Is that sell on clause really correct? It would mean selling him for 59 million would result in us receiving a better deal than selling him for 100 million. We'd need to sell him for 110 million to recoup the amount we've currently paid!
I dont know. Like you it seems we were that desperate to get him it really was at all costs

Stakes will always be higher at Manchester Utd than Spurs, it's just the nature of being a top 5 club in World football.

Top 5 clubs in world football don't finish in 6th place in their domestic league, nor spend three seasons out of the last four outside the top 4 in their domestic league.

United are top 5 in the world in terms of money, but no longer in terms of football.

Please ,your rationale is based on league position?
We just won two trophies, one of them a European Tiltle, what exactly have Spurs won?
Oh wait The Second Place Title.
How are we still not a top club in world football?

You are right that we are not in the top 5 at the moment. We are number 1 in the world in terms of money at least when it comes to the club's own money. With that comes the expectation of being a top club in terms of football along with our history. The PL is a difficult league and what happened to us was the result of the entire experience of the club being vested in one man (you could argue two) and we didnt have the structure or mentality to address this properly. As any fan though I can hope for the best and I think with the right signings we'll have a good season next year :D

Clearly they do, because #MUFC did. Just like transient shitters some times make second.

I think his point is that signing for United is easily in the top 5 most attractive propositions for any player. Even with the recent lack of success.

Of course we are not currently in the top 5 teams.

It has precisely nothing to do with Spurs.

The simple fact is - as I've already said - that a top 5 club in global terms does not finish in 6th place in their domestic league, after having finished outside their domestic top 4 for three of the last four seasons.

In footballing terms, it's doubtful that United are now even in the top 10 globally. That doesn't mean you can't climb back up, but it becomes harder the longer you cling onto delusions based on past grandeur.

How does he get into your team?

If Morata is sold there is a spot for him with at least 25-30 starts in his first season, more than he had at Monaco, with a chance if he is good enough to make the spot his own in the following years.

So will that leave Benzema with only 30 starts?

:lol: I'm hearing it all with Mbappe now. The guy that said Balotteli, fair judgement. Give the kid time to prove himself. Jesus.

I wonder who will get the ballon d'O first him or Martial.

The Martial Ball on dor was ridiculous. Several MUFC still believe that nonsense.
And now Mbappe.

To be rated as the best player in the World, everything has to go right for you. Training. Injuries. Form. Luck. Getting on with the manager. Tactics playing to your strength. Doing well for your National team.
And even then, you may not win the Ball on Dor. A lot of fans don't quite understand this.

Don't be ridiculous. Global appeal encompasses a wide array of qualities and current league position is but one of the many. If you follow basketball, you know the Knicks and Lakers stand favourably for free agents and draft picks despite being shit for years.

And yet it's happened, go figure. In terms of footballing success in the last 4 years then no. But if we consider aspects like finances, global appeal, history, manager, fan base, stadium etc then we stand a top the world, shoulder to shoulder with Barca, Madrid and Bayern. You were the one who decided the only metric that mattered was success in the last 4 years, no one else. We could go the next five years without winning the league and he will still be a top 5 club, the sooner you accept that the easier it'll be.

Can't see us matching that. Thats €50m higher than our supposed bid.
If this bid is true, this race is done.

Christ 135m for an 18 year old...

The world has gone insane
It's 135 million paid over the duration of his contract, considering your revenue it won't put you anywhere near financial risk. Media and supporters in general like to make a big deal about prices for some reason.

This is insanity, I don't believe these figures. I'm a huge fan of Mbappe, I'm probably more convinced than most that he will be a success, but over 100 million euros for 6 months of a career is unheard of. I can't see how the transfer market ever recovers with every other promising youngsters we'll see out there. If there's any truth to it, then I can't see Monaco turning this down. Maybe there's an agreement he stays one more year in Monaco but that won't change now that he would be under immense pressure with every of his game judged and debated before he even plays his first game for Madrid. In a WC year, this could be very dangerous for a young player, even one with such a good head on his shoulders. This feels a bit obscene.

I wouldn´t buy him(this summer). I love a good signing and if he is so good I don´t care about the price but I am a bit afraid of provoking changes in a winning team.
I wouldn´t mind if he could accept a secondary role during his first year which wouldn´t be the case after paying 135m€.
Maybe I need some Marca covers to get more excited

Real Madrid can take the risk buying him at that price.
we can't risk one of our big signings having a below par season.

What the hell will Wenger do now?

Don't get why Madrid need to take such a gamble. They could buy him off anyone a few years later anyway.

Agree. If true, That's just mad money. The pressure that would bring on him would be crushing.
Madrid sign players from the absolute top bracket that can handle this pressure. There is a reason their whole bench will walk into our team.

If he goes to United, we would probably have to pay over 250M to bring him to Madrid. For 135M, considering the prices bandied around these days, he would turn to a steal in few years, just like Ronaldo. Perez is itching to get his transfer record back to the point he would prefer to pay 135 then 95.
Never seen anyone as talented as him since Ronaldo R9 so I'm full onboard whatever the price.

Hopefully he moves on to other targets.

The only reason we've been bidding a low-er sum is because we are offering more money upfront, which means monaco can re-invest straight away in this transfer window alone.

Bet real's bid is probably 50 mill and then installments for 100 years or something daft.

I'd be pissed if he wasted 135 on a kid with one good season, we have numerous gaps in the team that need filling so chucking all the supposed 'warchest' on 1 kid isn't gonna make any difference.

If you don't think we're one of the top 5 biggest clubs in the world you need your head checked. Regardless of league positioning we're still just that big, a lot bigger than spurs regardless and always will be. Sad for you guys but I always see you saying dumb stuff like this, results aren't the only thing that makes a club big, but you wouldn't know that since you support barely a mediocre sized club. Head check please sir.
