Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

No you cant

Ranieri, Pochettino. Bilic, Koeman, Hughes, Flores, Howe, Big Sam, Guidolin. Heck, Pardew and Pulis seems to have done what was expected of them. LvG hasn't so that's 11.

In his first year, I'll accept it given the circumstances (push for EL trophy). Of course I wouldn't accept it next year, especially without any European football. Top 4 should be the bare minimum or our season won't be succesful, you heard it here first.
If Klopp can come in and stabalise a teams league position and be praised for it then how good of a manager is Big Sam who took over Sunderland in 19th and kept them up! At the end of the day this is your joint worst league position in the history of the PL. Ye have had plenty of other managers come in and finished better.

I know league position isn't everything but I don't buy for a second that Klopp has done as good as people think, he has the luxury of having charisma and a good personality that people tend to fall in love with and overlook some of his failings, I honestly think if Liverpool fans are expecting a push for the title or even top 4 then they'll be disappointed by the end of next season.

So, Gotze looks like it's not happening following his interview with Bild. That's probably our number one transfer target gone out of the window.

Hard to see which established players will come us with no European football. Dahoud is one we seem to be after but again, there seems to be a very slim possibility that he'll come, especially with Xhaka already leaving Gladbach.

Hopefully Klopp can identify some obscure talents. Not winning the Europa league has made things a lot harder. With Arsenal seemingly splashing the cash for once, United looking like they're in for Ibra, and Chelsea and City's unlimited checkbooks it could be a real envious summer for Liverpool.

Dahoud is immensely talented but not only Xhaka is leaving Gladbach but also Nordveidt. So that's 2 cm options gone. No way they will sell Dahoud.

We've got some good players to build around like Coutinho, Firmino and (assuming he doesn't leave) Sturridge, but we lack serious quality elsewhere. It might help that we don't have European football as we'll have more time on the training ground but as you say we're relying entirely on Klopp's ability to identify players that have gone under the radar of the bigger clubs in Europe. It's never a guaranteed path to success.

Leicester have given me a lot of hope that we can come out of no where and surprise everyone but we don't have someone as good as Suarez to push us this time. I trust Klopp's managerial ability but it's a tough league to succeed in, now more than ever.

We'll see how things look at the end of the summer. We need another CB given Sakho's incoming ban and Skrtel/Toure both leaving, as well as a midfielder, possibly a striker and a winger. I'd say a left back to push Moreno out of the side is needed too.

Coutinho and Firmino are somewhat enigmatic. Whilst talented, they both drift in and out of games. Maybe I'm overreacting after last Wednesday, but it feels like neither can consistently provide 7/10 performances.

Also, will Sturridge be Klopp's favoured choice? He seems to be struggling physically and it's clear he isn't much of a lone striker.

It's really hard to decipher the quality of our squad right now. We definitely lack a top midfielder, and need to buy a dependable LB.

What does Klopp do now?.. Will he slowly gut the squad and start afresh or will he persist with this bunch? It's probable that Skrtel, Benteke, Balotelli, Ibe etc will leave. I feel that more established players like Lucas, Henderson, Lallana and Allen are dispensable. Even Sturridge, perhaps..

Finish 8th and completely out of Europe and get a new contract. fml. Looks like the owners are as deluded as their ignorant fans.

I also hear he wants to sign Sissoko for 20m:lol:

Bit odd, that.

 at the replies from Everton fans saying same was done with Martinez.
The general consensus is that it's about stability more than anything else. I'm not sure a contract extension guarantees stability personally. What if we're no further up the table two years from now and still without a trophy? I'm happy he's getting a contract extension but it's naive to assume it means he'll definitely be our manager five years from now.

The Martinez thing is ominous...

Yeah it's weird. Everyone knows how loyal he is anyway so no danger of him upping sticks any time soon, even without a new contract.

What's happening in terms of signings? Anyone linked?

Nothing serious. Zielinski is starting to look less likely with us not wanting to match Udinese's £15 million valuation and Napoli lurking. Dahoud looks unlikely as well because Gladbach don't want to lose another midfielder after Xhaka's departure. I think we're after a left back as well but again nothing much is happening at the moment.

I'm pretty sure we'll sign a midfielder to play alongside Can (and allow less reliance on Henderson/Milner) and probably find a left back from somewhere to replace Moreno. A striker might happen as well assuming Benteke leaves but with no European football I'm not sure we'll bother. Sturridge, Origi and Ings backed up by Firmino and Mane if needed would probably be enough. There's always the risk that Sturridge gets injured but Origi seemed to suit our system quite well anyway.

