Kevin De Bruyne

Have you watched Pogba much for Juventus and France?

IMO, Pogba's never been as impressive as KBD for Wolfsburg. KDB was then the same age as Pogba now. Not saying that Pogba can't reach this level though. Our team is a mess right now.

Maybe a dozen games or so in the last year.

He's got the ability, no doubt, but he still comes across as a very disjointed player who is not doing nearly as much as the job description for midfielder says he should. He needs the team to set the game up for him before he gets going.

Needs to be a lot better at solving problems for his team mates.

I was asking cos I thought your assessment of him was pretty harsh. I haven't watched him much more than you, and I tend to agree that he's overrated as a player (he's got that 'highlights reel' quality which contributes to this, plus he's very marketable for some reason), but I still think he's at a good level for a MF of his age. The issue I have with him is that I'm still not sure exactly what his best position is, though I'd say probably as an 8 with an ability to roam, drive from deep and impose himself. He can do this, sure his past few games have been very poor but I'm a bit wary of being too severe just yet. He has been an important player for club and country before he came here, which is impressive in his position as a youngster, so I'm hoping once he's settled in properly and his role is better defined in the team, it'll be ok.

Anyway, this doesn't really change the fact De Bruyne is a wonderful player and really shining in a very functional (at least from an attacking pov) team at the moment. His decision making in fast play is really impressive.

That's my problem with Pogba, he's obviously very talented, capable of being a pretty unique footballer. I'm not sure where his best position will be at United though, as he's not a playmaker, he's not a box to box midfielder, and he's not a defensive midfielder. He kind of has his own role.

He strikes me as indulged too much in that. Or taking too many indulgences. He needs to master a position. It's weird how he has the tools for a number of positions, but is so non-versatile he doesn't really fit even one.

On the other hand, I'd also be a bit worried that is current position is more or less the same one in which Mourinho caged in Essien, who was a beast of player under any other manager who let the shackles off him and was only ever impressively efficient under Mourinho.

KDB contributes more offensively to a team than Pogba, partly because he has a more advanced free role. Mentally he is a lot better with with his decision making and off the ball movement compared to Pogba.

lol

You lots love overrating our rivals players while underrating our own. Don't worry I'm not surprised, it's practically common custom on the Caf anyways.

Isn't it Celtic away and not Barca?

Celtic is on Wednesday before Spurs so he'll miss that as well.

I don't think he'll miss that many games @Attila, international break's probably came at the perfect time for the injury. First game after the international break is Everton and that's like 3 weeks away from now. Could be back by Barca imo.

Why is he going to Barcelona for treatment?

And so it begins. He was pushing too hard. It's not human.
Well Pep seems to have some doctor in Barcelona that he trusts to get him back on track, so we might even see him back earlier, unfortunately...

Since when is Fuentes in Barcelona? :)

Probably some other dodgy fecker.

Oh I'm not suggesting anything:angel:

Though Fuentes isn't the only dodgey doctor in Barcelona:D Seriously though, wouldn't surprise me to see him back sooner. Look at Gundogan - thought we wouldn't see him until October? So I'm not getting too excited about De Bruyne being out.

Pep didn't like the normal methods Muller-Wohlfart had at München.. So at City he can do what Pep wants. Dodgy or not.

Amazing.

Guardiola send him to Barcelona to see "the doctor" and now he's only out for two weeks.....

Nothing suspicious about that at all
Well it certainly isn't surprising, considering Guardiola got caught up in the BALCO scandal while at Bari... Yet according to the wider football media, he and his teams are angels. Also let's not forget how Barca suddenly went down once Fuentes got caught.

But yeah, definitely all a coincidence ;)

Bayern Munich must be furious for letting him slip out of their hands. He would have been the perfect successor to Ribery/Robben.

I don't think they are furious at not bidding 50m for him.
