Music Kanye West

Just on the first listen now, album is ok so far.. Not College Dropout level but that era of Kanye has gone.

Just finished listening to it. It's decent but a bit all over the place. Doesn't really feel very cohesive and some of the tracks feel undercooked.

Can somebody NOT pm me a download link? I will hate you SO much for it

Just gave it a listen. It has that lack of cohesion and feeling that it isn't quite finished of Yeezus, mixed with the feeling of grandeur he'd have on MBDTF where he'd get a very famous face along to sing two lines. The moments of introspection are definitely the best Kanye (30 Hours, Real Friends, NMPILA, etc). A little bit too much filler that makes me wish if he could just condense the album to 12 songs that were a bit more like Ultra Light Beam or Wolves, he'd be on to something really special with this one.

Ultralight Beam is such a great song

Album needs another proper listen, but it feels more like a compilation album. Not as cohesive, which explains the messy release and constant changes to the album. I sense its more of a promotional tool for his other ventures, fashion mainly, rather than a passionate musical project of his own. Still I've enjoyed most of the songs, too bad some of the better songs were kinda short. Ultra Beam, Wolves, Fade, Famous, and Waves were the standouts, apart from the released singles.

I'm finding it hard to pick out a poor track which is good. Ultralight Beam, FML, Real Friends are standouts. If anything, I think it's closest to College Dropout than any other of his albums.

I agree with this, there seems to be no connection between the tracks at all. Maybe I'm nit picking but there is too many intermission type tracks to, doesn't help in that matter.

In regards to my favourites on the album, I love FML, Real Friends and Wolves already.

Chance The Rapper's verse was great as well. His touch was also apparent on the Waves track. Needs to stop messing around with the singing and release an album.

Take out 2-3 tracks and the album would be stronger.

its dope tho

I'd have this as either his 3rd or 4th best album on first impressions. Beats Yeezus, 808s and Graduation. You could get rid of Low Lights and Highlights and it'd feel like a much better album straight away. I prefer the 30 Hours from Soundcloud too, rather than the adlibbed intro. Now, if Andre had dropped a verse...

Come to think of it, apart from No More Parties in LA and Facts, rest of the songs mesh together. Does sound like a the birth child of College Dropout and Yeezus.

Decent album, nothing special.

On first listening it's probably my least favourite Kanye album.

Stand out tracks are Ultralight Beam, Pt. 2 and No More Parties in LA.

Best song was left off the album (only half way though, tbf, might revise opinion). Probably because Kendrick steals the show.

 He says he's going to fix Wolves, whatever that means (put Vic Mensa and Sia back?). This has been the most ridiculous album release.

Anyway, having made my way through an evidently crap copy with some songs left out, I think it's solid. Don't know where I'd class it in his entire catalog, but I do prefer this one to Yeezus. Closer to what I actually like in rap.

Although, as some might have guessed, I'm not a huge fan of his new stuff. Where do you all (who like his newer stuff) rank it?

He should never have taken them off it.

He should remove his own shitty verse, add Vic, Sia and keep Frank Oceans end bit.

Think you've hit the nail here. After 1st and a half listen this album is not as bad Yeezus but it's far from anything special.

Yea and I think that 'Famous' is the best track for me thus far.

First listen, enjoyed it; Real Friends is the standout for me.

Can't help but feel the start sample on Facts was wasted, had the potential to be such a great song.

First impression is that it's less intense and cohesive than any of his last few albums. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but it does mean the album doesn't have the same instant impact that the likes of Yeezus did. Love it or hate it, that definitely had an immediate sense of unified purpose and intent. This one will need to be more of a grower as it's more varied and less full on. As is there are tracks I like and tracks that sound like parts of songs I'd like if they were actually finished.

Probably the closest to his old sound since Graduation.

First listen and I'm not impressed. Only a couple of decent tracks.

Read the last 2 pages of this thread and I'm baffled at some of the positive comments, I thought everyone thought he was a nutcase and hated him.. clearly not redcafe
