Let’s sign Gareth Bale

Keep perpetuating that myth dude, that’s how shite rumours survive
Shite when it is from the horses mouth? ok mate
'Man United were interested in me but I wanted to play first-team football,'.

'I thought I had a better chance of getting that at Tottenham.

'The manager at the time, Martin Jol, told me he wanted me to go straight into the first team.'

Heh he’s a thoroughbred

Theres also quotes from fergie saying they couldn’t even get to speak to him because Southampton refused (for some reason) to deal with united
So we have two quotes saying different things. Both myths is you ask me. ;)

Also @golden_blunder there is a chance that Southampton refused to talk to us because Bale chose Spurs, thus there was no point in negotiating with us.

He is using our interest to leverage more game time at Real.
It's clear as day he'd rather stay there.
If he wanted to come, he'd be actively pushing for it.

Would that really work, though?

Fair enough if they wanted to keep him, and United were offering more money then doing that would make sense.

I don’t see how another club wanting him would persuade them to play him more though.

All he needs is probably for the coach to tell him he sees him as a key member.

I doubt he'll be playing more now that Lopetegui's coming in. Isco, Asensio and Vazquez will probably get more minutes than with Zidane.
Why would United want player who can't get enough games ahead of Isco, Asensio, and fecking Vazquez.

Why not? Eric cantona was offered 2 trials at Sheffield Wednesday
Sometimes a manager has his mind made up already or isn’t sure, it doesn’t mean he’s a shit reject

Interesting. What is your take on Martial? Don't want because he can't get game time ahead of Lingard, Sanchez and Rashford?

Not for 100+m transfer fee, 700+k per week salary, and a crook also.

Bale is 29 y/o, and not just some rookie.

You realize when Bale plays he delivers right? Simply in a situation similar to Martial but Bale actually doesn't lose the ball whenever going at a defender
He doesn't always deliver. Otherwise he wouldn't cast aside for the like of Asensio and Vazquez.

With Martial, if he's a 29 y/o on high wages, and has history of injury prone, i'd say just get rid of him. But he's not.

Its difficult to lose the ball when you're in the treatment room

This Martial vs Bale thing is stupid. If Martial wants to leave then its tragic but so be it. However that doesn't mean we bring in some injury prone 29 year old on ridiculous salary to replace him. Ibra, Sanchez, Bale, We're slowly but surely becoming some sort of player's cemetery were players come here to die (on a huge salary). We've got some great scouts at the club let them earn their salary.

Did you say the same for RVP?

Did you say the same for RVP?

RVP was a parting gift for SAF to end his career on high. That was justified considering what the old man did for us

Circumstances changed now. We need to build for the future not get washed up players based on what they did in the past

I'd rather sign the "new Bale", a young talented winger who can play more than 20 games a season

Of course you would. Everyone on here would rather sign the 20 year old version of everyone we're rumoured to be interested in.

We have a manager who prefers working with ready made players. No point stocking talents

But that's why we hire scouts. If we go for the likes Bale, Sanchez, Ronaldo and Messi then we might as well fire them up and rehire SAF brother instead

His signings suggest otherwise (Dalot, Bailly, Lindelof, Lukaku etc). He also gave plenty of games to Rashford and Lingard + he promoted Mctominay

Of all the posters who have been on here as long as me, you have changed the least. Still spikey as heck, just as you were 15 years ago.

I take that as a compliment. Do you care keeping with subject?

We signed Dalot and people lost their shit because we should be signing experience. We need a mixture of both.

I agree. However we already have enough experience in midfield (Matic, Sanchez, Failini, Herrera, Lingard)

This died the second Zidane left, his beef was entirely with Zidane.

We need to address our short comings from last season. That means addressing with experience (not old players just current ones) to the following positions: LB, RB, CM at the very least. Dalot is not that player we still need a RB and we should get him the following summer.

Fast forward a year, and he'll be complaining about his lack of game time again, I've no doubt about it.
Indeed. But he won't leave because the new manager of Real will give him assurances. Rinse repeat.
