Koke

Why would he want to move yet? He's young, playing every week for Atletico and made his way into the Spain squad. He is one of the top performing players in la liga right now and will only get better. Great chance of a crack at la liga this season, and it's atleti's best team in many years.

Also, Milan offered 4 million?!? wow

A shame for us, but understandable considering how well they're doing in La Liga and the Champions League. If the opportunity was there, he would be a better signing than Herrera. You only have to look at the stats to see the difference between them. He's younger, better, more versatile and cheaper if that £16m release clause is correct. Not enough people have realised these facts though.

If we're going to buy Koke, we should obviously also buy Kerim and Fabian Frei, and Markus Berger.

There is no chance of him leaving Spain. The only club that will tempt him is City. He has everything he wants in Spain.

I haven't seen much of him, but doesn't he play sort of as a inside wide midfielder (not a winger, and not like Robben or playmakers like Silva) rather than as a true midfielder?

I think he can play anywhere in midfield, like wide, defensive mid, center mid, or attacking mid, but this season he's been out wide mostly, like you say, not a winger but a wide midfielder. I think his best position is in the middle of the park though.

Think more of a Keane, Fletcher, Henderson or Gerrard on the right wing.

He is clearly not a winger, but his work ethic and stamina makes him effective along with being able to pass accurately.

He's playing more of a wide midfielder because he adds too much creativity to be sitting in a more defensive minded midfield 2. He played in the middle for the Spanish under 21s in the summer, and wasn't really involved in many attacks.

No idea how this rumour has got has far as it has. No chance.

Can only imagine it's Koke Moyes is scouting. They have left out most of their first team tonight, lucky for him Koke started and he's got the notepad out. Don't see us getting him in january, but you never know.

What about the Porto team? Could be one of them?

What do you make of Torres, Orton? You know your stuff when it comes to Atletico and La Liga. Would you prefer Koke over him? Heard that Oliver might be Barca bound.

Could be watching some of the Porto players either. With Mangala, Alex Sandro, Fernando and Defour all playing

We have been recently linked by the media with three players playing in that game (Koke, Mangala and Torres). Defour is an old target of United and he's probably mates with the big guy Moyes spent 27m on.

Koke would be a better fit for us anyway, as he's proven himself to be one of the best midfielders in la liga and can play anywhere across the midfield. Oliver is still raw, but a very exciting prospect (great assist tonight for Costa's goal) He's not really featured much this season, but Simeone does prefer hard workers in his team. I'd take Koke, because we need a player like him much more.

Is Koke getable then or is he is a lifer at Atletico?

He's as much of a lifer there as Torres and Martinez were.

Give him the right salary and motivations and a player will nearly always leave a smaller club to join a bigger one.

With Atletico's financial situation, they don't really have much of a chance of ever keeping their best players after a while. They are absurdly good this season though. Level on points with Barca and walked their champions league group.

I know we are bigger overall but at this moment in time I think it's fair to say he's got a better chance at winning a CL with the club he is already at. And surely that's the pinnacle of club football as far as most players are concerned. Depends on the player and his mentality.

If they are that good then we should get them both. Lets face it, its not as if we dont need midfielders.

Ah I remember when I said that United should have spent all Ronaldo's dosh on Martinez and Herrera (who literally humilated us). Back then I was criticized because they surely weren't better then Ando and Cleverley (who were pretty close of having their year) and that there was ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that Martinez would leave Bilbao to go to a cold and rainy place such as erm Manchester (Munich is so sunny in Winter). Ah also, there was no one capable of replacing a 35 yr old Scholes.

I often wonder if a midfield trio made up from a pool of players such as Pogba (which I believed that should have played regularly just to make sure not to lose him), Martinez, Carrick, Herrera and Cleverley would have been better then what we've got.

Athletico has as much chance of winning the CL as Spurs have to win the EPL.

So? Your point being? They've got a more of a chance than United have of winning it. We support United remember, not Spurs.

The general consensus on Twitter is that he was there to watch Koke tonight, for what it's worth.

His point is they have a minuite chance. So it wouldn't make a difference if he moved or not. Only he would be taking a gamble if he would be playing Champions league football next year. However with the right siginings in January we should be contenders again 'this year'.

Wait, they're not saying we're gonna bid less than a release clause again, are they?

Knowing Moyes, he probably got Atletico Madrid and Bilbao mixed up and wondered where Herrera was.
