Have you seen him central midfield? Each time I have watched him he has played in the left attacking midfield role.

He's played in central midfield more often in the second half of the season. I've never seen him play wide at any level of international football either. I think he plays wide at times hen Atletico want more defensive cover, similarly to when Gerrard used to play on the right for Liverpool with Alonso and Mascherano central. He is still effectively a central midfielder though.

He's a good blend of a Spanish and British midfielder I think, would excel in the Premier League.

Would love to see the peoples thoughts now who thought he was going to join United

Keep calm and leave it to Agent Big Dave.

Watched the game late at night/early morning. Thought he was their best player. Crazy thing about him is not only does he create more chances and has more assists than the likes of Bale, Fabregas etc but defensively his stats are thrice as good. Monster of a player.

And he is very fit/never injured and has a very good stamina. Yesterday was already his 53rd game of the season. I would pay 50 mil to get him, best / most influental young player in the world for me.

We will sell you Cesc and get this guy...

LOL! I actually think that's exactly what is going to happen (Koke joining you, not Cesc joining us). I really believe if Koke decides to leave he would like to stay in Spain and wouldn't go to Real for obvious reasons, which only leaves Barcelona. And tbh if it's not us than I would rather see him at Barca than at Chelsea/City or Bayern!

feck Kroos get him. Just watched the whole game yesterday and what a performance that was. Get Simeone and let him tap Koke up :drool:

I am a huge fan of Cesc's but the truth is that maybe he will never cut it for us. People were probably right about him being more suited to the Premier League. Many Barcelona fans have lost all faith in him and the club will may be willing to sell to an English club for two main reasons: a) English clubs can afford him, b) the funds can be used to buy someone like Koke or Vidal.

There is no chance of him leaving Spain. The only club that will tempt him is City. He has everything he wants in Spain.

No idea how this rumour has got has far as it has. No chance.

Really don't understand the links with him. Just can't see him joining United in our current state.

That's why it makes no sense at all. There is no logical reason for him to join us in January.

Still love how people think he is going to come to United though.

Can anyone give me any reasonable explanation for him wanting to join United in January? Not including money.

Love how people still think he is going to leave Atletico, his boyhood club, still in the Champions League, still in the race for La Liga, during a world cup year, to go to a club who looks like missing out on Champions League football.

Are people only just coming around to this not happening? There is not one reason that he would even consider joining United and there never has been.

People need an article to say he won't join us in January?

It was hilarious listening to those on here who thought it was a possibility.

It still amazes me that people thought he would join United, let alone during that January window.

I think you've probably made your point.

Unfortunately for Atletico, money talks the loudest, which it means it will be very hard to hold onto their players in the summer.

If we pay his release clause and DDG agrees to sleep with him (again, probably) - then he's ours. I'm more and more convinced that he is the one we need. Koke and Carvalho would be a great pairing. If we had that two out there last night we'd have won the game.

I'm actually very positive about some potential targets. However, people thought a young player wanting to go to the World Cup with Spain would leave a title race in Spain, leave Champions League football to play for a United team in transition. I am not miserable about our future targets, I was just realistic about this specific rumour.

I can only assume that you're talking about me as I think I was the main perpetrator. Well I guess the honest answer is that I was ignorantly unaware as to how well Atletico were doing, had I realised that they were mounting a real title challenge and champions league fight then obviously I wouldn't have made the comments I did.

Never seen much of this lad to me fair but from what im reading, i cant help but think he is being overhyped due to an outstanding performance. I might be wrong.

Let's just try and throw 40-60 millions on him just like we experimented with Fabregas last summer.

Maybe it will happen, maybe not. Worth to try. Guy can play on multiple positions and I don't think Moyes has something to lose as he lost everything already.

He's been outstanding all season to be fair, and should break into the Spanish squad for the World Cup. He is a midfielder, so that puts that achievement into context itself.

It took me a while to realise just how good he was myself, largely because his style is not typically Spanish I don't think. I think when you hear of a top young Spanish central midfielder, you expect him to play like an Iniesta or Thiago etc. Koke is more of an Anglo-Spanish fusion I think, more Gerrard than Iniesta I'd say. Top player though, and would be the ideal choice for United I think.

Then you have to read again I am afraid, ppl are not impressed just because of yesterday, but because of his entire season. He was already very good in the U21 championsship last summer, of course Isco and Thiago got all the headlines as they moved clubs, whereas Koke stayed at Atletico.

If you had offered 60m for Fabregas you would get him. I think you only offered 25m or so, maybe even less.

I always thought we should sign him for his name alone - Jorge 'Koke' Ressureccion - but he has quality to add to that great name.

That is a good point. He does not have great dribbling or skilful tricks up his sleeve like Isco, Iniesta, Mata, Silva etc so he may not catch your eye immediately. I suppose he's not like a typical spanish technical wizard but his vision, passing range and creativity is right up there. And what gives him an edge over most spanish midfielders is his physical strength and also he is a very good tackler. His style suits the english game really well. No doubt he will be in the world cup squad, he has been a regular spanish international for a while now and one of Atletico's best players for 3 seasons already. I have to agree with the poster who said he is like a fusion between a typical english and a spanish midfielder.

If Barcelona want to sell him, he will have no choice. And after all he really likes England and the PL.
Perhaps yes, I don't know that much what's going on in a Barcelona camp.

That's why Moyes should show he has a pair and try some Hollywood signings of players that makes the difference. Maybe some of these deals will happen. Who knows.

Yep and I also much prefer him to Thiago. I think Thiago wouldn't be as useful in our "system" whereas Koke could play and excel in every system.
