I thought Kluivert was a right winger, if not, then makes no sense at all to pursue him.
Anyway, Mourinho has already made it clear that we won't be looking to bring in any new attackers this Summer.
He used to play there a while ago but now plays at LW and says it is his preferred position:

"I'm happy that I've had the chance on the left wing lately," he said. "That is really my position, but I must get better and must make more goals. I'm 18 years old and only just starting. Everything is different now. Opponents get to know you and I get covered twice as much. I see it as a compliment."

Cracking young player, no doubt, but do we really need yet another left sided attacker..?
This would be absurd.

do we have specialist left sided attackers though. To me Martial and Rashford can play there but it's not their best positions, both to me are better centrally. Sanchez would be, but depends if Jose ultimately plays him as a number 10. Maybe he is viewing Kluivert as a right sided attacker. I know the kid says he prefers to play in the left, but maybe Jose sees him there as he has played there also. What we do have though is a bunch of attacking players except for Lukaku that can switch seamlessly between positions. Jose likes to change tactics during games, maybe he likes the kids versatility. Swap out lukaku in certain games for either Rashford/Martial, with this kid and Sanchez on the wings, that's some scary pace on the counter

Good. Arrogance and drive can make a good player into a great one. If you think you're going to be one of the best, you're in the right mindset to achieve it providing you've got equal the amount of work ethic to compliment it.
Memphis was as arrogant as they come. It didn’t propel him to greater heights. In all seriousness, I get your point. Many of the best players certainly do exude extreme confidence, or perhaps arrogance. A bit of swagger isn’t a bad thing. Confidence in athletes is critical. As you eluded to, it only becomes problematic if the talent and/or commitment is lacking.

Kluivert is a talented young player, but I think that Bailey is a bit better. Mainly because he is playing in the Bundesliga. Memphis looked fantastic in the Eredivisie and we know what happened next.

Todays performance against ADO is a good example of why Kluivert is nowhere nearready for United. Or for a midtable PL side for that matter. Having a ‘mare.

Maybe unlike Jordi Cruijf this guy can actually live up to his dad's legacy.

I never understood the hype surrounding Patrick Kluivert. He did well in Holland, had a mare at Milan, did fairly well in his time at Barcelona and had a mare with Valencia and Newcastle. He's nowhere near to Andy Cole let alone RVN or the great Van Basten.

Scoring a CL winning goal at age 18 must've helped. While he never matched the consistent goal numbers of RVN, imho Kluivert was a better player for the national team and a much bigger talent ability wise. Ruud was just more clinical and had a better head on him, but Kluivert could do much more with the ball and his equalizing header against Brazil in 98 is one of the best headers I've ever seen execution wise :) If only that clown of a ref had given us that penalty in injury time.

We would've missed it and went out anyway, but still.

I hear you. However it was a time when a striker was either a goalscorer (Batistuta, RVN, Shearer, Owen, Vieri etc) or a no 10 (Baggio, Zola, Totti, Del Piero, Cantona etc). In my opinion he wasn't world class in either category and its because of it that his career never really reached the heights one was expecting

PS Ruud did well wherever he played...;)

With Chong and Mason Greenwood on the horizon, I wouldn’t waste any time with Kluivert.

Had another shocker yesterday in the game Ajax lost to Vitesse 2-3. Was also unhappy about getting subbed off.

Really, don't go for him. Maybe in 5 years, maybe.

Justin Kluivert finally reveals what Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho told him

"He said it was nice to see me again after such a long time, because he had known me when I was a baby," Kluivert told FourFourTwo. "And he said it was nice to see that I was doing well.

"My highlight has been the Europa League final, even though I didn’t play [from the start]. Such an occasion is unique and to be there was so special. You won’t experience that often."

I do rate Kluivert but I'd 100% take a straight swap. Kluivert, who's deemed to leave if not this summer, some other period very soon, who's very young, inconsistent, and may never come right, for a 28 year old leader with experience at the highest level, a passion for the club, and a perfect skillset for either our centreback or dm position

but yeah it's nonsense. blind can get a fantastic Italian club, I'm sure

Great another LW,let's also buy Sessegnon and completely ignore RW
But if we are looking for players from Ajax, I would rather we look at De Ligt or Frenkie who are better players and above all, play in positions we actually need players

or even our RW who is better than kluivert (at this point)

imo there's nothing kluivert brings over rashford/martial as options anyway, let alone having brought in a new star for that position just this winter

de ligt is a united player, not sure frenkie would ever be a right fit

Out of all those talented players we keep getting constantly linked with this one guy we actually don't need.

Yeah I love De Ligt, I haven't seen him play a full match, all I've seen are a few highlights videos and also the inputs from my Ajax supporting friend who keeps raving about him. I wouldn't even mind loaning him back to Ajax for 2 years, I believe (from what I've seen) he has the potential to be the best in the world.

Blind to Ajax would be massive for them. But as you say, I think he can get something in a better league.

We should use Blind for someone better. If we raid Ajax, De Ligt and De Jong please. Dont know if they are as open to a United move as Kluivert would be, but an inconsistent left winger is not ideal, even if his name is Kluivert. They are all too young at the moment, so i dont see it.

We should be all over De Ligt. He is by far the best talent at Ajax. Frenkie De Jong is another one.

I doubt Frenkie de Jong is dumb enough to make a move to the top at this moment. De Ligt has been linked to Barcelona am I think he’d prefer that in a few years honestly.

Didn't they just but Yerry Mina?
If I'm not wrong they chose not to pursue De Ligt as they felt Yerry is better and most probably cheaper
Pique just turned 31 and Umtiti is 24,not to mention they have some 'next Pique super kid' in their academy who everyone keeps talking about.
So unless they decide to do a Manchester City and buy all the CBs, I don't really see where Barca will be able to use him

I think Kluivert is a player with great potential but I feel having so many players who can play on the wings limits us from buying players who have potential unless we get rid of some of them.

Martial, Sanchez, Lingard, Rashford, Mata.... 5 players and 2 positions to be filled. Although, my preference who be to use Rashford in the ST position and interchange with Lukaku but Jose doesn't seem to do that.

With that being said, Kluivert plays his best on the left side and is similar in style to Martial whose quick and uses trickery and also cuts in to take a shot. Good player but with Sanchez, Martial and Rashford eyeing the same position, it's hard to buy one more to fill that position. If he's as good on the RW, then perhaps that's something to think about.

Frenkie De Jong is a guy with immense potential and I feel he has what it takes to raise his game and take it to the next level. I think he's a got great long range passing, he shields the ball pretty well and it able to glide past players in midfield with ease. The hallmarks of a deep lying playmaker. He could be molded into becoming the dynamic Pirlo in my mind. I'm not a huge fan of him playing in the CB position since he's got so much potential to play in midfield. Would be a shame if he ended at Barca or more so at City. If Blind is being sold back to Ajax, we should totally take advantage of that and get in Frenkie. He looks very football mature for his age

Whatever happens with Kluivert I don't see Blind going back to Ajax, he'll have offers from Italy, Spain and Germany IMO.

Yeah, I thought the same. In terms of money alone ajax won't be able to match some of the teams that'll be in for him. I can see him moving to Italy.

We've got gomes and chong who aren't much younger than kluivert. Surely those two will start coming into contention before long.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blind ended up going back to Ajax. Ajax is beloved to him and that shouldn't be taken lightly..
