Let's all laugh at England

I thought this thread was going to be humorous but it appears to be the usual stupid arguments... I'm out

Can't wait until Hectic falls down or shits himself so I can start the let's all laugh at Hectic thread.
If that happened, he'd probably open at least two similar threads before you even started typing.

What about our very own English players, what would they think if they saw their own "fans" wish them to fail?
What about United fans who wanted England to win against Scotland? What would McTominay think about them?

Poor Lindelof, how he must have been felt when he saw all those United fans cherishing him failing vs England in World Cup 2018, didn't any England United fan think about him?

...

Or maybe, they realize that non-English people do not own them anything when they are not playing for United. I am sure that salty people in this thread who cannot accept United fans not supporting England (and our United players), wouldn't have given a shit about Pogba or Lindelof or Bruno and Dalot or De Gea if England faced France, Sweden, Portugal, or Spain in these Euros. And would have cherished England winning against those teams, in turn, our players being hurt in the process.

Hahaha
Really? You would like your own fans to wish that you lose with your national side?

I remember more celebrations about France winning the World Cup because Pogba was in it. First United player winning the WC, blah blah blah, as if the club actually won it and not the French national team.

I’m confused, I’m not even a United supporter and I can tell you that’s not true, Sir Bobby? Nobby Stiles?

Good day at work. Italian colleagues giving it to the England fans who as usual can’t take any banter back.

Our fans saying the English are arrogant, when one of our most famous banners is "not arrogant, just better". The reality is glaring at you, ladies and gents.

What some of you think of the England fans is what the majority of football fans see you as a Manchester United fan.
It's justified in United's case (20 times)

As I said before, United fans have often had an odd relationship with the national team and it's weird seeing how so many people are angry because England lost and not appreciating a bit of banter. This is the club that sang "Ronaldo makes England look shite" chants "Argentina" at every Argentinean player we buy and whose players were booed and harassed constantly in the nineties.

People call us arrogant yet Italy had to cheat to beat us, what do you think that says?

Everyone knows who the true winners of Euro 2020 are and it scares you knowing how good this England team will be at the world cup.

Smug face

Yeah, I've embarrassed myself with this take. I guess it's true - you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Haha, well played

I particularly enjoy the "it's the hooligans" diatribes. We have nations such as Serbia and Poland, with worse hooligans, but their national teams are too pathetic for anyone to gain the slightest satisfaction from mocking them. This thread is undeniable evidence that the English national team is taking its place along the world's elite.

If you can name the other player who has won the World Cup while at United you can have a free ticket for a ride on the bus when England parade their next trophy.

I thought I was going to be really clever with Kleberson, but I googled and I was wrong.

I hadn’t heard of Connelly! Good player?

Has it come home yet?

Don't know if he was any good (though if you win leagues with United and in an England squad, I guess he was).

I think I read he played in the first 66 game and teams performance led Alf Ramsey to change and move to the now famous "wingless wonders".

The rest as they say is history.

One very real issue with the whole "support the lads" angle (which rarely holds for whoever England is facing) is how bloody hard it has always been to also have to support the likes of Terry, Cashley, Gerrard, Lampard or Joe Hart in the process. E.g. I fecking loved that Pirlo panenka.

In that sense, this is by far the easiest England side to get onside with. It was only whenever I saw Henderson's mug that I felt a strong desire for things to go tits up.

Not sure if it's:

a) We haven't been competitive for ages so no longer fussed about others as much as just us getting things right to begin with

b) The poster boy being a Spurs player so couldn't give a shit

c) Very few Liverpool/City players overall, or in Sterling's case dumping Liverpool making him OKish

d) All of the above

In what way?

Does this same sentence apply to you against Denmark or Germany when you played them?

It's not cheating when England do it. Don't you know by now? It's merely self depreciation

Check your facts. Polish were a great host and I don't see the Serbs running riot for no reason.

You haven't been elite for a long time and still pigged your self during tourmaments.

Do you get baited this easily in real life as well?

So, 1-1 + pens is laughable stuff?

I mean, only Rashford's dance was laughable.

It just means one thing mate: Italy 2021 isn't necessarily better than England 2021, just as Italy 1994 was probably a better side than Brazil 1994 or Portugal 2004 a more vibrant team than the dull rock that was Greece 2004.

Italy had 2,13 xG, England 0.57. 65% to 35%, 89% passing accuracy to 75%, 19 to 6 shots, 11 to 4 on target. This shouldn't have even gone to extra time, IMO.

But England has generally better players if you ask me. You just played very defensively minded

Italy were the better side and actually won all their games at the Euros, extra time and penalties included.

I disagree; a penalty shootout doesn't mean "winning a game", not then, not now. Italy has won this Euro with two consecutive 1-1 draws (and then the pens). I actually rate Portugal 2016 higher.

He was a good winger but left after the World Cup to Blackburn . I'm old enough to have seen him play with Charlton and Stiles for United.

Bet it was a joy to watch that group! I've seen a couple games where the latter two played, but long after the games were played :D

I'd heard about the wingless wonders formation I didn't realise it was implemented after the first game. Must have been a massive honour to win the cup but must have been a little gutting to be a winger in a team renowned as the wingless wonders.
