ever get that feeling of déjà vu?
Who the feck is Norbert?! Is he scouse?!
Rodgers. He's the one who escaped Liverpool.
Everton had Martinez, Utd have LvG and we had Rodgers. Who 'won' that race?
Rodgers. He's the one who escaped Liverpool.
I can name ten managers in the league right now which pulled a lot more out of that squad as compared to LvG.
No you cant
Ranieri, Pochettino. Bilic, Koeman, Hughes, Flores, Howe, Big Sam, Guidolin. Heck, Pardew and Pulis seems to have done what was expected of them. LvG hasn't so that's 11.
If Klopp can come in and stabalise a teams league position and be praised for it then how good of a manager is Big Sam who took over Sunderland in 19th and kept them up! At the end of the day this is your joint worst league position in the history of the PL. Ye have had plenty of other managers come in and finished better. In his first year, I'll accept it given the circumstances (push for EL trophy). Of course I wouldn't accept it next year, especially without any European football. Top 4 should be the bare minimum or our season won't be succesful, you heard it here first.
So, Gotze looks like it's not happening following his interview with Bild. That's probably our number one transfer target gone out of the window.
Hard to see which established players will come us with no European football. Dahoud is one we seem to be after but again, there seems to be a very slim possibility that he'll come, especially with Xhaka already leaving Gladbach.
Hopefully Klopp can identify some obscure talents. Not winning the Europa league has made things a lot harder. With Arsenal seemingly splashing the cash for once, United looking like they're in for Ibra, and Chelsea and City's unlimited checkbooks it could be a real envious summer for Liverpool.
We've got some good players to build around like Coutinho, Firmino and (assuming he doesn't leave) Sturridge, but we lack serious quality elsewhere. It might help that we don't have European football as we'll have more time on the training ground but as you say we're relying entirely on Klopp's ability to identify players that have gone under the radar of the bigger clubs in Europe. It's never a guaranteed path to success. So, Gotze looks like it's not happening following his interview with Bild. That's probably our number one transfer target gone out of the window.

Leicester have given me a lot of hope that we can come out of no where and surprise everyone but we don't have someone as good as Suarez to push us this time. I trust Klopp's managerial ability but it's a tough league to succeed in, now more than ever.
We'll see how things look at the end of the summer. We need another CB given Sakho's incoming ban and Skrtel/Toure both leaving, as well as a midfielder, possibly a striker and a winger. I'd say a left back to push Moreno out of the side is needed too.
The general consensus is that it's about stability more than anything else. I'm not sure a contract extension guarantees stability personally. What if we're no further up the table two years from now and still without a trophy? I'm happy he's getting a contract extension but it's naive to assume it means he'll definitely be our manager five years from now.Bit odd, that.
at the replies from Everton fans saying same was done with Martinez.
Who is he presenting that ladies head to?
Yeah it's weird. Everyone knows how loyal he is anyway so no danger of him upping sticks any time soon, even without a new contract. The general consensus is that it's about stability more than anything else. The Martinez thing is ominous...
Nothing serious. Zielinski is starting to look less likely with us not wanting to match Udinese's £15 million valuation and Napoli lurking. Dahoud looks unlikely as well because Gladbach don't want to lose another midfielder after Xhaka's departure. I think we're after a left back as well but again nothing much is happening at the moment.Yeah it's weird. What's happening in terms of signings? Anyone linked?

Thanks both. Which of those mentioned are LBs and what do you think will happen to Gomez? He did well there before his injury.
He plays on Sakho's side as well and I'd say he needs more help than Lovren does. Thanks again, yeah I think you'd be better off with an older more experienced LB and use Gomez as another option for that position.
Would be surprised if Klopp liked Moreno. Done a decent job offensively but defensively (which should be his main job) he's a liability.
This pic has got a lot of photoshop potential.
Finish 8th and completely out of Europe and get a new contract. fml. Looks like the owners are as deluded as their ignorant fans.
I also hear he wants to sign Sissoko for 20m
If he's taking the piss out of the Chinese here it's racism of royal family proportions!
Emre Chan, your family come visit!?

Yeah on paper 8th and no trophy isn't great. It might refer to some improved form in the second half of the season and getting the fans behind the team again.I can understand Liverpool fans being cautiously optimistic and Klopp is a good manager.
I don't think you could call last season an impressive start though.

Have they signed anyone of note yet?
It wasn't bad getting to 2 cup finals. League form was up and down though.
Impressive, no. But given the injuries we had, he lost Gomez and Ings for example within a week after arriving, he did pretty well with a squad he inherited. Needs backing in the transfer market and be able to bring players in he wants.
Next season going to be incredibly difficult to get in the top 4, when you have Palace bidding £30m on players then there is serious money around.
Is that really a huge problem? Imho it's a blessing in disguise, because those club take the lemons (greedy mercenaries) off the market and if someone rather wants to go to a club like Palace because of money, then he is not a suitable player for Klopp anyway.
