Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Is that really a huge problem? Imho it's a blessing in disguise, because those club take the lemons (greedy mercenaries) off the market and if someone rather wants to go to a club like Palace because of money, then he is not a suitable player for Klopp anyway.

Most players move clubs because of money. Players want to play for Madrid not only because they are great club but also because they will get loads of money from the club and get more sponsorship deals.

This "suitable player for Klopp" thing is overplayed. Even Liverpool offer big wages just like any other English club and also German clubs compared to smaller leagues.

Obviously money is always a factor, but the fact that Liverpool offer good wages themselves just underlines my point.

So moving to Crystal Palace makes them mercenary but moving to Liverpool makes the "Klopp type" player?

If you have the choice between playing for a prestigious club like Liverpool, with higher ambitions under a coach like Klopp and you say feck that I rather go to Palace because they pay me a bit more, then yes, that makes you a mercenary in my book.
And Klopp's all or nothing approach demands players to constantly very much give a feck, so if someone lacks ambition it's very likely that he's going to cause problems.

United are buying Zlatan, Mhkitaryan and trying to break a world record fee for Pogba. Liverpool are trying to negotiate a new contract with Klopp, so they can say we have Klopp again. Probably another unveiling and press conference planned to boost morale. Jurgen is a good manager but Liverpool fans are acting like it's the second coming, he's won nothing yet. He had a good run in the europa league and is getting the most of a terrible squad but a new contract now, odd. Should they not be concentrating on bringing in more quality. They finished eighth and last season was a disaster, simple as. I suppose it was all Rodgers fault eh, next year is there year. They have Klopp and they won it five times!

On paper, we have a capable team - especially if we can add a good CM and solid LB into the mix.

The forward options of Mane/Firmino/Coutinho/Sturridge/Origi/Ings more or less guarantee goals. However, they're all players whom you feel have another level inside them - particularly Firmino, Coutinho and Sturridge.

This could also apply to other players within the squad. Looking at Emre Can - if he can iron out inconsistency then he has all the tools to become one of the best midfielders in the continent.

If a few of them can step up and hit elite form then we could have a really good season.

Ings definitely has another level in him. Championship level.

Sturridge is a crock. Ings level is Newcastle. Countinho could be much sought after. Origi Firmino and Mane are good players but not enough to win the PL.

Transfer window has over a month to go. He has already brought in new goalkeeper, centre half and attacker all 3 improving the starting eleven.
There will be lots of outgoings, Ibe, Skrtel, Benteke and more. I think for the moment that is what we will see over the next couple of weeks but after that still time to bring in some quality, especially CM & LB.
We won't have the multi millions United are throwing around (even at players you sold for nowt....) but let's see at the end of the window who we have.

We certainly don't have United's money but I think we'll see 2-3 more 'big money' (for us) transfers (say £25 - 30m+) this Summer. We'll have, give or take, almost £90m coming in from sales alone :
Skrtel - Fenerbahce - £5.5m
Benteke - Crystal Palace - £31.5m
Ibe - Bournemouth - £15m
Canos - Norwich - £2.5m
Sinclair - Watford - £4m
Allen £10 - 14m
Alberto £7m
Balotelli - packet of crisps
Lucas £7m (Besiktas)

What's wrong in going for more money? Players have very short career, 1 bad tackle and that could be the end of their career. So there is nothing wrong in going for club that pays more money.

IMO fans who are bitter about losing player or getting rejected use the words like 'mercenary'. Players have their own reason to move clubs.

Btw, didn't you guys call Gotze (assuming you are Dortmund fan) as traitor, mercenary for choosing to go to Bayern who are much bigger club with bigger ambitions?

True, others off the books too Enrique, Toure, £250,000 for Teixeira.

Can't believe Palace have offered £25million for Benteke, that's unbelievable. Was worried we'd be lucky to get £15 million.

Reckon we could push for £30million.

Why would I be bitter about Liverpool getting rejected? Players have every right to choose the biggest paycheck, but it says something about their ambition if they don't value competitive opportunities highly and generally speaking (Klopp especially) you want players who are hungry if you are aiming high.

Where have you been hiding ? It's currently £27m with add-ons taking it to £31.5m

Neven Subotic has been exempt from training to discuss personal terms with an unnamed club. confirmed by BVB official twitter account.

