Karim Benzema

Look at the post above yours. These 2 players you mentioned were not given the choice to stay and it's different with Benzema. They wanna keep him

We'll see about that. You may be right, or they go and buy Villa and everything changes.

Not necessarily what?

Depends on who Real Madrid sign. It's obvious to anyone with any sense that there are very few untouchable players at Madrid, and it is quite clear that Benzema is NOT one of them.

Oh calm down you drama queen. I was one of the people that wanted him at United the most but that was before I saw how he's performed in a big league and I certainly didn't think he'd be the type to comfort eat during a small spell on the sidelines, to the point he's actually now borderline fat. Let's not even talk about his attitude. When we had no knowledge of any of that, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, as you would with any other young player but on evidence, he hasn't covered himself in glory. He's also apparently made little to no effort in adapting to life in sunny Spain.

It seems that Real now want rid and you can bet your life on it that, SAF would have known this, prior to signing Hernandez but has decided that he's not worth bidding for even at a cut down price now. Says a lot in itself.

How the hell could you possibly know what SAF's plans are? How do you know for sure that we are going to keep Berbatov? We could easily sell one and loan 2 of our strikers to make a spot for a new striker one that could play in a 4-3-3 as well as a 4-4-2 and temporarily as the lone striker..

Our forward line could look like this:

Rooney
New Striker
Berbatov/Owen
Hernandez
Macheda/Diouf/Welbeck

Sell: 1/2 Berbatov/Owen
Loan: 2/3 Macheda/Diouf/Welbeck

That would then make place for another striker.. Would it not? A striker like (if he is available) Benzema? One that SAF put in a massive bid for just last season? Or any other striker for that matter.. I know what your saying is very likely but that doesn't mean its hard coded in!

Ok so I dont know where his heart is, so I will simplify, he choose Madrid over us so why would he want to come here now?

You know you have said this way too many times to just make it up so I am going to ask you for proof? Has Benzema EVER said (in quotes) no to us? If so please show me the quotes..

I find it really hard to believe because we know for a fact that we had a bid rejected.. The mere fact that we bid makes me realise that he was definitely interested in joining us.. A club knows well in advance whether a player would be interested in joining them.. Otherwise they do not waste their time scouting that player.. Let alone putting in a massive bid like we did.. My theory is one that is based on logic.. We didn't have a bid that was accepted and thus he would never have a chance to reject us.. Also since you cannot possibly show me quotes of him saying he rejected us in favour of Real Madrid after a bid was accepted (as no such quotes exist) makes me realise your wrong!

When asked what other teams were keen on him, Benzema said: "There were quite a few clubs that contacted me like Manchester (United), Inter Milan and Barcelona, but I decided to come here.

"Real Madrid are an excellent club. I've dreamt about playing here since I was 15 years old.

"Florentino (Madrid president Perez) spoke to me about the team and the project that he wanted to create. I wanted to play at Real Madrid anyway so he didn't have to convince me of hardly anything.''

Here Chirag

Yes but he recently said (like 7 or 10 days ago) that he isn't interested to join United. He wants to stay in Madrid
Of course he's going to say that now while he's still hoping things work out there. But come the end of the season and Real go out and sign someone like Villa, Benzema may well see the writing on the wall and want to join another team where he feels he'll get more of a chance.

I'm not saying he'll definitely leave, but it'd be rather stupid to say he definitely won't either.

Whether we should be his destination if he does want out, is quite another question.

"but I decided to come here."

....rather than reject the move.

An easy enough explanation for that.

Also..... so freaking what if he rejected the move to United. He won't be the first or last player to reject a move to United, only for United to go back in for them.

Two players, who have done just that, play for United right now - Berbatov and Rooney.

Forgot about Berbatov being one that we were in for before. Thing is though Berbatov impressed at Spurs. Rooney everyone could see the talent and as far as I know he never rejected us to go somewhere else? Difference between them all is that Rooney an Berbatov showed they were worth going back in for. Has Benzema shown that this year?

Lets face it we knew his preference was Madrid or we maybe would have upped the bid.

Manchester United would be the perfect summer destination for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, according to former Red Devils striker Andy Cole.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has not established himself as a first-team regular at the Bernabeu and has reportedly been on United's radar for some time.

