Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Where Henderson can get a bit "im marked, passing it backwards" when he sees anyone in his peripheral vision, Wijnaldum doesn't seem to to care how tightly he is marked. He's happy to take it on the turn and move plays forward.
This. I really missed someone like that in our midfield before he arrived. He just seems to get out of every tough situation, it's nearly impossible to pressure him off.

So, resident Liverpool fans:

Who had the better season? Utd or Pool?
Little late to this. But definitely United. A domestic trophy, a European trophy and CL next season. I don't think there is a debate here.
The only way Liverpool's season can be considered at par with United is if we start talking about money spent and squad depth etc.. In the sense that Klopp has done a damn fine job with the resources he had.
But anyway, trophies are trophies. I would take 6th, League Cup and Europa over finishing 4th any day.

Nobody knows how much money we're going to spend this summer. For all we know FSG might decide to back Klopp to the hilt financially. We hit 76 points with a squad low on quality. Maybe they think he's the man capable of taking us a lot further with the right players. Not sure they'd get involved in a bidding war though. I imagine a lot of initial groundwork has already been done in sounding out players who'd be interested in joining us. Going to be an eventful summer for all of us I suspect.

No, we don't, but going by previous FSG windows, you're unlikely to be throwing £50+ million around for individual players. Partly because you don't seem to want to, and partly because the players commanding those fees are likely to have their picks of other top clubs that they'd prefer to go to ahead of Liverpool.

I also hate this points total talk. Points totals comparisons between seasons are meaningless. This season the top 6 have been noticeably better than the rest of the league, and that's reflected in the points they've won. Last year it was all much closer, and 76 points would have actually been enough for Leicester to win the league by 5 points last year, and would have had you 10 points clear of 5th. As it is, Liverpool finished 17 points off top, and scraped 4th by a single point. It's something useless that's always brought up to make things seem better/worse than they actually are. We had a season of Mourinho vs LVG vs Moyes points after x games, and you've had the same with Klopp vs Rodgers, and it's all bloody nonsense.

It still doesn't change the fact that none of us know how much money our owners will part with in the summer transfer window. There's lots of good players who'll not consider us because of our pecking order status. But I'm pretty sure there's good players out there who prefer the challenge rather than joining a side for money, or comfort.

Match of the day posted a press conference video asking if liverpool can win the league and he said the rules say all teams are allowed to win it instead, what an absolute scrote. The sad part is the media and Liverpool fans will lap it up like he's some kind of brilliant guy.

Chill out mate, it was a mildly amusing and reasonable response TBH.

I'm all for hating everything the bastards do, but you can draw a line somewhere

He reminds me of Chandler, someone asks him "if your parents weren't divorced, would you have answered questions normally?" Weird cnut.

Relax, it's a shit question so he gave a shit answer. Must be tiring for players/managers to regularly give a proper answer to these horrendous nothing-questions.

He said it with a smile on his face, daft question as others have said. You need to chill a bit!

Actually a decent response. All rivals would be taking the piss if he said this year is their year (plus the insane expectation if he said yes) so he had to deflect.

The press always ask silly questions.

Jurgen Klopp backs Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to flourish in England second time around

Jurgen Klopp is convinced Liverpool's Mohamed Salah will become the latest player to return to the Premier League and show his true qualities.

Salah is back in England following two years away in Serie A having completed a £34.4m move to Anfield in June.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult first spell in the Premier League with Chelsea and struggled to make any real impact before going on to score 34 goals during his time with Fiorentina and Roma.

Klopp, who revealed he wanted to sign Salah during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund, believes the Egypt international can flourish second time around, citing former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne's form at Manchester City.

"A lot of players have shown it is quite easy to struggle at Chelsea. (Kevin) De Bruyne is one," the Liverpool manager said.

"The only thing that we really ignored was what he did at Chelsea. When he was at Basel, we (Dortmund) played them and it was 'what the f***!'. It was unbelievable. The moment I said 'let's go for him' he was already at Chelsea.

"Then he struggled at Chelsea because it was too early... The question is 'what did you not see in him?' because he played all-inclusive football.

"He was quick, he played a lot of games, he created goals and chances and he scored by himself."