Rumours are it's to Liverpool with a fee of around €10m agreed.

I didn't say you are bitter, just fans who are bitter about losing/rejected by player.

Players sign for smaller clubs maybe to play week in week out rather than warming bench?

Btw every manager wants players who are hungry, it's nothing special for Klopp. For example, Jose, Simeone, Van Gaal, SAF all wanted players who were hungry to prove themselves.

Yeah, he is no better than Skrtel/Toure. A very average central defender now.

Which just means you have never actually watched him play. He's far better - unfortunately however he spends more time injured than Sturridge !
Jumping to conclusion!
I have watched him a lot. Hence the reason I've stated that he is not a good enough Central Defender, for a club of Liverpool's ambitions & nothing better than they currently have (Sakho/Skrtel and even Kolo). Sturridge is class when he is fit, Subotic is just average. But I'm not complaining if you feel happy getting a defender of that quality, I hope Klopp feels the same way too. :)

Yeah, he is no better than Skrtel/Toure. A very average central defender now.

That's not fair, he's in a higher bracket than both of those players. Disregarding his injuries I think he could be a really good player for them. He has the added bonus of having worked with Klopp and is obviously comfortable with that style of play. Having said that, he has suffered a lot with injuries in recent years so they could end up with a crock.

But looks like has lost his explosiveness and burst of speed. Can still score goals out of nothing but the game seems to pass him by in the 2nd half most of the games.

He's definitely lost his burst, but his goal record still stands up with the best in the league. If he can remain fit he'll score 15-20 league goals over a season, which we haven't had since 13/14.
It'll make a big difference.

He had the potential to be a very good defender, but extended injuries totally stopped his development & he is not a good one now. I am not saying he is a championship level centre-back. Skrtel/Sakho are premier league defenders, and he is not going to improve the quality over them. I agree with your point that he is familiar with the system, but I still see no point in replacing Skrtel/Sakho/Toure with him. They should aim for a better one.

Yes, but that's a big if considering his injury record. Also, he seemed a bit disinterested and looked to be half-arsing it during games when things not seem to go his way. Looks like he has developed a big ego being considered the star man now.

Toure has been released and it looks like Skrtel is leaving. I also think if he can get a run of games without an injury he's a better option than both of the former. I actually rate Sakho and think he, Matip, Lovren (assuming he doesn't go back to being shit) and Subotic isn't a bad group of CB's to call upon.

He is not the same player after similar injury as Vidic. He even fecked off from national team hoping it will help, even tho decision to leave NT is one of smartest ever for so many reasons.

Fair point, there is a long way to go. In my opinion youse need many more players to make a proper challenge. As you said, best to see who youse have at the end of the window.

I thought Ibe was highly rated? I'm sure I saw a lot of ex liverpool players and fans saying when they sold sterling that they had a better player in Ibe in their ranks.

You did see lots of people lauding him and in the beginning it looked like he was going to flourish under Klopp. However he just doesn't seem to have kicked on - he looks like he doesn't quite fit the system, and his final ball is still poor. If it was a year ago I wouldn't want him sold, but now, if someone is offering £15m I'd take it - and put it towards a LB or CM.

I think we'll see quite a few going in the next few weeks - Ibe, Allen, Benteke, Skrtel, Luis Alberto, Balotelli (please god) and possibly one or two younger players.

He hasn't developed like we would have hoped. A couple of years ago he looked like a stronger version of Sterling and the general opinion was that he'd be the natural replacement, but his performances have been pretty poor over the last 6 months and he hasn't shown many signs of stepping up a few levels.

It happens with young players where they look good early on then don't develop into the players you think they will. Remember how promising Januzaj looked a couple of years ago?

I never really liked Januzaj and I never read too much into young player potential because young players are so inconsistent. But I'm more surprised that Ibe has been given up on so quickly. Though saying that, he looked pretty woeful whenever I saw him play last. I thought it might have been a second season slump.

6 months off-form and you're out? Don't you think that's a bit unfair. He's still a young player to be fair to him. Anyway, my gut feeling is that he has an attitude problem (like Januzaj). Demands first team every game?

I have no idea what's going on with Ibe. I thought he was promising too. I only hope it means we'll be signing a better player than him. I'm sure there's a buy-back clause somewhere as well.