The only other signing we might make is a CB, but that depends on what happens with Sakho. He's going to find out the result of that tomorrow at a hearing with UEFA. I have a feeling we might sign Subotic if Sakho gets a lengthy ban.

Coric, Zielinski, Dahoud, Gotze, Lacazette, Chilwell, Sissoko, Pjaca.. some of names that linked.

Leftback & Midfielder are priority though. And maybe Striker pending what happens with Benteke as him & Balotelli will most likely be out.

Hector was linked by some less reliable sources but Chilwell was the main one. I think Leicester are hesitant to sell him, or maybe we're being tight with money again. Gomez should be fit for the new season following an ACL injury and is an option for left back. I thought he looked decent at the start of last season as well so maybe Klopp will give him a go. I don't think he's a huge fan of Moreno. I've seen Klopp go mental at him a couple of times during games, probably because Moreno's in the oppositions box whilst they exploit the space down his side.

Thanks both. Which of those mentioned are LBs and what do you think will happen to Gomez? He did well there before his injury.

Chilwel, but don't know much about him. Young kid plays for leicester, played a few games for them and went on Huddersfield on loan last year. Personally I'm not a fan of these type of signings for a position thats been our worst to fill for years. We've been linked with Hector who's currently playing for Germany too.

Thanks again, yeah I think you'd be better off with an older more experienced LB and use Gomez as another option for that position.

Would be surprised if Klopp liked Moreno. Done a decent job offensively but defensively (which should be his main job) he's a liability.

He plays on Sakho's side as well and I'd say he needs more help than Lovren does.

He's a major coup for them and quite clearly desperate for him to remain as long as possible. Taking over 2/3 of the season getting Rodgers dodgy squad to 2 finals is not to be sniffed at. His main questionable action was sacrificing league position to progress in the Europa league.
It's a shame they have no Europa League to distract them this year but as long as he doesn't get any decent players, they won't be making top 4 yet again.

Yea, it's a bit weird to offer one. You think after Rodgers we'd be a bit more careful with them. Klopp has shown he won't leave halfway through a contract anyway.

There aren't really any strong links with any left back at the moment, it's gone quiet.

It has been a problem position for years. Would like to think there is more in the Hector link, and it's quiet because he is still at the euro's.

Gomez coming back is hopefully a plus though whether Klopp believes he can play there I am not sure - before he got injured he was, and looked very good too.

The fact United are linked with Pogba for £120m and we are scratching around for a left back shows the difference at the moment - even if you let him go for free!
Will all the money City and United are spending, top 4 is going to be harder than ever this season.

Imagine this is to keep Germany NT away from him if Low leaves after Euros.

I can understand Liverpool fans being cautiously optimistic and Klopp is a good manager.

I don't think you could call last season an impressive start though.

Yeah on paper 8th and no trophy isn't great. It might refer to some improved form in the second half of the season and getting the fans behind the team again.

I think stability is the main reason for a new contract.

If you'd said at the start of last season that Liverpool would have Jurgen Klopp in place, most Liverpool fans would have laughed and most people on here would have classed you as deluded. He's a manager that a lot of clubs (Man Utd included) wanted and whilst I think you've got a great manager in Mourinho, I think we've done brilliantly to get Klopp as well.
We finished 8th because we put all our eggs in the Europa League basket but with nothing but league football next season, I think we'll surprise a few people. We'll certainly challenge for top 4 but with lots of other clubs but I g well and having great managers too, it's difficult to predict whether we'll make it or not.
One thing's for certain, next season will be immense

It wasn't bad getting to 2 cup finals. League form was up and down though.
Impressive, no. But given the injuries we had, he lost Gomez and Ings for example within a week after arriving, he did pretty well with a squad he inherited. Needs backing in the transfer market and be able to bring players in he wants.

Next season going to be incredibly difficult to get in the top 4, when you have Palace bidding £30m on players then there is serious money around.

Have they signed anyone of note yet?

Matip ex Schalke captain, centre back. Mane from Southampton.
Karius goalkeeper from Mainz hopefully Mignolet will be number 2.
Grujic young attacking midfielder from Red Star Belgrade (probably a squad player at least initially).

Given the money and quality others, including United are bringing in, clearly we need more quality, especially in central midfield and a left back (please sign a good left back.......!!)

Is that really a huge problem? Imho it's also a blessing in disguise, because those club take the lemons (greedy mercenaries) off the market and if someone rather wants to go to a club like Palace because of money, then he is not a suitable player for Klopp anyway.

I don't know - I just think when Palace, West Ham and others have that much to spend it will make competition for the top 6 places fiercer.

I suppose my contradiction to that is it will probably mean someone spends that on Benteke!