Klopp also believes that the addition of another left-footed player will benefit the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

"He is left-footed and we don't have too many of them in the team. It all makes him really valuable for us," Klopp said.

"I'm happy for the moment but he needs to learn a lot. We have to start working on the physical part and the technical part."

OMG what an absolute character. Genius. Throws in an odd swear word here and there, pure bantz. His charisma knows no bounds. Amazing.

Updating a thread like this to tell us "klopp said...." and then getting all hot and bothered by it doeth suggest ladies protesting too much.

Is there a bit of pressure on him to win a trophy this term? Would our pool fans be disappointed if it was just 4th again?

I'd put more importance on a trophy if I had to pick one.

That's a tough one. Yes a trophy would be great but wouldn't cementing ourselves as a regular top four finisher be more beneficial in the long run? It has certainly helped us in the type of players we are shopping for this summer.

He is a strange character , was ok with his antics at first but now I think he does that to hide his anger and flaws. He tries to act smart but comes out looking a fool.

Klopp looks like homeless cretin who dropped too much MDMA.

He basically describes a Messi in the making. So why did he flop at Chelsea?

He also claims Salah can make it in the same way Kevin de Bruyne did.

Questions like that are best left unanswered by the Archbishop of Banterbury. I'm sure he'll let the football do the talking, unless the opposition score an offside goal like Valencia, the population of Plymouth or the wind dash his plans again.

On a serious note, this is the season where he has to prove himself. It's all well and good gegenfecking teams into oblivion when you have a week's break in between games. But balancing that with European games in between will be a much harder task, especially with the paper-thin squad he has.

The problem with him is , he talks too much without realising what he is saying. He said he will never spend insane amount on one player and this season he is targeting vvd for £60 and keita for £70. He has a habit of talking about other club's player, constantly moaning about kagawa when he joined here . Failing to admit his flaws and yet criticising other managers.

He has to calm down and win something now. It's funny how he always gets a free pass yet jose and even pep face criticism.

It was paper thin last season and we got caught out with the horrific injury list we built up. However that doesn't mean it'll be paper thin this season. In fact it's already looking better with Salah, Ings (a virtual new signing) and Solanke arriving to strengthen the forwards and squad and our youngsters from last year progressing (huge expectation for AA this season - I think he'll displace Clyne by mid-season).
Robertson looks like it's done to give Milner support at LB too, so really we only need to strengthen CB and CM to have a much stronger squad. With 6 weeks to go in the window I'm 99% sure both positions will be strengthened - hopefully with our two prime targets, who will become first team starters, and not just backups.

The press always have their faves- they clearly love Klopp. Jose's suly mood no longer helps him much but I still think come season end, Jose and Pep may have more trophies than Klopp

If he kept adopting the same style he would surely have Liverpool dead and buried by february. They can't sustain such a demanding style on 3 fronts.

A Messi in the making.. How did you come up with that?

Struggling at Chelsea under Mourinho as a youngster doesn't say a lot about a players quality, does it?
Read how Klopp talks about him. I like Salah though. He will fit your style perfectly.

Well that's a matter of opinion isn't it. If you are right then at least he is a happy idiot which is more than can be said for some eh.

I don't think he is happy though.

He's very passive aggressive and almost always on the cusp of a mini meltdown

No way to live.

Zzzzzz. How long does it take to put this fallacy to bed and prevent its resurrection ? It was used as a stick before he arrived, it was used as a stick last season (and completely failed, look at the way Liverpool finished the season, even with the weakest squad of the Top 6) and looks like, even though Liverpool will have a much stronger squad this season, as if its going to be used again this season.

Does Mourinho look happy to you ? Living in a hotel ? Does Conte look happy ? Wenger ? I doubt any top manager is 'happy' they are all under enormous pressure and likely react differently to how they would without that pressure.

He was going to walk out of the club if they ever did a signing like pogba. As you said, he has a habit of talking utter shite, match made in heaven for the Scousers.

Err, how many games did you have in the spring? Like 7 games in 2 months. In the busy mid-season you were out of steam.

Ehm...you didn't play every 3 days last season.
