Indeed with the only indication of any interest in him being because he spoke to him after the Europa League Final, complete with picture and all

That's your assumption.

Haven't seen him play, but would love to see the potential minutes Kluivert would get with us to Chong/Gomes. Those two have so much potential, they look like they could become the type of players who have you at the edge of your seat when they have the ball!

Can we just sign him and let him stay on a loan in Ajax for another year, and we don't get rid of Martial?

No I read the article in the OP, it's fact
I know it's the Mirror, but Darren Lewis also linked us with the player two days ago

"Mourinho is interested in Ajax winger Justin Kluivert. Kluivert is ready to turn down a new deal which would make him the highest paid player at his club following interest from the Reds.
The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, however, is ready to entertain offers this summer."

I ignore the Mirror in general. Not a quality source imo.

The point in leaving Ajax would be obviously a better contract. He'd not be the first player from the lesser leagues to come and go straight on loan.
True, I suppose it's not a bad decision from his POV. However, if the club's goal is to develop players rather than do what Chelsea does, I don't see how we'll keep everyone happy. I'd prefer we focused on the good group of academy talents we have coming through. That, and the fact that I don't think he's shown to be that amazing a talent.

I don't often watch Ajax even though I'm Dutch but from what I've seen he's nowhere near good enough for us. Majority of Ajax fans on a big Dutch football forum I'm on confirm this. I'd steer clear for now.

AFAIK some of the Mirror jurnos are "okayish", like john Cross (for Arsenal), Simon Mullock (for City), Dave Mcdonnell (for United) and Darren Lewis (for Spurs). We shouldn't ignore everything from the Mirror (or the Mail).

Some of the journos are for some reason viewed as credible (I haven't seen any evidence of this yet), but the trouble with this particular article is that there is no attribution or quotes. For all we know, the person who wrote it could've invented a scenario in order to beat a content deadline. If he said something to the effect of "According to sources close to the player etc....." then that would be something vaguely substantial to justify a closer. The lack of attribution and/or souring makes this article (as well as most tabloid type football articles) more gossip than journalism.

No, that would make sense for United and Kluivert but not for us. It's against our business model.
Exception for extremely good players if we don't have any alternatives is ok but Kluivert is only a highly talented youngster.

Fecking Raiola can never help himself, but I think there's no way we are even slightly interested. He's just an inconsistent kid at this point, and hardly the most talented prospect Ajax has had in the last years. On his day he's a pretty decent player, but nowhere near the level someone like Memphis had when he left PSV and we all remember how that turned out.

Personally I think the best for Kluivert would be a Dries Mertens-like trajectory. Keep playing Eredivisie until he's about 23 years old, see if he can score 20+ goals a season and rack up the assists, then see if he can make it a club like Napoli or Lyon.

Why would United sign him? Surely not for the first team? He’s a very inconsistent 18 year old. He might get there some day, but that day is years of. Let’s see him play a consistent season in the Dutch league and get some caps.

Could just as likely be Leipzig with Lookman probably returning to Everton in the summer.

I really hope he is but he was treated like shite by Allardyce and is loving his time in Leipzig so I wouldn't be surprised if he left.

No thanks, Mourinho can barely get a tune out of Martial and Rashford I highly doubt he could get Kluivert to do anything special. At any rate, with Chong looking promising I'd rather he be given a go than signing another Depay.

Earlier this season Kluivert has stated he will most surely stay at Ajax.
He probably got a good kicking from Raiola after that.

Raiola aims for Kluivert to be the highest paid player. To go beyond our salary ceiling, getting more salary than recently renewed contracts from other youngsters.

There is no chance in hell we will bow for Raiola on this one.

Kluivert is a good player for Ajax but its very doubtfull he can have an impact on better teams. He is yet too inconsistent. Physically also not up to it yet as he is too young.

Best thing for him would be to stay at Ajax.
It will be annoying if he leaves, but if this is hoe he wants to play it, than good luck to him. Hope we wont see him in a couple of years playing in Russia or so.

Oh and there is no way that any team can buy hom and loan him back to us. We wilk develop someone else there then.

While Raiola might be brilliant at extracting the maximum profit for his client, I'm not sure he's does the best for the long term of their careers. There's nowhere better for Kluivert right now than Ajax

Raiola asseses if there's a possibility the client will leave him in the following years. If there's a chance they will, he will try to force a break. If not, he will make shure the player stays. Anything to make sure he doesn't miss out on his commission.

Forcing a break will only work with curtain clients. Usually they overrate themselves. If not. Raiola will make sure they do.

I think this is the case with Kluivert too. Yes, he will leave Ajax. Chances are he will sign for United. United will overpay. A lot. And what do you get? A player who is less ready than Memphis was.

He is miles behind Rashford and Martial at the moment, and they have limited game time. No thanks.

Just stay at Ajax for 2 more years lad.

Similar in play style to Pulisic. He only has 1 year left on his contract though, so won't cost more than £15m (at most). From what I've seen though, he's too inconsistent and still hasn't fully physically matured. So, optimally we should get him and loan him out to a team in a competitive league, where he'll get consistent game time.

Unless it is for our U23, i dont see him playing here. He is so far away from our first team. If he wasnt Kluivert, nobody would care. Neres looks much better and ready than him

Raiola ruining another career. Would be best for Kluivert to stay at Ajax for another 2-3 years. He is not even the best player in the Eredivisie, Depay was topscorer and a huge talent and look what happened to him. Raiola cashing in before it's too late.

I'd rather not. Number one reason: Raiola is his agent. Number two reason: He'll be crying out for Barca as soon as he's fulfilling his potential.

 can't really win on here. If we don't sign a young talented player on the cheap, we blame Mourinho. When we look like we will, couldn't pay someone to find a positive. Give me strength.

When has this happened?

Ah, the son of the killer that never scored more than 18 league goals in a season over his entire career. Patrick was more reputation and CM-legend rather than actual ability, I suspect his son is exactly the same and then some. Do not want, just like with Dolberg.
