Koke

Koke is a miles better player than Ander Herrerra imo simply due to his end product. You know you're going to get good balls into the strikers feet and head. Ander is older, less impressive, less consistant but has played a lot more la liga games in central midfield.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if Moyes actually wanted Koke to play from wide like he does at Atletico, coming in from the left and letting a Baines-like left back bomb past him, while we get workers and solid players in CM. That seems like a Moyesish thing to do

Ander has been severley unimpressive for 18 months

I agree with your previous post. Herrera is quite overrated in this forum. IF we are going to spend heavy cash, i hope its for Koke or future talents like Torres.

ps. i wouldn't spend more than 20 million for neither of them.

Ander is better for me.

As for this 'why would Koke want to come here when we are struggling?' stuff, I don't really buy it. The transfer buzzword (other than 'money') over the past few years has been 'project'. Players are joining teams in change in the hope to play a part in creating something special. With a new manager for the first time in each of our transfer target's life, and with a team that requires reconstruction - 'project' sums us up more than ever at the moment.

So long as we are willing to pay good money, I don't think getting players to come aboard will be much of an issue.

I think the "project" angle is a pretence for players who sign for clubs they would never have dreamed of playing for before they started paying mega bucks. But that may just be me being cynical.

Agreed that United can still be a very exciting option for players but there are so many other clubs now that offer there projects. I don't think anyone is saying Koke wouldn't want to join United. We are just saying he isn't and won't join in January.

Perhaps, but when those teams are now coming from obscurity to League winners/Champions League contenders - it's hard to argue with the project angle either.

Manchester United are not and should never be a "project". We are one of the biggest, most successful clubs in the world, it is an honour for any player to join us.

Like it or not, we are in the middle, or at the beginning even, of a project to return us to the top. We are 'big', but we wan't to be 'good' too. Right now, we are not a top team, and are almost starting again to be one again. It is a different project to the one Monaco are undergoing, granted, but a project in it's own right all the same.

I saw him for the first time against Valencia over the weekend, and he didn't look amazing. He wasn't playing in the center, and, while 'neat and tidy', didn't show any outstanding qualities. Certainly not in the Silva/Toure class, and he'd cost more.

Maybe people who've seen more of him will have a different opinion, but I wasn't salivating.

Personally, I see him as a bit of a Spanish Cleverley, although he perhaps has greater potential.

He had a quiet game, but he's been the most outstanding midfielder in La Liga all season long IMO.

At the Bernábeu, earlier this season. Assisted the only goal of the game with a great outside-of-the-boot through ball, hit the crossbar with an excellent left-footed strike even though he's a righty and played an all-round great game.

Have you only started supporting United this season?

Would be amazing but can't see it happening as he will probably want to remain and try to make history with Atletico this year before signing for Madrid or Barca or Bayern in the summer.....would be exactly what we need though if Moyes can pull it off..................

David Moyes has made two personal checks on the 21-year-old and is hoping to do a deal as soon as the window opens
Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno
David Moyes will make a stunning £30m raid for Spanish sensation Koke as soon as the transfer window opens next week.
The Manchester United manager made two personal checks on the 21 year old, and was so impressed that he has sanctioned a massive bid to land the attacking midfielder on January 1.
Moyes jetted out last week to watch the Atletico Madrid midfielder in person for the second time, after making the 21 year old star his number one target in the New Year.
It was the second time he has personally checked out the player, and the Mirror can reveal he has had Koke checked out seven times in recent weeks, the latest last weekend.
And the Scots boss is now convinced enough by Spain’s latest star, and hoping to do a deal as soon as the window opens on January 1.
Koke has hit the headlines with some audacious performances for Atletico this season, and has been so impressive he has forced his way into the all-star national team line up.
He was one of the main stars in the Spain side that won the European U21 Championships last summer, and that instantly elevated him into the senior squad, with boss Vicente Del Bosque calling him up for the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Chris Brunskill
With the Spanish over-run with top class midfield talent, that is some endorsement of his amazing potential, and Moyes is keen to jump the queue of top clubs interested in the youngster.
Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Liverpool have all kept a close watch on the midfielder, but Moyes plans to steal a march by refusing to wait until the summer to make his move.
The player was available at a cut-price release clause fee of less than £17million last summer, but he signed a new deal that upped the get out written into his contract to 35million Euros.
With Marouane Fellaini out for two months though, Moyes is desperate to get a box to box midfielder, in an attempt to finally replace schemer Paul Scholes, who is still firmly missed at Old Trafford.
And that will see the club’s board prepared to sanction a £30m-plus bid to try and get their man in January, and head off an auction with some of Europe’s top clubs next summer.
Moyes was initially thought to have been in Madrid to watch Atletico’s highly rated striker Diego Costa, but in fact he was looking at the player he believes in the perfect solution to his midfield problems.

Can't see him leaving in January.

Won't be able to play in Europe, Athletico doing wonders in La Liga and it being a World Cup year of course.

This, sadly. We really needed to nail the summer window for precisely this reason. The best we can do is Cabaye I reckon.

We may not even get cabaye....PSG seem interested in him and Moyes could be bigging up nick powell by the end of january if we have another poor transfer window which is possible

PSG is going for Pogba... i read they were ready to offer something like 40M + Verratti, replacement for Pirlo... sounds like a very good deal for Juve, but might be bollocks.

anyway, muppet season is coming.

fecking hell, you'd think Pogba is the second coming of Jesus Christ himself, that's nuts if true.

 for sure... but compare that to the Bale to Real deal and many others... seems to be the rule now to pay 3 or 4 times the player's value to get them. Plus PSG is everything but short of cash.

its probably bullshit. Muppet season, when everything can happen, until it doesn't.

Huh, I thought they were stacked. Didn't they have some sort of rich sugar daddy?

The lad is playing at his boyhood club where they are aiming to break the Real-Barcelona duopoly at the top of the league and are one of the dark horses for the Champions League. That's probably what he would have dreamed of all his life. Why would he just leave all that in the middle of the season? I see no reason why the player would join us in January. Summer may be a different matter.

Yeh, I have been saying the same thing for a while now. There is no reason at all he will leave the club in January. No chance at all.

I would love him at United but we have a better chance of winning the title than Koke joining in January.

€40m plus a player who isn't really worse than Pogba? That sounds like an amazing deal from Juventus point of view, they got him for nothing only a year ago.

It'd be silly for Koke to leave Atletico in January. He couldn't play in CL for United, he has a better chance of winning the league over in Spain with Atletico and he won't find it any more difficult to move to a new club in the Summer if he feels like it. He'll stay in Spain at least until June and if Atletico can continue their progress he should probably be beyond then (although they might be forced to sell as their financial situation isn't so golden I think).
