Koke

I know Moyes was destined to fail from the start and many are praying he was the soul reason for our failures but to even contemplate the idea that a manager who was in the top flight for 11 years was to blame for messing up deals and not a brand new fella who had never entered negotiations regarding players is ludicrous. They both fecked it and we best pray the same shit doesn't happen again.

OT - I think the comparisons between Koke and Kroos are unfair, seeing as they both play nearly polar opposite positions in the middle of the park. However, having BOTH would work perfect. Kroos = Carrick and Koke = Cleverley. Would work very well replacing these two as the main men.

I'm not the one claiming that named quotes are the only ones that can be trusted.

I'm essentially saying that reading between the lines of more credible articles is a perfectly reasonable way of trying to figure out what's going on behind the scenes. Compared to saying 'Well Pere Guardiola is Pep's brother, so that must be the reason'. Far as i can tell thats pretty much total guesswork.

go on, stick with whatever fantasy narrative suits your muppet dreams/hatred of Moyes. Thiago would have been at United if they had only asked :)

Koke had the highest amount of touches, passes and crosses. I also like how strong he is physically that Ivanovic bounces off him like a tennis ball.

Dream muppet signing. 60m Euros is a bit much but pay it, who cares.

Looks like we'll have a few days of Koke to United followed by the inevitable Koke rejects United stories.

Yeah, I'm doing well to avoid getting swept up with these rumours. Of course, the window hasn't actually opened yet...

In fairness it should say 'De Gea wants Koke'. He's handling all of our Spanish deals.

Barcelona wants Koke for a price around 40m, but it seems that manchester is also interested.
The Athletico Madrid won't negociate for a sum inferior to 40m and ideally wants 60m.
Koke seems to be happy at Madrid and doesn't want to move particularly.

The best thing about him is that on top of his technical brilliance, he works like a dog too. He's one of those that seems nailed on to be a top player, for club and country, for a decade. I know it's unrealistic and daft to get excited about the prospect of it, but he really would be a dream signing.

Vidal and Koke are the only two midfielders I would be happy to see United pay something around £50 million or more for.

Don't think he's a priority for Barca when they're already stacked at CM and they need at least 1 CB a forward and possibly a RB. This is after buying 2 GK's as well.

What do your sources say?
Not much, very very quiet. I imagine hes been bollocked into shutting up now. I cant be bothered to listen to him anymore though. Everything has changed with LVG coming in and Glazer dying. As much as it was touted well have two deals before the WC I seriously doubt that.

Er, I think he was taking the piss mate.

Physically strong and technically excellent plus he's versatile from what I've seen, he'd be a great buy.

60m euros is just under £50m, a hell of a lot but I would not give a shit if we could get him.

Doesn't seem like there's a proper consensus on what his buy out clause is. The 48m thrown about doesn't match up with the reported 60m when he renewed. If it's the former I genuinely think he's worth that, in a position we are in desperate need.

Agree with this. A lot of money but I certainly wouldn't be complaining if we had to pay that to get him.

It's not really THAT much though, is it? We would be paying £50m for a lad who is 22, already better than all of our current midfielders and is destined to be a world class midfielder, if not already. We need to sort out this midfield issue once and for all and Koke would raise the level greatly.

Who cares what his buy-out is? We've already proved that it's too difficult for us to figure out how to buy a player for his release fee.

In fact we proved that twice just last summer!

€60m is roughly £48m. Articles probably just reference the wrong one and don't check currency.

Anyway the article says we're willing to pay €60m but he'll reject us even if we do pay his buy out and offer him €5m a year so yeah, can't really see this one happening.

If we do make a bid, it'll be the inevitable 27m, followed by a 32.2m bid when it's rejected. Then it'll just fade away into nothing as usual.

I was in Lisbon and there seemed to be thousands of Atletico fans with Koke on the back of their shirts, much more than any other player. He's their new local hero. Will be a hell of a coup for whoever signs him.

Wow, knew he was highly rated on the forum but didn't think it was to the level where fans would be happy for the club to pay £50m for him.

Must admit haven't seen terribly much of him, apart from most of the CL matches and around 10 La Liga games this season, but I don't think he has looked outstanding in that Atl Madrid team, although that may be just down to the whole team performing excellent.

The real question is how would he fair in the current United team after coming from such a hard working unit like Atletico.

He doesn't seem to do anything excellent, but does everything well. Is that completely off the mark?

And again a couple of days ago I think. Regardless though it'll be largely out of his hands if someone meets the buyout clause.

But no one can force him to sign a contract the team that meets the clause. Least of all Woody who would probably offer him £30 and a packet of half eaten polo mints each week.

Seems very steep. From what I've seen he's a good player but not exactly the new Zidane.

In fairness we haven't got a hope of getting him as I am sure he would choose Barca, Bayern or Chelsea if he was to leave ahead of us but yes he is the ultimate muppet transfer

Does Athletico get to keep the money even if he doesnt come to us? :smirk:
