La Liga/Serie A/Bundesliga Draft

Would be a miracle if Montero wasn't picked.

Anyway, was considering Mijatovic. Also Santi Cazorla had a good time at Villareal. He's once Spanish Player of the Year.

And this man...must be because everyone knows he's sh*te!!!

Still surprised Bergkamp and trezeguet were not picked at all.
Bergkamp struggled heavily in the league. He had pretty much all his good performances for Inter in the UEFA Cup. Don't think he deserved to be picked.

Tevez and Trez were biggest miss for me. Really thought about going for them at various points. Hagi could have been a cheeky scan vote winner as well.

Mancini an obvious miss as well
Bergkamp at Inter? He didn't enjoy himself there iirc, but still, yes, always difficult to pass up on him
His biggest success was not in the league but in UEFA cup which is irrelevant in this draft

edit: what Balu said
Because of his poor performance on the pitch, one Italian publication renamed their award given to the worst performance of the week, L'asino della settimana (Donkey of the Week) to Bergkamp della settimana

First game is up and running. Can somebody in the know set up the poll???? No idea who to speak to on this.

BUUUUUUUUUUUT THE BIG SURPRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE ISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Diego Costa. In his last season at Atletico he was arguably one of the top 3 players in the world unless I'm missing someone. Was a real force of nature.

Struggled a bit with some positions due to the league limitation.

Favourites: Giannini and Deisler.

And Scifo, who never really made good on his promises, but I like him nonetheless.

Also, included the recently departed Trifon Ivanov - a legend of sorts, one could certainly say.

To be fair I'm not sure if UEFA and World Cup form counts here along with the league - he excelled there and would made it worth the pick. He was at inter during that time but probably we'd have a debate for the reasons Balu mentioned

Same reason for Overmars I guess. Given the low wide options he'd be worth a punt.

Just to add on to The Stain's fine list - Jugovic, Brolin, Ruben Sosa (really deserved to be picked), Frings, Rafa Marquez and Toni perhaps (bit of a late bloomer but had a notable peak in two leagues from the mid to late noughties)

Hehe deleted Frings, thought he was picked. I mentioned Salihamidzic and a few more to Aldo and Aldo mentioned a bunch not on the list as well. Really liked watching Sali play.

Rafa Marquez deserved to be here

I was wondering about uniting Pires with Riquelme. But couldn't be sure how did he fair in Spain. I know he wasn't horrible, anybody would like to elaborate on his time in Villarreal?

Great list from the Stain. I was hoping Recoba might have been picked - he was awesome on his day and a player I loved watching years ago.

From what i remember he wasn't much of a success. Overmars was underwhelming as well. Plenty of great players on the list that didn't perform all that well tbh.

Had him in our thoughts but we needed someone with a few more goals on the left. Claudio Lopez was closer than Recoba.

Some names on there that were picked. Obviously few managers opting for wingers otherwise there was no excuse not to pick Lentini or Kily Gonzalez or Beckham.
