Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid watch

This has to be a tactic. There is no way that he doesn't know how to play striker and that he's too deep. Even my 12 year old knows where to be playing striker and wouldn't end up in these positions. Plus Bellingham didn't do that on his own. He didn't just think oh Mbappe is too deep let me make runs for him. It was obviously planned and just wasn't working.

It's tricky to judge now because the entire team is playing poorly, which was also to be expected after a league+CL winning season if you know these guys.

A World Cup and a World Cup final to his name; plus a finger tip away from a second at his age is nothing to sniff at.

Club footballs been a mess - you don’t go to PSG if you want to make a name and grow

Could say the exact same about a number of his France team mates. Nobody would claim that Griezmann is one of the best in the world on the same basis.

Yeah but he was the mvp in that team both times out - that game vs Argentina in 2018 was the mesmerizing. Golden boot, 12 World Cup goals, 4 in the final. Let’s give props where they are due

That would be reason to sack Ancelotti immediately. Mbappé may be the fastest player ever, having him not make use of that would be a sign of complete loss of mental faculties

And Carlo is known to give his forwards complete freedom

So I guess if that is the case, Real Madrid fans should be happy with a season where they dont win La Liga and CL.

They done it last season so they dont need to do it again this season and performances dont need to be top.

You sign the best player and look a worse team.. this was always going to happen with Mbappe.

He is not a team player, he only cares about himself.

I dont think people don't give him props, he is one of the best players on the ball. He comes alive and can change a match. However; the way France play is designed around Mbappe, everything they do is around Mbappe, the players that play are there to suit Mbappe.

2018 they played Matuidi LB to give legs to cover. They packed the rest of the team with runners and workhorses.

They also had Pogba who always looked for Mbappe.

Whereas Madrid already have players they look for, the whole team isnt designed to play around Mbappe.

Finally, when it comes to club football teams press alot more, Mbappe isnt used to that. He thinks the whole team will work towards him.

Ties in with his request to only play important games isn't it?

I wouldn't say happy. Just be realistic.

Mbappé is one good World Cup away from being remembered as one of the best forwards ever, how he does at Real Madrid won't matter that much. If he scores 5 goals+ in the next World Cup and France win, then he has 2 World Cups and an all-time top scorer, including scoring a hat-trick in a final. Those are the sort of achievements that will stand the test of time.

As it stands, he might not play with france anymore if deschamps still the manager as after he asked to be dismissed 2 windows ago because of injury and then played for madrid and on top of that, he was acused os SA while france was playing. And we know how deschamps act with benzema

If he starts avoiding playing "minor" games, has out of the pitch serious acusations and he is not top performing with RM, he might not be therre while deschamps in charge

Saying that, i think RM will get rid of Vinicius for a hefty sum and will center the project around benzema. I think florentino learnt from CR and Bale. Only 1 rooster in the hen pit and specially, position in the field

Benzema?

Was Thomas Muller seen that way in 2014? He had 10 goals and 6 assists in 13 WC games, and that despite not being the goalscoring focal point of his team(in his first WC, Mbappé had a closer role to Muller, to be fair). He got 30-40 goals plus assists in all of his seasons during that interval, which is not as impressive as Mbappé's 50-60(Muller's numbers were more impressive at that time, since only Messi and CR7 had these astronomical numbers), but the German was mainly a playmaker and, foremost, the epitome of the team player, which the French...is not(yeah, it's not a very "saleable" attribute, but give the man his due). Also, Muller won a UCL, being instrumental for his team.

International football gives him the time and space to run and plays to his strengths.

He hasn't developed his game in the slightest since leaving Monaco and it's biting him now. His touch is loose and he hasnt learned much movement. He can't simply rely on pace in La Liga the way he could in France.

I dont think he is the best on the ball.

His close control and actual technical ability may be above average but not extraordinary.

He has (or had) extraordinary athletic abilities coupled with a knack for goalscoring for fun.

Having watched him quite a lot in real life at PSG or France games, his footballing IQ is quite limited, he still doesn’t really how to time his runs and how to make threatening runs. When playing at 9, you seldom see him able to control the ball on the turn. When he’s not launched into space, his first touch will always be to stop the ball then, he’ll use his explosiveness to change direction.

Unless he drastically starts to improve, he’s not suited to play as a 9 at all

We are entering into some serious revisionism territory here
