La Liga 2013-2014

Bet he wishes he'd joined us now! He alone would lift us to Everton standar

Why is that? It can't be just because he hasn't lived up to the hype, is it? Seems a harsh way to treat one of their own.

Probably partly that. Then there's things like the fact they had to pay so much money for a player that walked out on them, that he has criticised them a few times before and that they're annoyed that he starts no matter what form he's in.

The sell him to United for €30m vote is currently 80%:20% if favour of selling.

Pretty damning results there :D

Was Cesc ever tempted to leave ?

Maybe. Maybe not. But the point is, his relationship with Barca's fans seems badly fractured, perhaps unfairly so, but still.

We were after him, he's still a great player, wouldn't be shocked to see our interest rekindled. £30m would probably do it this time.

Should be if he made the right decision to move to Barca. His style of play would have suited Madrid more.

I have always thought that too. But at the same time I think that is our problem. For years we have been signing direct players like sneijder, ozil, kaka etc but these players don't let you control matches which seems to be what the very best can do ie Bayern and barca. Im glad at the moment we have modric and Alonso who are different and are players that keep possession and hopefully illarimendi and isco will be able to in the future also. Our possession this year has been better and while we still use counterattack as a eapon, we keep the ball bnetter than under mourinho and that has helped our defence and a big reason why we are keeping so many clean sheets since 2014 and the end of 2013.

The commentator said "Marca have reported that there are only 30,000 in attendance".

The ground certainly didn't look more than two-thirds empty.

They were probably referring to the people present in the stadium some time before kick-off.

In any case, no biggie. But Barcelona never have such low attendances, even if they are doing badly. Unless it's a CDR dead rubber or a CL GS dead rubber.

57K would still mean more than 40,000 empty seats wouldn't it? I always just assumed Barca sold out every game (especially during a very close title race).

No they do not sell out every game. Even at the best of times, our average attendance was around 86000. This season it has dropped significantly, largely due to the economic malaise in Spain. I think it's around 65000 for this season.

The games that are sold out, are those against Real Madrid, and in crucial CL KO games. But this season, we failed to sell out the game against Atletico largely due to the tickets being extremely expensive. The cheapest tickets were around 90 euros, and the most expensive around 250 euros.

Atletico Played 34 Points 85
Barca Played 34 Points 81
Real Madrid Played 33 Points 79
Basically if Atletico win their next three games they will get the winner's guard of honour against Barcelona at the Camp Nou before the last game of the season.

On the face of it Real Madrid have the easiest night. Benzema will be rested (Morata in), Ronaldo and Bale may timeshare again. Pepe's probably rested for Varane.

Valencia - Atletico ought to be tough for Atletico (but probably won't be), falling between the CL semifinal ties. Simeone says he'll play his best team. "They are all finals now." Valencia on the other hand, lost 2-0 to Sevilla in the Europa SF on Thursday, but it's still their best chance of European football next season, so they'll probably be resting almost everyone.

Athletic - Sevilla is all about the last CL place. A win for Sevilla will put them level on points, but Sevilla in fourth due to head to heads.

Villareal will put up a fight against Barca. Barca may not be able to respond.

If Valencia rotate their best players, then I would expect an easy Atletico win, which virtually guarantees them the title. Still, why not prey for a miracle both in the Mestalla and the Bernabeu???

Madrid have changed half the team for today.
Diego López; Nacho, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Modric, Illarramendi, Isco; Di María, Morata y Cristiano

I've just seen Ronaldo's goal in the other thread, very nice.

Benzema, Coentao, Pepe, Alonso and Carvajal all to start against Bayern. Christiano, Di Maria, Ramos, Modric will also surely be there. The question is will Bale and Isco make it?

I'm wondering if he's resting Coentrao for Marcelo now, seeing as he had a fantastic game against Bayern.

Always difficult to choose between those 2, especially since Marcelo is coming back from injury...

Bale isn't playing. He might start ahead of Di Maria on tuesday

You think? That will be another tough choice for Ancellotti.

Is Nacho any good?

I'm really really worried that we need to score 5 goals on Tuesday :nervous:

I think he's more useful than good. Homegrown and can cover any position in the back 4.

Another cracker from Ron!

Revising that - because it's unfair. He's good. He's just not quite good enough to claim a place.
