Music Kendrick Lamar

Some people are suggesting that they won the award because they tackled homophobia in one of their songs.

Which is idiotic, being that they aren't the first rap artists (Common, Brother Ali, Kanye West) to do that.

It's a popularity contest. I liked the Heist, but good kid is still on regular rotation. I'll be a senile old fart annoying my grandchildren with that record.

I really like Imagine Dragons, and after hearing this I want them to do a proper song together.

Kanye West's one was specifically about gay fish, so it doesn't really count.

Macklemore's two successful songs - Same Love and Thrift Shop - were plagiarised. He used gay agenda to gain more popularity.

Thrift shop had nothing to do with homosexuality? And Same Love hardly plagiarised Le1f or Cakes da killa or any other gay rap artist. The Heist was a radio album, and a good one. But it was very much a Macklemore and Ryan Lewis project to be fair.

Sorry I meant one song was plagiarised. I never said Thrift Shop addressed homosexuality. Thrift Shop was plagiarised from a queer rapper, who was ignored when he pointed this out. Truth is, many beats are "stolen" but shame on Macklemore for not asking for permission. Same Love addresses homosexuality, but Macklemore wasn't fully responsible for writing the whole song. Mary Lambert, a lesbian woman, co-wrote Same Love and is only credited for the chorus unfortunately. Macklemore used gay agenda to gain more attention. Before then, he was barely known, but since the release of this song (and Thrift Shop), he has become more famous. The Heist is a good album and a fitting name.

The Heist addressed more than just homosexuality, but did Same Love play a big part in it's success? Without a shadow of a doubt, yes. Anyway, I'm not that bothered by the Grammy's.

Back to Cilvia, half way through my first listen and it's been okay. Very smooth. It's more of a preview of Rashad than anything, nothing spectacular so far.

I have no problems with The Heist. Solid album, and I quite like Macklemore, but things like this need to be addressed.

I'm going to have a listen tomorrow probably. I like the songs he's released since he signed to TDE. In terms of who is the best, this is my list: Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and ScHoolboy Q. Will rate Rashad after a good listen to Cilvia.

Back to Heist, Macklemore winning anything above Kendrick is laughable and just shows how shit whole Grammy's are.

Oxymoron gonna leak soon enough. As much as a train wreck of a forum KTT is, the leak threads are pretty hilarious to follow.

I've liked "Break the Bank", "Man of the Year", and I'm assuming they'll be on the album?

Kid Cudi had an AMA on reddit, the top comment was asking him if he had a Oxymoron link

Yeah they're on it. It's smooth gangsta rap, the beats are on point. So far so good.

Decent album, the beats are nice. Not as good as GKMC though.

Great album. I love it. It's literally one big oxymoron, production is quality, Q's rhyming has improved massively too. It's extremely unfair to compare it with good kid, in all seriousness it's unlikely anyone on TDE's roster will reproduce a good kid.

I like it, got my copy on Sunday and today I have got all the bonus tracks.

Think there are some tracks that will need to grow on me (the Jay Rock track was a let down) but Hoover Street knocks and with the tracks that were already released like Collard Greens, Man Of The Year & Break The Bank I think it is a very solid album

In 2014, TDE hopes to lock and load its most ambitious slate of releases: Rashad and the label's first nonrap signing, New Jersey-based female singer-songwriter SZA, will be coming with albums, as will original team members Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. Meanwhile, Free thinks the long-awaited debut from Black Hippy - the supergroup featuring Lamar, Q, Rock and Ab-Soul - is likely to appear in 2014; Tiffith indicates that TDE is planning to release a new Lamar album this coming September, too.

If K-Dot blesses us with a release this year >

TDE takeover 2014. Two best release so far to be honest. Soul next in a couple of months.

I can't see them releasing that many albums by the end of 2014, although it would be epic if they did.

I was hoping they would've released the full version of the Beats ad with Kendrick. fecking Dre probably still perfecting the beat...

Aren't both Ab-Soul and Jay releasing their albums this year as well ?

Shit, maybe they'll drop something together too.
