I should maybe add I don't expect to see Mbappe in a City shirt next year, I don't even know when the picture was taken.

@Manchester Dan
Im not on a wind up but its kind of scary that your defensive signings could cost a little less than those 3 combined!
I agree. It's no secret that we've not spent well at the back. Mangala, Otamendi and Stones all cost between £30-50m each. I think Walker and Mendy are our best defensive signings in a long while, we've not had good full-backs for a long time, but we still need ANOTHER centre back for next season, which shows you how poor we've been at signing good players in that position. Problem is again, who is available this summer?

Bonucci was but I guess his wife had another thing in mind.

Looks like he's off to Madrid for a world record.

What a shame, would have loved him at United but I think it was clear he was always destined to go there.

Yep. Hope the reports are false though, so he could stay at Monaco one more season and we can attempt a hijack next summer. We can always hope. :wenger:

Real's mouthpiece start the unsettling process. Every summer these cnuts do the same old stuff. They'll then turn his head, hopes he kicks up a fuss in order to reduce the fee. It nearly worked with De Gea, had it not been for that fax machine. Monaco need to sell this summer though because he'll only have a year left on his contract next summer.

As soon as Madrid shifted some weight they were always going to make this move. Florentino a) wanted this kid and b) wanted to break the world transfer record.

A lot of pressure to put on a teenager. Good thing they have Ronaldo to keep the heat off of him. No matter how much you cost, if you play with Ronaldo he'll always absorb the headlines.

Marca reckons it's 160 million euros up front and 20 million in performance payments.

Insane.

Transfer fees have finally passed the credibility threshold for me. As long as it was under 100 million I could quantify and justify it in my own head. But now it makes no sense at all.

It would be hilarious if he fails. I hope not though.
Someone from BBC will be benched and it wont be Ronaldo. Zidane loves Benzema so.....

Treated like Renato? He's just average and was never good enough. Bayern made a mistake buying him.

The potential was always there - but we had actually seen too little of him tbh. He could be a devastating counter attacker with his burly physique and forceful runs.

He hasn't progressed well at all, but given a couple of seasons you never know.

180m for Mbappe? Pog and Lukaku was a combined 165 and thats much better value for money IMO

I don't know about not trusting Marca on this one. The details are too specific, they even include the salary and contract length. I think this is done.

We'll see. What's good for him is that Zidane seems sensible and invested in development, plus having just won 2 CLs, he should have some slack.

But, he's only done one season, really would like him to have more time to develop at Monaco. What a risk for Madrid!

I hope this kid goes on to fulfil His potential, because if he does get to his ceiling it'll make the retirals of Messi and Ronaldo less painful.

Hypothetically, If he follows next season up with an average first season at Madrid - how much would he be valued at next summer?

And just like that, Real prove they are the kings of the transfer market.

Wake up Woody ffs.

Every other summer without fail. They get rid of Rodriguez, Morata and Danilo, immediately go after Mbappe.

They got rid of Di Maria, Ozil etc. went and bought Rodriguez.

They got rid of the Dutch players like Sneijder and Robben went and got Cristiano Ronaldo.

The fees always look huge, which adds to the Madrid mystique, but the truth is they play the market smart. Most of their transfers are funded by selling off last season's fashions. They brought in over £100m in sales this summer. Really they're just spending £60m of new money on Mbappe. You have to hand it to them. They sell brilliantly. No £7m for Hernandez style sales.

Let's wait till a serious journalist confirms this. Marca is about as credible as The Sun.

Best numbers since ronaldo at same age, proved it in the champions league, proved in France. Think he is worth the risk.

How much did Chelsea originally sign David Luiz for, and how much did they sell him to psg for. There's your answer, sometimes it's not about performance but supply and demand.

Great signing for Real Madrid if the reports are true. Fee is about right when you consider his potential and what average players are costing nowadays. He will be joining a team who likes to attack, so he is he has a very good chance to fulfill his potential.

160 fecking million:lol: Jesus wept.

You've got to be fecking kidding me. The transfer market has gone bonkers
