Lets laugh at Liverpool

If Woy really thinks Liverpool can't compete on more than one front, the obvious competitions to give up on are the wafer league and the FA Cup. Crashing out of the Carling Cup last night massively fecked up their chance of winning anything at all this season, without any significant reduction in the amount of football they have to play. They must be gutted.

He didn't give up on the Carling Cup but it obviously was not his priority. And I would much rather prioritise the FA Cup than the CC. I find it strange you think the other way. Or anyone who thinks the other way tbh.

Hodgson put a team out that he thought strong enough to win the game. And it should have. Easily. Sometimes events conspire. Leeds last year at OT maybe?

I'm not saying he should prioritise the CC ahead of the FA Cup. I'm saying that if Liverpool really thought they couldn't compete on more than one front this season, then the obvious cup competition to give up on would be the FA Cup. This is in response to people claiming that they'll be pleased about losing last night, because it means less games and your only priority should be coming fourth. Personally, I think they should do their best to win every trophy going, just like every season.

Yup. It's football. Shit happens.

Mind you, I'm not sure I see the comparison between getting beaten by a Championship team on a brilliant run of form in their own ground and getting beaten - at home - by a team 4 divisions below you.

Hodgson's priorities in my view should be: PL, FA Cup, CC, EL. I would have been far more disappointed if last night was an FA Cup tie. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one comp to compete in another. That said - and as I said previously - the team Hodgson put out last night should have comfortably dispatched of Northampton.

The comparison is getting beaten by a team you should have comfortably beaten. Did you really not see that? You're an obtuse bugger sometimes, Pogue.

edit: Forgot to mention that Leeds beat you at OT and were a League One team. That has nothing to do with my point though, merely educating you.

Who's that then?

Yep. Leeds were a League One side, my bad. They still came into that game on a phenomenal run of form and don't bear really bear comparison with a team currently languishing in 17th place in League 2, after winning one league game in seven, so far this season.

My point stands, Pogue.

As far as your dick measuring "our loss was better than your loss" is concerned, see GlastonSpur. He turns every convo into a dick measuring comp too. You two will get on grand methinks.

Nah, I can't stand GlastonSpur.

Massively ironic that you're accusing me of turning this into a "dick measuring competion" about "our loss vs your loss" seeing as you were the one who decided to crowbar a reference to a United defeat into a discussion about Liverpool's result last night. You do that a lot.

It's only ironic to you because you seemingly haven't really been able to fathom a rather straightforward point, Pogue.

I don't think the issue here is Liverpool getting knocked out of the League Cup it's the fact that they lost, at home to a team languishing near the foot of the old fourth division...in what is probably their most humiliating loss ever.
I think we as United Supporters can allow ourselves a wry chuckle!

plus of course leeds would always be able to find that extra gear playing us

Huge rivalry with Liverpool and Northampton going back decades.

typically over emotional scouser..jesus wept

I actually thought he was reasonably calm considering the shite that his team are right now and that match in particular. It just makes me laugh that Roy Hodgson gets all the blame when nearly all his players are Benitez signings. Even the owners aren't getting the blame now.

Oh, and :lol::lol::lol::lol::p:lol::lol:

wwrroomm...

Stevie Hunchback says they're going to be top 4...

It's kind of blatant now though...Roy, ffs you're overdoing it - you're supposed to take them down gradually like Rafa did. They'll bloody sack you if you're not careful

A manager's best interview till date. Do you lads remember this interview from last year's Stoke City Vs Liverpool?

Liverpool being shite is the only thing making me feel better at our form at the moment!! Thank god for small mercies !

A real gem... and they say that he was the scouseland saviour? :wenger:

36% possession against Stoke

Don't you know “when you come to Stoke you know you are in for a battle whoever you are."

"If only we had been less creative" we might not have conceded one of those goals...

I quite dislike those "let's laugh at..." threads. They are infantile.
