Music Kendrick Lamar

Just finished writing up an interview for him for MTV. Interview will be done tomorrow

I've been listening to Kendrick Lamar for about 3 days while trying to do some Uni work. Both his albums are fantastic.

Rap gigs are so difficult to master for an artist, probably the hardest genre to take live, but I'm so excited.

With the rap gigs I've been too, I've found concious rap a bit awkward to see live. It's almost as if the crowd doesn't quite know how they should be reacting to it. Mos Def was the artist, and it didn't help that he didn't really play many of his 'classics', and was really preachy between each song. But I've seen Nas and Wu-tang (Well three members) live before and that was pretty incredible.

Everything Kendrick touches turns to gold, so you just know he's gonna be quite the spectacle live. What track are you looking forward to hearing the most?

Hard to say really, the likes of Backstreet Freestyle, Look Out For Detox, and Cartoon & Cereal will be unreal.

But, I have to say A.D.H.D, that's my favourite Kendrick track. And HiiiPoWeR.

I need to do his setlist, I want to hear songs off his EP and Overly Dedicated. Stuff like Ignorance is Bliss and Heaven and Hell and I Am and Faith. He has a cracking discography already on reflection.

Kendrick Lamar EP is such a set if songs, as is Overly Dedictated. The man is a genius. Talent at its best.

HiiPower is my favourite too. Swimming Pools is also very good. Backstreet Freestyle is brilliant. Where can I find a download of Kendrick's EPs? They're not on Spotify I don't think.

Edit: I think they may actually be on. Overly Dedicated is.

That concert was very deep. Didn't do so much but still killed it. Very calm in terms of stage presence and the show had a great balance. Kendrick is winning right now. He started and ended on songs that aren't on any project and the crowd knew every lyric. I did laugh when he did the I Am freestyle though, I seemed like one of the few who knew the lyrics, people thought it was a knew freestyle. Can't wait for Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul to come here.

Everyone is mad on Twitter, people saying 'If this was the 90's blah blah,' 'His verse ain't all that blah blah', tweet through it bro's.

I like Kendrick but he has a weird singing voice that is far too nasally for me. It doesn't work.

 Yeah, it's quality.

Sweating for Oxymoron... January release though...

Looks like Rashad's mixtape will be the next TDE release, looking forward to that.

Shot You Down is a great song. Disappointed in Ab-Soul at the moment, his guest verses and Dub Sac are shite, sounds like he has no motivation.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's down to him hoarding all his good verses to himself.

Thought he did alright on this though.

But, as per, Kendrick killed it on this.

Man I need Q, Soul and Jay Rock to drop new albums ASAP. It's been a year since Kendrick dropped and none of them have dropped anything, I'm disappointed. If they all drop albums in 2014:

Think they all will to be honest. Q's confirmed. Soul pretty much has to release a project after the one with JMSN got shelved, which would've been unreal I reckon. Jay hasn't released an album since 2011. And K. Dot has to maintain his status as Top Dawg. Alongside imminent Rashad and SZA releases too.

Massive Black Hippy fan, but not looking forward to Q's release at all... He's playing it too safe and I think he is the weakest lyrically in Black Hippy. But we'll see how it goes.
