Klopp Confirmed Liverpool Manager

Maybe our Board should make a bid to get him now.

Like when we bring forward signing players when other clubs are interested (Depay, Martial, etc)

this is close to a done deal, lads. best get your head around it.

I still can't quite believe it. I am halfway dreaming of a snatch and grab on the title this season.
Absolutely disgusting developments. Congrats

Genuinely cannot believe this. Never though we'd be able to attract a manager of his caliber with the state we're currently in.

He made the second best team in Germany champions, but also made them finish lower mid table. He'll have to improve the fifth best team against sides with much greater resources. Let's wait and see before we start shitting our pants.

They weren't the second best team by any stretch when he took over.

I've been dreaming the same but didn't want to say as I'll probably jinx us and we'll end up with Lambert

They were when he won the league (in terms of overall talent of the squad). Him improving that side was like Redknapp 'saving Spurs from relegation'. Him winning the league was much more impressive.

Germany is basically a two horse race, like the Scottish League before Rangers got relegated. I think he'll find the Premier League a bit tougher

Numerous Ferguson sides and Wenger's best side, yes. By a considerable distance, too.

They don't mean that no one has played this well, even Mourinho's Chelsea team from his first spell was probably superior to what Dortmund were at best under Klopp, but in terms of style very few teams out there were capable of making transition from defence to attack at such pace and fluidity. This will sound controversial but Premier League side who try to adapt a similar style (definitely last season and to an extent this season because they've been playing to their strengths) are Leicester. Obviously the quality is staggeringly different but in terms of approach and pace at which they play it's sort of similar, they've been reaping rewards of it as well and are one of the most consistently entertaining sides in the league.

Any reason why it wouldn't be? He clearly gets loyalty out of his players, they love him (just look at Kagawa's interviews when he left Dortmund), and he has shown that he can improve their overall performance and win trophies. People underestimate how difficult it is to beat Bayern to a league title in Germany.

The problem with Bayern is not only that they have a lot of money, but that they nail almost all their transfers on the cheap. Javi Martinez for €40M is still their record transfer. And from all transfers above €10M in club history I´d say you could consider Benatia, Jansen, Shaqiri and Breno busts. Even there only Breno truly flamed out. :nervous: It´s bad enough when clubs have money, it´s dangerous when they actually know what to do with it.

Interesting to see the kind of investment that their owners are ready to put in now and what their long term plans with the club are. In a lot of ways this could be make or break for Liverpool, if Klopp can't lead them to a better position then they no one will.

How much money will they give him to spend baring in mind how much has been wasted in recent times?

Quite a lot of defeatism on here.
Did you think Liverpool would have shit managers for all eternity?
To watch them fall hard on their asses again, we have to watch them to climb towards the top.

Reality is we're in a much better position to win the league anytime soon, and allthough he's mad as hell, our manager is ten times more proven than Klopp.

feck them and feck Klopp. Van Gaal has huge balls, and we should show some too. Nothing is given, especially at Liverpool.

Looks like those who wanted Klopp here are going to find out if he'd have been any good. As someone who did, I hope I am as poor a judge of football as I ever was...

How did he cope with the pressure of Dortmund's failure during his last season there? Can we console ourselves with the idea that he might be someone we can get at when things aren't going well for him?

This is like finding out one of the good talented kids at school has gone and joined ISIS. Horrible.

Watch this space Liverpool are coming and we are going to miss out big time.

Klopp would have been perfect at United just like he's going to be perfect at Liverpool. He will galvanize that club and that in itself will be huge this season. Expect a couple of new signings in January and then watch them go. And suddenly we need to be very very worried.

Watch Reus join next summer as well.

And get injured after his first couple of games.

What's so funny? Reality?

Reality is LVG has done nothing yet in the Premier League to show he can win the title. And while that's also true of Klopp he has the philosophy that's more likely to succeed! Fast pressing football with goals and pace. That's how to play in England. Everything we aren't!

God the meltdown in here! Let's wait and see what he does first before panicking.

Lol calm down. A whole bunch of drama queens in this thread. Christ.

Klopp did a good job at Dortmund, but I sometimes wonder if his achievements aren't over-hyped. His last season showed a distinct lack of a plan B, and things pretty much fell to pieces. The premier league is a different beast to the Bundesliga. I don't think he's the messiah people are making him out to be. I'd have been very nervous if we had appointed him last season. It's just when your rivals do something, you always fear the worst. He's got his work cut out for him to make them serial top four again. Let alone champions. I'm not worried. We should just focus on ourselves.

Does he have the players to play that way right now?

Liverpool finished 25 points off the title last season and don't look much better this year.
It doesn't matter which manager they get, unless things change at a fundamental level or there's some ridiculously high variance signing (e.g. Suarez), they still won't compete at the top for a while. A realistic goal is to be back in the CL for the 17/18 season.
