Let’s sign Gareth Bale

Dont think this will ever happen. He has probably turned us down at least twice.
He's never really turned us down, as no clubs he's been at has accepted an offer from us. He's never been in the situation where he's had a contract from us in front of him and he's said 'no' or signed the other one instead. Southampton declined our offer then accepted Spurs later offer; Spurs only accepted Real's offer, and Real has never accepted an offer from us.

Sure, there have been times where we perhaps would have liked him to put his foot down and refused the offer from the other club and tried to force his current club to accept ours, but that's quite a bit different than actively turning us down. Are we his first choice? No, that is obviously Real. But it's not like he's been going around refusing our offers in front of him and saying he'll never play for us.

They're going to take a while to sort the manager situation out, then the manager is surely not going to bundle in and turf him out immediately.

There seems to be very little leaks about Bale and links to us...compared to AG. This is what makes me think we’re more into Bale, than AG.

Sorry to bump this thread, but a genuine question regarding Bale.

Does anyone think our chances of signing him have significantly increased with the appointment of Lopetegui as Madrid manager?

It could be that a Spanish manager would be more likely to follow Zidane's lead when it comes to selection and prefer Isco and Asensio ahead of Bale, due to them being Spanish and more so, as he is familiar with them from managing them with the National team.

Bale may also be thinking the same and decided the time is right as he may see just as much bench time with the new manager.

Whereas, for example, if Madrid hired Pochettino, then I would have bet Bale would be staying to try his luck under him.

I believe with Zidane in charge we would have a very high chance of signing him, however I'm starting to think we might be back in with a chance, albeit still not very high.

I’m not 100% sure but I think Spain played a 4-3-3 under Lopetegui so for Real that would mean one from Bale, Asenio and Isco on the right as Ronaldo is not getting dropped and it could even be that Ronaldo goes central if Neymar came in on the left.

Apparently the new Madrid manager is not a fan of Bale.
So these Bale to united rumours could go on till the last day of this transfer window.

No 11 seems to be available at United soon enough...

Maybe Martial wanting to leave, maybe he knows someone is on his way here.....

I’m beginning to think it’s going to be Ronaldo’s homecoming.. but hopefully bale

I'd choose Bale over Ronaldo anyway, but personally not keen on either.

Bale has had his chance, and Real wouldn't stop laughing if we are left picking up the tab for a declining Ronaldo.

I love Bale, I say bring him here if it's even remotely possible.

Bale had his chance? He didn’t want to come to us over Real, and at that time, hell even now, how could anyone really blame him.

I’d happily take him at this point, we are desperate.

No we're not, we're just mismanaged, we keep spending mountains of money for very little improvement, until the root cause is fixed nothing will change.

Bale can do one, we're not here to pick up the pieces once his Madrid dream is over.

he chose spurs over us too

Signing Bale at this point would be almost as dumb as signing Sanchez. Very short sighted signings.

No he didn’t. Southampton rejected our bid
If he wanted to come to us he would have made it clear to Southampton to negotiate at that time. He went to Spurs. Anyway it doesn't matter, that's all in the past. I don't think he'll sign now Madrid have a new manager. I would have said yes if Zidane didn't retire, but hey ho

I'd have totally believed he wasn't keen on coming here before those interviews after the CL final. Changed everything for me.
He is using our interest to leverage more game time at Real.
It's clear as day he'd rather stay there.
If he wanted to come, he'd be actively pushing for it.

To be fair, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Of course his first choice is more game time at Real, I don't think he's getting it though in reality. BUT I totally expect them to give him the reassurance he's after and for him to stay, but in the end, he'll still end up on the bench most weeks.

Keep perpetuating that myth dude, that’s how shite rumours survive
