Music Kendrick Lamar

Can't wait to hear how it sounds.

Wonder if there's any significance to the last letter of each track being on the white side of the wall/frame/background?

Really like the stripped down album art & song titles. Hope it's less like TPAB and more like good kid maad city/section 80. Though Humble was very decent though so it's off to a good start.

Would've been great if the penultimate track was called Jack though

I think this will be the album Kendrick tries to properly show he's one of the greats as a pure rapper. A kind of no frills album by his standards. No rapping features, and some big name producers like Alchemist, 9th and Mike Will. It'll probably still be quite conceptual but I think we'll get him really rapping, and hopefully making something classic.

If he wanted to sell out more he'd just record a mumblerap album or invite some mumblerappers on features.

It won't be as stripped down or as 'pure' as people think. The tracks come in pairs and I wouldn't be surprised if each shares musical (as well as lyrical) elements with the other. There's obviously going to be a thread that runs through the work that unites it all together. This is K Dot, after all.

As long it's not watered down funk/soul/jazz, I'll be happy. TPAB was an album attempted by someone who liked jazz but didn't have a great ear for it, imo.

"Already seeing a lot of discussion about the cover. and I’m really excited about it. It’s interesting to see people talk about “bad” design. But I’m incredibly proud of this cover. I sort of bucked a lot of what my teachers taught me. I wanted to make something loud and abrasive. And maybe some won’t see that, but I’m glad that Dave and Dot saw the value in making something that didn’t fit the mold. Just given the bare bones we fleshed something out that has a lot of people talking. It’s not uber political like TPAB but it has energy IMO."

LeBron is playing snippets of the album on his snapchat if you have it and care to hear previews.

All of my friends are saying it sounds dope, but i'm gonna wait to hear it when it releases.

So excited now

I'm surprised it didn't get leaked. Everything seems to get leaked these days. Good for Kendrick

Can't listen to it until the official release anyway though.

Listening now. It's so overwhelming: I didn't expect the production to be so aggressive and forward thinking. It'll take a fair few listens to come to grips with its content lyrically, but man, so far it sure feels like Kendrick has done it for a third album running.

As far as beats go it's so different to what he's used so far imo, it's somewhat crazy that his arsenal can be so wide, I'm halfway through.

Predictably track with Rihanna is shit, a shame.

Just go to 4chan, music section, go to catalogue and one of the threads got the link in the topic name, on zippyshare, it's legit.

It's not tagged though.

Very listen was impressive. PRIDE. has got some Tame Impala vibes on it with, I'm feeling that heavy. DNA. was an absolutely crazy beat drop, I really can't believe that was MikeWillMadeIt on that... XXX somehow works with U2 on it.

GOD. and the track with Rihanna were a little underwhelming, though. I think I'll be skipping those in the near future.

It's very a different sound from Kendrick, didn't think he would take this direction.

Yeah, it's a good album after first listen, Rihanna's track and God should have never made it on the album tho. Duckworth has a very nice ending to the whole thing, 9th Wonder's done fantastic job again.

The Rihanna track grew me actually, went back to it and it's decent. Not as good as the other tracks though

I think it might be one of those albums where it gets better the more you listen.

Hope so.

God sounds like he's taking piss of recent Kanye, I swear.

XXX is gonna get hated on because of U2 but undeservedly so, it's a very, very good track imo.

This sample on Feel though, where do I know it from.

Right, Kanye's Guilt trip.
