know how you have come to this conclusion. Also please refrain from referring to players as the holy one.

Ronaldo got an early goal against them, gained in confidence, and was stretching them a bit...Cannot figure out you can call it as terrorizing the defence.

Because he was sipping past the full back with ease, constantly bringing the ball out of play with devastating speed throughout the game and always drawing fouls. I guess with your objective high standards this all means nothing. Stratching them a bit...

I'm with Vijay on this one. With the championship quality defending and acres of space given in la liga, scoring goals is not enough. You need to run over and dominate teams like Messi does week in and week out, something Ronaldo hasn't done so far expect in patches.

You've been watching the matches Merman?

I've watched most of the top teams last season, but not as much this season. But yes, I do watch the highlights and some times a recorded version of the game. Its not all that difficult to score goals in la liga.

Messi has been playing in La liga for 5 years now. Ronaldo had only played 5 league matches and obviously everyone will take a bit of time to fully adapt in the team and then maybe show their dominance depending on their ability.

Why do you say this? Judging from Torres yesterday would it be more difficult to score goals in the prem?

Hull are arguably the worst team in this league and are a relegation contenders. Its not difficult to score goals in that league because the defending is below par and the midfields don't harry the opposition as much. It is the exact opposite of the Serie A where the 'perfect match' ends up 0-0. Premiership has the best balance between the two and has all the good things from both the Serie A and La Liga. No wonder it is the most entertaining.

Is this some sort of questionnaire to make sure I watch la liga or not? You know I could google if I really wanted to fake my interest in the sissy league? As I said, I haven't watched too many matches this season, hell I don't even get to watch most united matches until Tuesday morning. Everybody who has discussed with me last season will tell you I watch(ed) la liga regularly and despise it with passion:p

Nah, not at all, I was just interested in your opinion since you know stated Messi has been dominated matches and Ronaldo in patches. I just wanted to see how you thought these two other players have been playing in the matches you saw.

Granero for me.. is very talented, his close ball control especially in the hustle and bustle of midfield is eye-catching. The only question mark I'd have over him is a slight lack of pace(could he cut in the Champions league?) and I haven't seen him spray the ball around ..tends to keep it abit simple but alot of potential.

Iniesta's been decent since his return, still feeling his way back so abit early to judge. Hopefully he can incorporate more long-range strikes into his game and advance his game even further..as he clearly has the ability to get more goals in his locker.

Granero has impressed me as well, I don't think he's one of those players who depends not pace, he's certainly no slouch and he has an eye for goal and is a good dribbler that's for sure.

Iniesta was shocking in his first game against Getafe and almost gifted the ball away on every occasion but he's slowly finding himself. I did n't catch all of the game yesterday so I was interested on how he played. I believe it was his first start. It would be nice to see him take on long range shots but I just don't think it's in his game. He likes to control the midfield way more than trying to score goals.

What would you say about the Messi wonder goal against Getafe and Maradona's against the English then eh?

England had a strong team in 86, it was France, Argentina and England the favourites to win Mexico 86, ahead of West Germany once the tournament heated up.

Jesus repeated his predecessor Brazilian Ronaldo and their master Maradona feat few years back with the magnificient show of skill against Getafe, but that team was managed by a better manager who won the league with Real and morever it was a Spanish cup semifinal . That team had managed to at least reached that level.

Morever you can see the authority in Giggs, Fat Ronaldo and Jesus whenever they blaze past defenders, Ronaldo isnt as good as these immortals.

Great manager and all, but Getafe, the burger king boys was a bit shite, no?

You're in over your head in the first place and calling Messi jesus an all is well...

Pun aside every other top player I've seen in the post Maradona era be it Laudrup, Romario, Baggio, Zidane, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho to Messi can all get tied up a bit against organized defending. Maradona was an exception, the better and tougher the defence the more devastating he would be.

Ronaldo has 7 goals from 6 LL and CL games.

Messi & Zlatan both have 5...

La Liga stats for all 3 players.

