Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid watch

What's he crying about? He should have already knew how PSG treat players who don't sign extension through what they did to Verratti and Rabiot. He had the chance to leave and still signed a 2 year mega money contract.

Cannot believe some Real Madrid fans are complaining about Mbappé's arrival... spoilt fans

If I was a Real Madrid fan I wouldn't want him either.

They already have a solid core of players and are stacked on Mbappe's preferred position.

We already saw how their galactico policy went down results-wise in the 2000s. They're basically trying to repeat it now.

They would have been better off spending that money increasing the depth of the team and developing future stars.

He also made Real Madrid look ridiculous by having them wait 2 years. I don't understand why a club of Real Madrid's stature let him do this. They should have basically just said that Real Madrid only calls once and move on.

Whether results are going to be the same as in 2004-2006, well we don't know because football is not a exact science and any outcome is possible. But if you analyze beyond that, I do not really see much resemblance.

During those years most of the best players were relatively old or had started to decline (Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, Raul, Roberto Carlos). Now they are young and hungry (Vinicius, Mbappe, Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Militao).

Back then, many of the bench players were academy players without much level (Pavon, Mejia, Raul Bravo, Portillo). Now those roles are filled by more proven or talented profiles like Brahim, Rodrygo, Guler, Endrick, Modric, Tchouameni, Lucas Vazquez and Nacho.

The not so professional environment of the past -we only have to remember Camacho admitting he could not control the dressing room- is not there anymore.

Also, a potential emergence from Barcelona, as we saw in the Ronaldinho days, that changes the status quo domestically, seems out of the agenda for now.

I do think Romano has his uses but largely thanks to him what should have been a groundbreaking transfer has little to no hype.

How is it thanks to him?

Do you think you would have no idea about the transfer if Romano was not around?

It was the worst kept secret and most boring transfer saga. Everyone and their dog knew he is joining Madrid and they did not need Romano to tell them that.

12.5 million a year is pretty dire stuff. Poor guy.

You make it sound low, it's not that low because that's very low. That's 12.5 mil in £ after tax plus he gets the signing bonus over 5 years plus 80% image rights. Maybe he'll still make over 100 mil overall including tax. He'll be loaded still but feels anti climatic getting paid less overall compared to your last job when you're at your peak.

Including the sign on bonus at Madrid?
In his last 2 years at PSG, he was making 72m/year + a 150m signing-on bonus over those 2 years. Even if his signing-on bonus at Madrid is the highest reported (i.e. 150m, spread over 5 years), it's way below. Still amazing salary, but his salary at PSG was just ridiculous and it was obviously just a weird situation due to a lot of non-sporting factors.

You’re forgetting all the other money he gets on top. Image rights, sponsorship deals, bonuses etc.. he is literally making ridiculous money to the point I don’t think it matters what he earns, he probably doesn’t even notice pay day. Drop in the ocean to this chap.

Next up.. the big trophies.

I wouldn't trade Perez for anyone else as sporting director, but smart as many of his transfers has been, he still is a galactico-man at heart.

For someone who apparently doesn't play favorites, he sure made Mbappe look bigger than any other player for the club.

If he doesn't hit the ground running I could see him collapsing their entire project.

They're very lucky barca is so shit right now.

Have a hard time to see this not working. He’s coming into a perfectly balanced team in his prime & still hungry.

Also a better fit as Haaland would have been imho.

Will be interisting to see how they compensate for losing Kroos though.

People are posting like Madrid can't handle big egos, they've always had players with massive egos and they've either succeeded or been shipped out.

Even in the Galactico days they had massive superstars but their problem was trying to fit too many in and having nobody to do the dirty work.

Real is neither a „project“ nor is their current squad one. PSG, City, Newcastle, Leipzig are projects.
Will there be trouble in paradies when Vini and Mbappe both drift to the same position or when Rodrygo and Endrick are asking for more minutes. Absolutely.
But it‘ll be far from a „collapse“.

It's still funny that Liverpool thought they were getting Bellingham and Mbappe at one point

Love the use of the word "probably".
I'd say some on this forum don't notice payday. To say "probably" for someone earning millions a week is pretty funny.

Is it me or is no one talking about how much Real Madrid have paid to Mbappe/his agent?

I read in middle of some article that it will be 150m signing fee, but it seems like no one cares about it. If it was Manchester United I am sure the titles like "most expensive transfer of the year/whatever", "highest paid player ever", etc., would be more important to bold than just "Mbappe signs for Real Madrid".

I know Madrid players seem excited about this in general but given the guy's tantrums on pitch and the ego he comes with, given Madrid seems a very happy and settled dressing room, I'm not really sure how much upside there is to this transfer. That being said, he's 5x the player Haaland is, so, well, lucky them.

He won't be allowed to have ego at Madrid. PSG allowed him to become bigger than the club.

? Everyone is talking about it. Here and also in the media. But he also earned 5x as much at PSG so it doesn’t really move the needle.

Well I’m not in that position so I don’t know. I imagine when you got stupid money it all just merges into the already millions you got.

Wow , looks amazing this must be what Ronaldo was talking about

We’re so far behind :(

Had no idea Mbappe spoke English as well as he does.
As a child, Mbappé went to a private Catholic school in Bondy, where he was considered academically gifted but unruly. At 15, he began taking Spanish lessons, and eventually became fluent in the language.
He needs to take up italian to prepare his move to Juventus in 2032.
