Should do better for their first but also, that shouldn't be a catastrophic error at home to a mid table team. Every team makes mistakes, but ours are so costly because we're so diabolical as an attacking team.

Needs a couple of years on loan in the championship, but then again, maybe he can play for us there soon.

It took Saliba 3/4 years to develop into a top CB, have to be patient with this guy.

Not seen anything about him (yet) that suggests he was warranting a Varane style big bid for someone so young. He looks very green.

He reminds me of the worst of Eric Bailly. Not a single piece of convincing defensive action. I would say send him on loan, but we play with three CBs.

Very green indeed.

He'll learn but he is still not ready to start in the league, not sure why De Ligt was rested.

He's had some really positive moments like the tackle at Anfield and taking a penalty at the Emirates that speak well of his character which bodes well for the future but he hasn't yet produced a single convincing full performance. We might just have to let him go through the growing pains in the league games, given the league is basically a write-off at this stage, but given the price tag and the hype he's further away from being ready than I expected.

We're playing the very long game with this one. Very, very long. This season is just about him picking up experience of the league. Probably a similar story for next season, too.

If we can get £15-20m from anyone before tomorrow’s deadline we should bite their hand off. I’m sick to death of giving talent young players the opportunities to improve.

Very fair analysis and I was thinking the same.

Not ready for the PL. But now this season is gone in the league so he might as well play and learn from his mistakes.

It's unfortunate but Yoro isn't ready to start in Premier League games. He's being outjumped and outpaced by most of the players he's been up against and his positioning isn't great. We will have to develop him and hope he improves when he's up to speed with the intensity of this league.

You'd think that now Licha is injured he'd slot in but I'd be benching him for Mazraoui at RCB.

6'4 centre back who can't contest a header to save his life. We know how to pick them.
He's 19, bound to be a bit raw at this stage. It was a bad performance but in a few years he could be very good for us.

Another extremely ill thought out signing. The gaping holes in our squad, centre back was the least of our priorities. Let alone one so inexperienced.
Got rid of Woodward and basically all but two of the signings have been an unmitigated failure. And the two that started well are turning to shite again: couldn’t make this shit up.

Seems a bit gormless. Needs a year in the championship to sharpen and toughen up.

These comments are the reason he shouldn’t have come here for a huge fee. Hes 19 with limited experience and is expected now to come to a club like United and pull up trees.

was never going to happen. He will require patience. He’ll need time to develop.

I am in no way writing him off because he's 19 and we're a mess but I am a bit underwhelmed so far.
I was hoping we'd have the new Ferdinand, just hoping it's Rio and not Anton.

Or he could just be average. The problem is we paid a fee that should get us an already top class centre back. Seems suspiciously lime we just got carried away with the kudos of beating Madrid to a player

He made some mistakes, hes 19 and in and out of the team. Not a good day but one he will learn a lot from

Young talent, decent so far. Maguire and Onana are clearly shambolic. If you put VVD with them they'll somehow make him look bad. Stop overreacting to 1 game, support your club and your young world class talent.

Given where we were the summer and what we needed, spending that much on him, the performances don't matter they are to be expected from a young defender, was careless to say the least. The £50m on him and the £36m on Zirkzee plus their wages give you a top striker, no doubt.

Injury could have killed his speed for good. Would be typical for us.

I do like him. We had no business paying so much money for him given the state of our finances though.

Yes exactly. If you have your squad in order it makes sense to take your chances and pay up big for talents, but with the shape of ours and our financial situation, this is like a poor man choosing a lottery ticket instead of food for his family.

Lacroix at Palace seems the better player. Only cost 20m pounds or so and is 24. Jesus Christ why do we always pay eye watering sums for players who are always worse options than players costing half as much

If it's the same Lacroix that played in the Bundesliga, he gets sent off like three times per year for absolute brainfarts

Hence the 20m price tag I assume! But my point is we're getting fleeced at every turn so we might as well bring in players like Lacroix instead of gambling the house on unproven kids.

jesus christ man people on here are ridiculous. dude has been fine in the back for the most part, and is 19 playing in one of the worst United teams ever. Lets give it a bit before dumping him for 10 million and claiming he is the worst player in the world or something damn

some of you shouldn’t be allowed to watch football, unless scientists are studying your useless brains.
