Who cares if he plays alongside Gündogan and Götze though? Oh and apparently we're getting Reus as well

Just want Hummels.

Unsure to be honest. Don't really see a Milner-Henderson midfield (when fit) happening much under him, would like to hope Mignolet would soon be moved on, Lallana scrapped. That's just my hunch though, really it's probably more of a reflection of my own preferences than his.

Agreed. Milner is a bench player for us - Hendo needs better, consistent partners. Lallana is another bench player. Backup to Coutinho, #10 for cup competitions and whatnot.

There are so many differences between Liverpool and Dortmund that I find it hard to make a prediction. Klopp really did an amazing Job for Dortmund and probably saved the club a decade of development, but that is in the past now.
What might be his biggest problem is that at Dortmund he had full control over his squad. When he took over most of their players weren't worth a whole lot and wages were down, so he could easily get rid of anyone who didn't fit into his plans, at Liverpool he would have to work with Rodger's squad and given how expensive some of the players were and how much they probably earn it could be problematic to change the squad.
Given the tactical differences between continental football and the PL I'm also not so sure if a lot of the players would be able to follow his idea of football.

He would be kryptonite to LvG's style, even more than Arsenal were.

Watch this space Liverpool are coming and we are going to miss out big time.

Klopp would have been perfect at United just like he's going to be perfect at Liverpool. He will galvanize that club and that in itself will be huge this season. Expect a couple of new signings in January and then watch them go. And suddenly we need to be very very worried.

Watch Reus join next summer as well.

You all losing it. A lot of Dortmund players were worn down from their long-term relationship and actually looking for something different. That Klopp resigned actually helped Dortmund retain most of their star players. If he thought he could still get the best out of the Dortmund players, he could have stayed at Dortmund. Now he will attract bigger names, but that´s not a draw for guys that already worked 5-7 years under him.

Three players I can see for Liverpool:

1.) CB Subotic, who is one of his favourite players and has fallen out of the rotation at the Dortmund.
2.) RW Kuba, currently on a seemingly successful loan to rocking Fiorentina. Not sure whether there is a buy-out clause. Money would obviously savour Libverpool, but Kuba didn´t want to join Schalke due to their rivalry with Dortmund, so he might opt to stay at Fiorentina for less money,if he´s happy there.
3.) OM Goetze, that´s the one big name I could see. Outside chance, but more likely than Reus, Hummels, Gundogan, Mkhitaryan or Aubameyang. He´s really down the pecking order at BM. Already behind Lewandowski, Mueller and Costa. Coman pushing hard and Robbery are not even back yet.

Klopp said a few weeks ago already that his next club doesn't need to be a topclub, but an exciting project. Maybe he was preparing for his move to Pool already.

Wonder if those who follow the Bundesliga could talk about how he starts at clubs, Liverpool in their next six games have Spurs, Southampton, Chelsea, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Manchester City. A slow start and they could be well down the table.

He's no magician. He might start slowly. But things could turn quickly as probably his greatest gift is winning over people/players for himself because of his passionate personality. He can really motivate his players: No team in the Bundesliga ran even close to the miles his Dortmund juggernauts ran for him. And I mean real running, not strolling.

And the situation back than in Dortmund was actually much worse: A mediocre team, with a few ups and many more downs for five seasons, including an almost complete financial collapse. He took them over when they finished the Bundesliga 13th, were almost relegated, and had no money. His impact was immediate, they finished the following season 6th. And after two years they started the season that won him his first Bundesliga title.

I was really hoping to keep Klopp in the Bundesliga. The guy is just pure entertainment, and a great manager too whose teams are playing exciting football. I really thought (and still think) he was waiting for the Bayern job. But Pep still has the keys to this job in his hands. I'm sure today there were done some hectic phone calls between Bayern-Pep-Bayern-Klopp.

Also, Klopp is the kind of guy who probably wouldn't automatically prefer Chelsea over Liverpool, if today both jobs were offered to him. He's a romantic and I doubt he would fancy a Russian owned plastic club. He can build up a team, and he can turn little into something, maybe again something big. When I heard the news my immediate reaction was that Klopp is the perfect fit for Liverpool. Damn.

If Pep is really going to join City next season that could be some fun...

The last tweet is depressing for us, but probably lovely for you United fans

Klopp is the dream. Ancelotti would be great, and perhaps even Pardew or Big Sam would be an upgrade at this point, but my heart wants Jurgen. I'll post a topless selfie if we get him (I'm a fat dude ).

Waiting for the pics

Going to be interesting to see how/if he turns Liverpool around....if they turn into his Dortmund of the Premier League Ill lose it especially after having to watch the LVG philosophy week in week out.

The fear from some in here is a bit OTT. Sure it is good for Liverpool, but we should still be confident with our resources to stay ahead of them. It will be exciting in a way to see what Klopp brings to the league.

Why do people keep saying he almost got them relegated when he finished in the EL spots, way above relegation? It doesn't make any sense. They struggled heavily in the first half of the season, which meant they couldn't qualify for the CL anymore once they got their act together. But it was enough to play in Europe the following season, enough to reach the cup final and enough to top their CL group.

Underwhelming and a bit shit? No doubt. Almost relegated? Nonsense.

the fact remains, you cannot polish a turd!

Klopp is taking a bigger risk joining Liverpool than Liverpool are bringing him in.

My bet is on him improving but ultimately doing nothing more than keeping them just outside the top 4

He made the second best team in Germany champions, but also made them finish lower mid table. He'll have to improve the fifth best team against sides with much greater resources. Let's wait and see before we start shitting our pants.

Sorry, that's incorrect on all ends.

Klopp had taken over a pathetic team that had finished 13th out of 18 teams. Thanks to his overhaul, he made them finish:

6th in 08/09
5th in 09/10
1st in 10/11
1st in 11/12
2nd in 12/13
2nd in 13/14
7th in 14/15 (how is 7th out of 18 lower mid table?)

The team played 3 German cup finals and won it once, reached 1 Champions League final.

People are just trying to downplay Klopp because he will probably join Liverpool. Sort of like plenty of people rated Roberto Firminio and Nathaniel Clyne until Liverpool signed them.

Yes I'd say he does actually! Sturridge, Cointinho, Ibe and Benteke.
Klopp (as well as Zorc and Watzke) were very interested in Benteke as Lewandowski's successor but couldn't afford him.

Just think of it as hating an ex-girlfriend you never had.
No. For your lot this is like fancying that Heidi Klum lookalike down the street for years, but instead you played it safe with some old slapper who you figured can teach you a trick or two.

Then your heart ties itself into knots as you realise you could have gone for her if you dared, when you see her with that Michael j fox lookalike you used to "spar" with in school.

Then you look in the mirror and realise you are Biff Tannen and too old to change. You wasted your life.

Klopp's achievements expressed in points per game:

  • 1.5 with Mainz 05
    • 268 games: 110 W - 72 D - 86 L
  • 1.9 with Dortmund
    • 318 games: 180 W - 65 D - 73 L

I feel pretty convinced that is exactly what he was doing.

Are you happy about Rodgers going?
Yes because we were stagnating under him. After 3 years in charge, we haven't improved defensively and our attack is not firing. I liked Rodgers but I want the club to be successful and it was unlikely to happen with him in charge
