Let’s sign Gareth Bale

De Gea
Double D - Bailly - Alderweireld - Sandro
Matic
Fred - Pogba
Bale - Lukaku - Alexis

€100m seems reasonable, tbh. Crazy money of course, but in this crazy market, it will actually surprise me if we manage to get him for that.

Also, €12m net, isn't that about the same salary as Pogba? He'll surely ask for a raise, but it doesn't seem as crazy as some make it out to be.

€100m is absurd. If he costs us €25m per year in wages on a 4 year contract that amounts to €200m. With his age and injury record we mightn't get one good year in total out of him - that's what we got from Van Persie. I wouldn't pay €200m for the best year Messi ever had.

Utterly laughable stuff. Get with the times, the money side of things have moved on. We're not going to be left behind, even though some of our fans seem to want us to, no idea why.

Don't get the obsession with wanting to look after our finances from our fans. It's so weird, and frankly boring.

I think the difference is our big money buys don't work out the same as for other clubs especially since Fergie left. A huge fee for an injury prone player just looks like all our other big money mistakes

We've seen what he can do when he's fit. The man's a monster.

If there is a chance he may be available, get him. He can win games on his own.
This is a very good point. The key is, when fit. I feel with Jose's medical teams ability to keep Phil Jones fit for a decent duration along with the hiring of the new medical dude from Sevilla (?), if we sign him, it might just elevate is exponentially. But that's the end of martial and rashford at united, in my opinion.

Let's wait for class of 2092 instead.

Why would it be the end of Rashford? It wouldn't be.
I'm guessing this question was for me. I feel Jose doesn't see Rashford as a lukaku replacement, otherwise we wouldn't be looking at Mandzukic/Arnautovic as backups. We already have a plethora of attackers on the wings, so either Rashford would be on the bench most of the time, which might impact his England career potentially, or he might go out on loan, which I dont feel is a good idea really. Just my opinion.

Mourinho loves Rashford. He'll get his gametime regardless. Honestly with the amount of minutes he played last season he didn't develop his weaknesses enough. Relying on him to start would be a poor idea. I think Martial/Rashford will function as backup wingers/strikers and the only way we sign someone like Mandzukic is if Martial is indeed off.

Mourinho just want to use Rashford to prove that he does develop young player. He will give him game time whenever he can. The only problem is Rashford is a striker, not a winger.

I was against this signing initially but I'm becoming more convinced than ever that we need a transformative player on the right wing and there aren't many better than Bale.

I think he'll stay at Real mind but if he's leaving we should be trying for him (or Griezmann).

Would you prefer to sign Bale over Griezmann or Dybala?

The problem with that is that Rashford isn't really suitable to play as the sole striker which we (and the majority of clubs these days) play. I think he'd definitely thrive in a two man strike-force, but when up front by his own he's pretty much invisible. Other than the threat of running in behind to get on the end of a through-ball or long-ball, he really doesn't provide any kind of presence.

He's big enough that if he really works on it he might be able to develop the ability to hold the ball up and act as a proper front-man up top, but for now his best bet is somewhere in the next line of attackers behind the front man.

I mean do you watch Rashford? He's wasteful in front of goal. He plays best as a winger where he can burn defenders. Not sure what games you're watching if you really think we could rely on him in front of goal

Rashford is not a proper striker either. Would class him more as a support striker who can play off someone. He is very much lacking for a single striker system which mourinho deploys. If we move to a 2 striker formation with a midfield diamond rashford martial etc may get proper game time.

Would you prefer to sign Bale over Griezmann or Dybala?

I'd prefer Griezmann all day, more longevity, less injury issues, and to me it would feel like Bale is only joining us becasue Real are done with him, and not because he particularity wants to, after all he's had his chances before.

I understood why Griezmann stayed put last season, and I was a firm believer than it was just a delay to the inevitable.

You do know there are like a year apart in age, plus Bale is a whole 2 yards faster.

More than 18 months between them, My other two points are more valid though.

Take the CL final away, and I'm not sure as many would have wanted Bale just now.

I prefer bale and the CL final only cements it for me. He has the ability to provide pace and width which will give us the extra going forward that we are crying out for. I’m not convinced that by adding griezemann that it will affect our style too much. I feel he will cut in too much and add to the sea of players playing in a narrow space. He is a top class player though

Rather highjack the Mbappe deal. hes available at 160 million.

Don't think he's leaving now that Zidane is no longer there. Even with Zidane there, i was under the impression that he was making threats to leverage his way back into the starting line up. He's a guy who always came out to quash any rumors about him moving to another club and kept repeating how he much loves Real.

I can see him leaving only if Real shoves him out the door, which doesn't look like happening considering Perez loves the guy.

I don't reckon bale wants to come here. I think if Bayern Munich come in for him he'll go there. I might be wrong.

I am warming to the idea of this signing but I still have reservations re: the price/wages, and our budget. If ee add Bale to the mix that takes us to around £170m, we still need the left-back too and if it were Alex Sandro thats another £50-60m. Will the Glazers sanction this kind of spending, even with sales? I would pass on Bale if it meant we couldn't fill the left-back position too.

I'm the type of fan that doesn't get bothered buy how much we spend (for quality players) so I'm not arsed if we spend over 100M on him, I want to see the very top players playing for us when I tune in, its the excitement of the transfer going through and having to pinch yourself that they actually play for us. The last signing like that for me was Pogba. It would be super exciting signing Bale or Griezmann but Bale edges it for me as I think he would solve our RW issue better. The good thing is if he is to leave and we want to get him then I can't really see him going anywhere else than us, obviously I could very easily be wrong with that though.

Bale would be great. But now that Zidane is gone, I think we will stay.

IMO Ronaldo is more likely to go.

If Zidane stayed then I think we had a good chance but yeah now he's gone Bale will probably want to stick around.

Dont think this will ever happen. He has probably turned us down at least twice.

Mourinho would love to get him no doubt, but seems like gareth wants to hold onto his career in Spain for longer. Dont blame him as the league is much easier there and he would be under alot less scrutiny as opposed to if he signed for Manchester United.

He replied to Pogba’s instagram post earlier, probably nothing in it but he said.

“Let me know if you need a trim, red or blue this time?”

Not sure about that!

It’s absolutely nothing.

Pogba firstly commented on his Instagram post yesterday, ‘I come see you for a shave’. Both players have a sponsorship with ‘Wish’.
