Lets laugh at Liverpool

Yeah and Liverpool supporters aren't upset about this result and all.No big deal indeed :wenger:

You can be quite certain that if Owen hadn't scored tonight, he'd be bitching about it. But since he did, twice, the entire competition is now rendered completely meaningless. Even when Liverpoo are eliminated at home, to a fourth division team.

What a weirdo.

Beyond unreasonable, this has nothing to do with Michael Owen you weird stalking poster, you brought him up!

Hey I'm sure they're disappointed right now but Liverpool aren't going to measure the success of their season based on their performance in the league cup.

Mourinho's first Trophy was the League Cup and Fergie winning it in 2006 was similarly the springboard for future success. Only twats underestimate the value of winning this Trophy.
You trying to suggest the two semi-finals with Citeh last season meant jack shit??

Hey I'm sure they're disappointed right now but Liverpool aren't going to measure the success of their season based on their performance in the league cup.

success? How daft are you...

This is about being humiliated by a second division team at home.

Forget about success. How about measuring failure. Losing at home to a team that's got a stadium which max's out at 7000. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I can't see the magnitude fella, I didn't get worked up when we got knocked out by York and Coventry.

Maybe magnitude is the wrong word. The Carling Cup is definitely not the last word in prestige. However, on the back of a painful loss over the weekend, and being 16th in the league right now, I'd dare say they really didn't want to lose this one. Least of all to a club a few tiers beneath them.

The League Cup means nothing (tbh) if you are competing for the title or the Champions League. If you are trying for 4th and consider yourself the equal of United or Chelsea it means a whole lot more.

They'd be delighted with some silverware, in the season that's in it. Any silverware at all. They've just been knocked out of the one competition they had a reasonable chance of winning. Surely that's worth a laugh?

That was there only (remote) chance of a trophy this season. That said, they probably aren't bothered because they would have known that a weakened United team would still have shat all over them at some point during the competition.

Any Liverpool supporter annoys you today, just say "Cobblers".

It really is wrong to laugh at the retarded. We should be laughing at the likes of Man City now, Liverpool we should feel sorry for.

not! hahahahaha

I'm spoiled because I don't value a superfluous competition? All the decent sides put out a weakened side in this competition, what does that say? I'm happy that our younger players get a good run-out but seriously who gives a toss about the league cup?

Pretty much yeah.

It's worth a laugh but the fewer games Liverpool have to play this season the better considering their lack of strength in depth in the squad. I'm sure Hodgson and the Liverpool fans are more concerned with reclaiming 4th and seeing the future of their club stabilised than a minor trophy.

Personally I don't think they've a chance in hell of finishing 4th this year. Both Spurs and City have much stronger squads, and that's before City go spend more money in Jan. The only thing I could see derailing them is sacking Mancini.

All this 'Its only a minor trophy' bollocks whenever a team gets knocked out makes me chuckle.
Realistically it's only a 'minor trophy' to the teams pretty much guaranteed to finish in the top 3 and who have a realistic chance of winning the Champs League...in a nutshell Utd and Chelsea who between them have won it 5 out of the last 6 seasons!
Such an inconveniance!

But it is a minor trophy. It's hard to get excited about it, even when we do win it.

The only time it has ever really mattered to me was in 1983 and 2003, when we lost both finals to the scousers. And that was only because it was them in the final.

The Carling Cup is the trophy with the least amount of games needed to play before the final. It's the perfect piece of silverware for a club that wants to prioritise the league but still have something to show for themselves at the end of the season. They just needed to win two more games of football and they're in a semi-final. How many other trophies can you say that about?

If Woy really thinks Liverpool can't compete on more than one front, the obvious competitions to give up on are the wafer league and the FA Cup. Crashing out of the Carling Cup last night massively fecked up their chance of winning anything at all this season, without any significant reduction in the amount of football they have to play. They must be gutted.

That's because under Fergie we have been spoilt rotten. City supporters would give their right arms to win a Trophy at Wembley as would any gooner in the last five years.