Cole believes that United's injury problems have shown that they need another striker in the squad and Cole feels that Benzema could be a hit in the Premier League.

"I think Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen's injuries have proved that United do need another body in their strike force," the former England forward told The Manchester Evening News.

"It wouldn't surprise me at all if the manager brings somebody in to add to the players he has. But the question is who do you buy?

"I was speaking to Sir Alex Ferguson last summer at his charity golf day and we were talking about the fact there are no No.9s around these days.

"There are a lot of No.10s, the playmakers who make things happen, about. But traditional goalscoring strikers are few and far between.

"Everyone has got the same dilemma. There are hardly any of them about. I look around the world, there's Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto'o in that no.9 style, and then I'm struggling to name anyone else.

"Torres at Liverpool is a real old-fashioned English centre-forward. He's a throwback but you don't get many of them in England these days let alone from Europe. He is definitely a bit of a one-off.

"Karim Benzema is not identical to Torres but I think he is the nearest you might get to him. I think he is fantastic. He has great ability.

"I know Sir Alex wanted him last summer and if he can go back and try again and the lad decided he'd have more chance at Old Trafford then I think that would be really interesting. It's what United need."

Cole joined the Red Devils in 1995 for £7 million from Newcastle United. He went on to establish himself as a true goalscoring great, with his partnership with Dwight Yorke helping United to the Treble in 1999.

He is pleased to be remembered fondly by fans, who he thinks should show a little more patience towards Dimitar Berbatov.

"I am really proud that my contribution, and particularly those years with Dwight Yorke, are so happily remembered by United fans," he added.

"To make a contribution for a club as big as United [that] is still talked about is fantastic. Nobody can take that away from me.

"But I had my downs as well. When I first arrived it wasn't easy but I got my head down, worked hard and that's what I always did when things weren't going too well.

"I have sympathy with Dimitar Berbatov because he's been questioned a lot, as I was at times.

"I think people should accept him for what he is and enjoy what he brings to the party. People should embrace him and enjoy the type of footballer he is."

Nice to see Andy Cole shares my thoughts of how Benzema is the closest thing to Torres out there.. I have been barking on about that since ages now..

Depends on playing time promised really.

It's amazing to see all the stars want to go there and are tossed out after 1-2 seasons, yet young players still hunger to go there

I know, it disgusts me really. If I was a young player I wouldn't go near the place.

I find the whole 'galactico' nonsense incredibly tacky ad embarrassing. It almost borders on WWE type hyperbole.

The way they 'present' their new signings is hilarious.

Coley first defends Berba and then he suggest that we should bring in a 30m signing who reminds him of Torres. Considering that we can maximum play with 2 strikers. Who will be the odd man out. Rooney? The 'closest thing to Torres'? Or Berba?

I'm sure he's thinking 4 in rotation

Benzemasex would be better than Berbasex but its still unlikely it will happen unless Madrid really want Villa instead and plan to try to use Benzema in a swap for either Evra or Vidic!

Real are more about merchandising and commercialism these days, granted they do put a good product on the pitch. However, United do their fair share of merchandising and commercialism but it's not tied directly to signing big name players.

Speaking of Benzema and Berbatov... perhaps the two clubs could pull Milan into the mix and pull off a three-way trade.

Pato to Madrid
Benzema to United
Berbatov to Milan

Ah, a man can dream.

Well put. If Berbatov was bought for 20 million would fans have the same issues. I think not.

Seriously?

I could care less what he costs it is not my money. I just want the club to win and him to do his job. Sorry i do not think those standards have been met. I mean seriously Rooney hopping around on one good leg tells me all i need to know about Berba and his abilities.

So 30 mil or 1 pound... he has not performed to standards. That is the way at United, make us better or make way.

Real don't have endless money despite what it looks like.

They went into big debt for last seasons mega-splash.

If they are to sign more big players, selling will probably happen.

Yes please. Fergie could turn him into something special in the PL.

Why not Pato to Milan then? Benz can stay where he is

I would rather pato out of that trade as opposed to benzema he and rooney would be a beautiful sight together

If Pato signs for United, I will tattoo 'Jizz' across my neck, promise.

There would probably be a Benzema thread in the transfers even if he were a United player (which by the way won't happen).