Messi has been by far the most impressive. 5 goals and 3 assists from 3 starts and one sub appearance.

Zlatan has 5 goals and 2 assists from 4 starts and 1 sub appearance.

Ronaldo has 5 goals, zero assists from 4 starts and 1 sub appearance. The goals have been from 29 shots on goal of which 13 were on target. In comparison Zlatan being the only actual out and out striker has hit 18 shots with 12 on target. As for Messi, 11 shots with 8 on target.

Statistically in la liga Messi and Ibra have been superior to Ronaldo by quite a margin. Neither have scored a penalty or free kick either.

As for the CL stats, Barcelona played against Inter Milan in the san siro. Madrid played against FC Zurich.....

Again, what is it with you (& Arsenal fans) obsessing with "assists"?

Some of them are brilliant, eg Giggs past 2 matches, some of them are a mere sideway past, eg Messi against Chelsea.

The fact is Ronaldo has scored more goals this season than either Messi or Zlatan. Live with it.

Oh one more thing, scoring freekicks is difficult...

But the ones with Ronaldo scored was rubbish.

His freekicks were also rubbish against Tenerife

Everything Ronaldo does is rubbish according to you and FV.

Messi on the other hand dominates every single match he plays in, especially the ones in South American WC games.

Well a sideways pass to set up a chance is better than nothing. If you dont have any assists then you arent creating many good chances. If you dont create chances your team wont score many goals. The fact Ronaldo has barely any assists over the last couple of seasons means he isnt very creative or good at creating chances for others.

You wont take any stat bar goals, go figure. I am of the opinion that there is more to football than goals, you clearly arent. I'm sure if Ronaldo could manage an assist you would see them as valid stats. In short he has been on the pitch longer, had more attempts on goal and is still barely keeping up with others in la liga.

I see no point in bringing up a solitary game in the CL, after 5 matches in the CL we can judge players more accordingly. 1 game against the champions of Italy in Italy or one game agaisnt FC Zurich, a swiss team... YOu are really clutching at straws as usual cal. Everyone agrees Ronaldo is brilliant, you dont need to hold onto the one thing he has that others dont when it is so meaningless just to make out like it means something.

You were slagging off Messi for not scoring as many as Ronaldo in the first week. messi wasnt even playing

really shows the level of your bitterness. Messi has been the standout player in La Liga again. Less games, less shots, more assists and equal goals. He is just a better footballer. I dont expect you to ever admit it but as it becomes more and more obvious everyone will have to.

More shots than any player in the league yet he isnt even top scorer. "But he's a winger!" yeah most wingers have more shots than any striker in the league... laughable.

What a tool, i've openly said he didnt perform in some of those games for Argentina yet you forget that. In every start messi has had in la liga he has been MOTM or in at least 2 our of the 3. Has ronaldo been MOTM yet for madrid? ;)

I also forgot Ronaldo has been in such good form for Portugal recently.:wenger: At least Messi has managed to score a couple and create some for others in Argentinas campaign which is more than Ronaldo has managed since he hasnt scored a single goal in qualifying. You really should learn not to lie then bring up something in which to make your own man look bad cal? it helps to know what you are talking about.

Please stick to your one thing he has to justify his brilliance "but Ronaldo scored two freekicks against a swiss team!!!" really no other player in the world can compete with that

Again, a sideway pass and Iniesta wacks it in from 30 yards makes it an assist, a great pass whilst Raul skies the ball from a few yards, is not. You get the drift?

What is this stupid argument about attempts now? Having less attempts is good? Have you actually turned into an Arsenal fan? Assists, assists, assists and an obsession with NOT shooting?

Messi the standout player? Messi could be sitting in the physio room and you'd still call him the standout player.

The fact is Ronaldo has moved to a new league, is topscorer in that league right now, and have played the tougher games so far...

MoTM, well, if you hand those out, Messi will get all 38, even the ones he doesn't play in.

As for Portugal, suffice the say the rest of the Portugal team is nowhere near as goos as the Argentina team, also Argentina is in the much much easier qualifying group.
