I am not sure they are past it as in still not very good players tbh. They definitely still are but Their qualities have changed and they were never that kind of very fluid players to begin with.

Mainly, They just don't fit as a Combination of 3 especially in this formation unless we can get 2 top wingbacks attacking wise out wide and dominate midfield completely. And to be fair Rooney RVP as a front 2 has not worked under 3 managers in any formation so far barring 1/2 games here and there.

Out of current personnel somehow fitting Januzaj in that roaming role in front 3 or Di Maria pushing closer to there seems our best bet. People say Welbeck and he helps in a way adding pace and workrate but i am not sure he creates anything much himself.

It's unlikely that Strootman will leave Roma if they are in a title race and still in the UCL.
 
I don't know why they'd let him go in January when they could get a similar fee in the summer.

They're in the same group as City and Bayern, and Strootman won't play any of the games probably. Rather unlikely they make it but definitely possible. They are well stocked in midfield anyways and he's far from their most important player anyways.

January seems to early to me for some one coming back into action in October/November. I think it will be summer when we go for him.

If he is back playing well at the start of October then a move at the back end of the window gives him plenty of time.
If on the other hand he is only easing back in at the end of November then a move at the start of the Jan window would be a completely different prospect
Let's just wait and see plus if Roma are still involved in the cl then the odds on a deal must be reduced

I really like this Roma team....but Bayern Munich will win the group and 8 out of 10 times City should get the 2nd place ahead of Roma.
 
After getting diMaria and Falcao this summer I think if strootman is not 100% ready we will go for Pogba, 70mil will do it. Vidal dream may be not dead either.
 
3 reasons why we can get Strootman

1. The money is there for another CM we can raise it to 30m for him which would be very hard to reject from Roma.
2. Roma 70% will not get out of their CL group.
3. Roma have De Rossi, Pjanic in CM along with now fans favourite Nainggollan (who we could have got for 6-10m in January...), Ucan and Keita as their back ups.

Much easier to get him than Vidal for e.g. but lets wait till December first... lol

4. The player would angle for the move too considering relationship with LVG.
 
Strootman is nailed on IMO, will add some steel to the midfield.
 
Not surprised tbh. Strootman was defiently on LVG's target list, but obviously since his injury and lack of fitness i doubt he'd pass the medical. So LVG will be all over him in Jan window no doubt, he'll certainly complete the midfield for united i reckon.
 
He won't be sold in January but might be available in the summer by which time Khedira becomes a free agent, rather get Khedira on a free and then sign a CDM.

no chance that LvG would prefer Khedira over him, even for free. You fit his philosophy or you dont, Strootman fits perfectly and Khedira we dont know. Khedira is Bayern bound too from various reports.
 
Fairly confident this will happen, provided he is able to fully return from the injury.

Yeah, I know he's box to box, so too is Khedira, am saying we can get Khedira who is box-to-box and then sign someone else who is a CDM.

Too much is made of that philosophy of his, I'm sure good players fit his philosophy, he's playing Young and Valencia :)
 
This guy ain't coming back till Oct/Nov time so it doesn't make sense as he will be slowly introduced back into action. There is a better chance of Vidal as his already back and by January we will know if his knees are good or bad!

He'd be way more difficult to pull off than Strootman, they'll probably still be in the UCL but due to losing Conte they could be worse in the league as their new manager is a bit shit and we know how that can affect the champions, they'll need him more than Roma will need Strootman and I imagine they're preparing to lose Pogba in the Summer anyway. The Vidal ship has sailed, like the Sneijder one.

Agent quashes rumour

However, the midfielder's agent Fabio Parisi has quashed any talks of the playmaker leaving Rudi Garcia's side in the next transfer window, saying: "There is no kind of interest on Strootman.

"He is recovering from his injury and will be available soon to contribute to Roma's cause.

"For the rest, I say that is just talk and there is nothing, it's all just speculation from England."
