LGBT issues in Football

What happened to ‘Free speech?’. Just because somebody doesn’t like the policy of another country does make it wrong. Only in their eyes . I don’t agree with Poland or the Arab countries but that is they way they want to run their country, who are we to get involved with it. How would we react if the Arab countries campaigned against us drinking alcohol? If you don’t like it, don’t go. If you live there and don’t like it, leave.

You forgot to call everyone snowflakes.

I will tell you what happened to free speech. Children in Hungary won’t be able to see TV programs about gay or lesbian or transgender people. Teachers won’t be able to talk with the kids about LGBTQ matters, not even in biology class. If a gay student is being abused for being gay, teachers won’t be able to say ‘hey guys, don’t bully your classmate, he’s perfectly fine, you should support him’. I know, it’s not the answed you were expecting, but this is what happened to free speech in Hungary.

Mic drop.

You're a moron.

And you're a moron too.
Correct.

Even more correct.

Seriously how can you care about somebody calling you names on an internet hehe. It's his freedom of speech so actually I hope nobody's punishing for that.

Can you people who keep yelling about freedom of speech please learn what it actually is? This is an Internet forum, it does not have freedom of speech. It has rule, we cannot say anything we please.

Your posts go from one outstanding level of ignorance to another. I hope they don’t give a refraction for calling you a moron because it really has been the best description of the moronic drivel you have filled this thread with.

Technically, freedom of speech has nothing to do with a private forum. Niall could ban any of us simply because he doesn't like our names or because he's got a bad hangover.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with anything, because it, quite simply, does not exist. Just an utopian concept. Doesn't mean we can't dream ir talk about it :).

I think the main problem with freedom of speech simply the lack of understanding of what it actually is. Freedom of speech is being able to speak your mind without being punished by the government. Twitter for inatance, has nothing to do with it, since Twitter is not a government and users are not its subjects.

Furthermore, freedom of speech is not and never meant to be, without limits. I cannot start a political party with the main political point being, lets kill all blonde people. Or let's ban all gays.

Thirdly (is that a word?) freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences. If you walk up to your boss and start calling him an incompetent piece of shite, he can fire you without impeding your right to freedom of speech.

Im sure there are people who advocate unlimited freedom of speech and maybe that would work, if the world wasn't full of cnuts, but eh, sadly it is. So everyone saying anything that crosses their mind hardly seems like a Utopian concept.

Any credible source for this yet? Could UEFA even do this?

There's certain countries where people don't want to let go of out dated religious beliefs. I'm in a country now where a right wing government is in power, connected to the evangelist church. My girlfriend is evangelist and right wing. She gets bombarded with fake news on her evangelist WhatsApp groups showing gay men having orgies on the streets during gay pride festivals, and she's brainwashed into thinking this is how society will become if we move away from our traditional ways, without realizing that some straight men will just as often engage in similar behaviour with straight women at other wild festivals, whether Mardi Gras or Carnaval or whatever, when plastered out of their minds.

Hungary is a place that still tries to hold onto their old ways and traditions, but as the country becomes more multi-cultural and progressive, over time they will gradually move away from out-dated beliefs that serve no place in the modern world.

Freedom of speech does not accept double standards and is just ruthless. That's why I say it doesn't exist although some countries are closer to it than the others. That's why I liked 'offsideagain' post when he said if you're happy where you live, stay there and that it's weird to hear people from different countries telling you how to live.

As it so happens, I'm happy where I am and wouldn’t trade it for any of the western countries definitely.

Some people don't have the privilege to just up and move to a place where they will be accepted for who they are.

UEFA have absolutely bottled this. Without going into the politics (what's generally been going on in Hungary (and Poland) over the last few years (and the fact Boris the clown met Orban for a meeting earlier this year), they had such good PR from the Super League fallout.

It's not been 2 months and they've lost that goodwill and more. Absolute idiots and it exposes them as the money-grabbing scumbags that we all know they are.

I laughed earlier in the Euros when something about equality was being displayed before a game because of the hypocrisy of staging the World Cup in Qatar but this latests episode is taking the hypocrisy a few more notches higher.

UEFA should consider which countries have the best leagues and the most money in Europe. Hint: it's not the ones who love to hate everything that's slightly different to their pathetic world view.

I guess Hungary and Poland can pay the EU back since that money they're getting year-in, year-out is from these countries with such controversial values.

But guess what? They won't because Orban will be out on his arse in no time since support for the EU is high in Hungary. This cherry-picking nonsense has to have an end at some point.

so in your view changing the policies of a country is impossible?

With that attitude we'd still be living in places where women can't vote and segregation is still a thing.

In that case, better ban homosexuals as well. Poor people in the stadium could find themselves in conflict with peope daring to be different to them.

Either way, moot point now. Still a PR car crash
Not saying I would agree, but knowing Hungarian fans, would be reasonable :(

I don’t know guys/gays. The problem I have with the LGBT movement is that it’s so sexulized. Maybe that’s part of why countries like Hungary and Russia don’t like “propaganda” towards children. Everyone should live with who they want and love who they want but why does the movement turn so sexual? I wouldn’t want my children looking at the pridetrain. At least not as it looks like here in Sweden.

For them it's just about who they love, not sex.

Ninjaedit: i do agree that they might be a bit sexualized, the parades, but that's not what LGBT is about.

Are you equating human rights violations based on sexuality to drinking pints? It's a novel comparison at least. You don't seem too intelligent.

Well then leave the sexualiziation out of it. If they can. No need to dress in BDSM clothes, throwing dildos and showing penises. Can they do that?

You do know gays. Until now they have obviously not felt secure/brave enough to come out.

Moreover when they try to live "normally" they are still harassed, mocked, attacked. A minority of gay and other non-straight people are the extroverted free-love leather wearing types, the rest probably wear jeans and feel isolated because they don't live in a big cosmopolitan city and can't meet like-minded people.

I wonder if Hungary and Russia would have a problem with a fit lesbians and bi girls parade...

Seen parades where straight people do the same, honestly.

Then don’t take them? No one is forcing you take your kids to a pride march  Although, in the same respect, I’m assuming Hungary has banned sexualised music videos in case kids see them?

It's incredible how the right wing trash can bring everything back to "free speech".

What you're complaining about is people using their right to free speech to highlight oppressive laws that are denying people free speech, free expression, freedom to even identify as themselves. People don't like these policies precisely because they are wrong. Persecuting someone because of their sexual preference is absolutely disgusting and anyone who claims to support any kind of freedom would say as much, but you don't, not really.
