Finished 13th, 6th, 5th - then did a superb job of not only winning the League title but DEFENDING it - which is truly a tough achievement and Klopp deserves all the praise he got for those triumphs He also made Dortmund a force in Europe during those two years, too. They then finished second a couple of times before he dropped them back down to 7th.

Came to Liverpool, had an average first 7months where they finished 8th and then last season they finished 4th. I don't think he has achieved ANYTHING with Liverpool or has done anything to suggest he will be a threat to getting his hands on that EPL trophy.

Klopp has had more DOWNS than UPS as a manager....and is genuinely not a figure we should be thinking about at all. Like I said, his managerial career fades into insignificance when you compare him to our other rivals' managers' records.

I don't get it! He doesn't interest me in any way as a threat. I think, with City and United and Chelsea now settled with managers who aren't bedding into their clubs, Liverpool will sink back to their Millennium average position of 6th this season and there is nothing that suggests they can improve on that over the course of Klopp's reign as far as I can see. They might, of course, They might have another 3rd or 4th place finish over the next 4 years but that's as likely as it is for them to finish 8th again. They will average 6th over Klopp's reign...simply because he is not in the same category as Mourinho, Guardiola, Conte, Pochettino and Wenger. Klopp has been a professional manager for 16 seasons and had two brilliant seasons, three good seasons and 11 very mediocre seasons. Why the big deal? Because he has a personality? If I was a fan of a Spurs/Liverpool/Everton type club, give me the quiet Pochettinho a hundred times out of a hundred over massive personality Klopp.

I seriously don't get the fuss.

And By the way; if - and it's a massive IF, but if he ever did rival United for a title over the next few years, Mourinho will melt him. He overreacts to everything Mourinho says. Mourinho only has to throw a tiny pebble out there, and Klopp goes all guns blazing, Keegan-style. If it came down to the two having to lead their side over the line, there is only one winner. Mourinho would eat Klopp for breakfast and I'm pretty sure has already been laughing with his fellow coaches that Klopp reacted in such a way to a tiny pebble Mouirho threw out there on pre-season.

Maybe you are confusing this place with places like RAWK or Bluemoon. Any manager gets lot of shit when they talk nonsense, even ManUtd managers.
 
Would love it if Ajax beat Liverpool in Europe and the manager goes "Well, we played United then and we played Liverpool now, that's the difference".

To be fair, most of Us loved van gaals speech at the player of the year night a few years back. If klopp had done that we'd have a field day with him.

Because you are right, you can only beat what's in front of you, and you won the EL fair and square because you took a gamble and sort of sacrificed your league campaign. It payed off and you got both a trophy and CL.

Because what he said had no context to what he was asked. Journalist didn't ask him why you lost the final and why united won. Mourinho was asked how competitive will the pl be next season, ro which his answer was perfect saying now the game will be on level field as top 7 clubs all are in European competition. He didn't undermine Chelsea's victory or Liverpool finishing in top 4. So I don't understand what klopp was getting so whiny about it.

Van gaal never undermined Chelsea winning the title. Van gall (although half drunk every time) was just motivating his players for next season. Nothing wrong with that. If klopp had motivated his players by saying "yes we will prove everyone wrong" then it would have been somewhat understandable but all he did was mention something which was totally out of context and had zero relevance to the question he was asked.

Just because a manager is a united manager doesn't mean our fans will love him always. Look at Moyes, lvg and even jose from time to time gets some harsh criticism from fans and even sir alex in the past jas been criticised by fans for his choice of words. So no klopp would have been hugely criticised had he made such remarks.

The poster who said Jose will melt Klopp's brain if they ever do end up head to head in a title race is spot on... would love it to happen but I think this year it's between Chelsea and City.
 
I think having a manager who's won 12/14 cup finals instead of a manager who has lost 5 cup finals in a row is also a pretty big difference.

I second this and very rarely post in the Klopp thread because I see it as pointless. His last 3 seasons have been 7th, 8th and 4th. Yeah Liverpool play some attacking stuff but so what?
 
So he's saying Liverpool aren't as good as Sevilla and United are better than Ajax. Well done for pointing out the obvious.
 
Are all Liverpool managers made to go through a crash course of how to behave as Liverpool manager. A month or two over there and they all turn into insufferable clowns.

Klopp can be funny and entertaining, but that's just one side. He is also a sour loser who is constantly moaning about everything. Whenever things don't go his way, he can turn into a proper twat. He and Liverpool are a match made in heaven. Deluded as feck.

You fundamentally misunderstand this place. People here are uber critical of most things united, and there is healthy debate about everything. Very few players or managers are untouchable. For example, we've had threads asking "is Rashford good enough" and implying it's "Martials last chance", when realistically most clubs would bite their hand off for both youngsters.

If Klopp were here he would be heavily scrutinized.

No he's not. He is disingenuous and mouthy a lot of the time and this simply rubs people the wrong way. One of the reasons Mourinho was such a controversial choice, although Mourinho has relatively tempered the past season.

He's a salty little bitch, but you have to admit when you compare their EL run last year to ours, there's no doubt we had a pretty straightforward route to the cup. What I don't get is why he's concerning himself with it, and why he's gone on record stating as much. It's all the more bizarre that he prefaced such a quote with "I don't care but..."

Well yeah, but they're acting like Sevilla are fecking Barcelona. They're an average side, that if Liverpool had of not been completely shite, and lacking any sort of plan B, would have seen them off quite easily. But they didn't, because they're overrated tripe.
