They are skint but we'll have to pay more than £25m for this kid.
Shouldn't be that bigger problem if board and manager are serious in stepping up to the competition.

I really don't know how much was truth in Moyes' words that there's many quality players that want to join United but I'm getting bit nervous about summer, like it's kinda last hope for positive changes before even Fergie will say 'feck it' and throw Moyes out of a window.

Wouldn't mind splashing the reported Kroos fee (40m?) on this guy instead.
We should try both if we even think of serious title challenge because it looks like Carrick-Fletcher combo is even too weak for Europa League standard so far.

He seems very loyal towards Atletico and their good season might make it all the more difficult to lure him away, especially if he believes that Simeone and their team have solid foundations to continue their successful year with another good seasons, which isn't that unlikely. They'll lose Courtois and probably lose Diego Costa as well, Filipe Luis is another candidate who could attract other clubs, so they probably will do everything they can to keep hold of him. With Saul Niguez and Oliver Torres coming back from loan, they might replace him from within though. He renewed his contract twice this season, if the media is to be believed. The first time was in September, I think, then in January. Agüero renewed his contract before he joined City, too, so it might be a good sign.

How skint are Athletico exactly? If they win the CL and La Liga I can't see why any of their players would want too leave. Unless of course they love the money.
I guess the question is part how much money do you get for winning La Liga and the
Champions league. Probably not enough.

I don't think the double will make them rich. They will be lucky to keep their players but unfortunately they won't. Probably not even their manager.

With the Champions League run and guarenteed CL football next season I don't think Atletico will have to sell anyone this summer.

And if they do it will probably be Diego Costa.

Yeah, they could easily sell Koke in a couple of years if they want, he is so young! Btw, hope we get some Atletico fans here soon, we have fans of every other top team here, but not Atleti as far as I know.

Xavi called him his natural heir in the Spanish national team recently. What a compliment.

I remember around 2008-2009 there were two athletico midfielders who were hyped to be the next big thing.

One of them was Koke, the other one, hilariously, was called keko.

Anyone know what happened to Keko?

I don't watch Atletico very much but isn't he frequently played out on the left?

He has also played right-back for Spain, has played on the right for Atletico and as a central attacking midfielder. The most he has played on the left as you say and as a defensive midfielder. There was hardly any drop in quality wherever he was asked to play, his position is the centre though.

I think all the while Atletico are challenging for La Liga and doing well in the CL, there is no chance of him moving unfortunately.

Unless Atletico are desperate to cash in, they do have Oli Torres and Saul Niguez who could perhaps come in and take his place. None of those 2 are at Koke's level yet though IMO.

Koke is playing for his local club, who look to be in the Champions League for next season. No way will he leave in the summer. He'll be there til next summer, at the very least.

There's a half decent chance Athletico will the European and Spanish champions next season. Even if they don't quite pull it off, I still can't think of a reason why he'd want to leave his home for a project here in Manchester.

This guy would be great, but I also think we don't have a big chance to sign him. Simeone and Koke are looking like they will stay at Atletico for some time.

NOT A CHANCE, hell wait till Barca can sign players again and move there.

Because they won't be able to keep that team together, and Simeone will probably be managing someone like Barca in another year or so.

Koke has responded to the latest round of rumours linking him with a summer move by committing himself to Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been a leading light in a remarkable season for Atletico, with his efforts helping them to the top of the table and through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Unsurprisingly, his high level of consistency and playmaking abilities have been noted by clubs across Europe.

Manchester United are reported to have been monitoring his situation for some time, and a big-money approach has been mooted as David Moyes prepares to undertake an Old Trafford rebuilding project.

Koke, though, claims to be happy where he is.

He only agreed an extension to his contract in January, taking him through to 2018, and the Spain international sees no reason to leave his home-town club any time soon.

"I am very happy and I do not think about leaving the club right now," Koke told Marca.

"I am happy at home, I want to continue here and that is why I have a long contract.

"The rumours in the paper will have no impact on my game. I am young, but I am calm.

"Now is the best moment to enjoy being at Atletico. My future here will be long."

I expect if anything happens to Kroos this summer or the next when his contract runs down, Guardiola will go straight for Koke and get him. What a fantastic player he's become

Mega dough at both Atlethico and him and it can happen.

Could see City attempting this one in the summer.

He has been immense today. Great passing, crossing, setpieces and defensive work ethic. Hit the post too.

He's absolute class and his delivery is brilliant. Still only 22. I'd have him and Turan in a heartbeat.

Wonderful player.

However, I feel he will only beome better with the team not being constantly compact and counterattacking. He will thrive in a Pep system.

He has been immense the whole season. I have been on record mentioning that he is the best young player in the world!
