Really enjoying the new album, much better than Yeezus. I agree it's not very cohesive and seems like a mish-mash of songs piled together, but the good parts are genuinely amazing. FML and Ultralight Beams are my favourite so far. Why he kept Facts on the album is beyond me.

Maybe it would seem more cohesive if he removed the random interlude tracks that don't go anywhere and cut it down to 10-13 tracks like his last few albums.
Also wonder how much of that impression comes from the way the album was released? If you hear he's changing things right up to its release then you're probably more likely to think it sounds disjointed anyway.

He doesn't have to try very hard to get attention, as this is truly the age of easy copy & lazy journalism. As I write, the most-read story on the BBC website is that Stephen Fry has deleted his Twitter account; easy, lazy 'news'.

At that point you don't need to pay for a marketing campaign anymore as supposedly legitimate news outlets will turn your twitter nonsense into extensive coverage. Rihanna on the hook, Nina Simone sample, and a positive sound to it all. Even got the Bernie Mac impersonation from Late Reg that would appeal to the old Kanye fans.

Kanye reminds me of those people at work that continually tell you how they're "really busy" and 'talk the talk' to the point you almost believe it it, then you see what they've produced and it's fecking shit. It's like the 'emperor's new clothes'.
I tried to listen to his music but its really awful - then I got angry that people proclaim him as a "genius"...after research it appears that it's only him, so self-promotion is probably the one skill that he has.
To be fair I'm not a fan of most of the genre but I am a trained musician of 20+ years and an amateur (as in my own stuff) producer / mix engineer and consider myself pretty knowledgeable. Granted 'good' is subjective and people like different things but for me he ticks no boxes - harmonically it's incredible basic, he can't sing and lyrics are awful...and if he hear how good the "production" is again, I may scream...I don't hear any inspiration at all. People may love his music, which is fine but for me, I don't get it past the pantomime personality.
